Has there been too much bipartisanship or too little? The reward Joe Lieberman will receive today is justified by the claimed need for more bipartisanship harmony. Is it even possible to have more than we have now?

  • ETC., Lucretius Nature's Voice.

    ~

Fir once spring manifest its smiling face, freeing the generative breezes to frolic, birds of yhre air, hearts smitten by your power, goddess, first heard you and your arrival; then frenzied herds skip through exultant pastures and swim swift rivers, captured by your charm, avid to follow your alluring call.

Through seas and mountains and rapacious floods, the leafy home of birds, and verdant meadows, striking soft love and breast of all, you make them wildly propagate their kind!

Since you alone rue over nature, nor without you can anything arise toward dazzling light and joyousness and beauty, assist me, I implore to write these verses interpreting the nature of things...

This terrifying mental darkness, then, not sunbeams nor arrows of the day can scatter, but order ways of nature..... on and on.

    ~nice day. blue sky.

`So, I wager it's wise to not follow a fool.

    The clown can be a wise/fool, sage/idiot.

  • The thoughtful analysis and piercing isight you've come to expect from TIME

"If Lieberman is anything, as he proved with John McCain, he's loyal - and now he owes Obama a big one."-- JAY NEWTON-SMALL

    http://news.yahoo.com/s/time/20081118/us_time/08599186039600;_ylt=ApoovHMUghgHGvh1FdSJeKys0NUE

Personally, I'm still working on the philosophical puzzle of the opening phrase; "If Lieberman is anything..." But I think it's some kind of political koan and if Lieberman leads to my spiritual awakening, I've promised myself I'm going right back to sleep.

This "insight" reminds me of the day after the 2006 elections when Bush "fired" Rumsfeld and Norah O'Donnell said, (overlooking the fact that it was an action taken three and a half years into a failed war; from a president who had remained in a classroom reading a children's book after being notified of the attacks on the World Trade Center and then had hid out for three days; who had to be prodded into offering financial help for the Asian Tsunami survivors; and who had completely ignored the drowning of the 35th largest city in his own country until his non-response became historical infamy: that "Love him or hate him, you've got to admit he's decisive."

  • I'm still reading comments: ~;@ 10:31 etc., sysprog, D.M.,Timothy3, pow wow, bystander, thelastmanchosen, and Eucalyptus Trees are beautiful in California...(can't mention all the great commenters tho)

Holder. I never knew that sever penalties for growing calming 'cannabis sativa' was very necessary.

You go to prison because the rain made a road slippery. You never ever ever see you bike never never ever again. So, the moral is...?

No cut finger or lip on a rusty POPEYE tin can. huh.

    ~

It reminds me if a veteran I knew (he drank his liver into black mush) had a motorcycle accident. He lived in the woods post-combat-war. He got eight years because he had a baggie of pot. He did six and one half years in prison. This is true. I'll spare the rest of what he told me about his experience in `Nam.

    I have a walking stick.

    He'd find a young sapling.

Vines wrap to curl a crook form.

    He'd harvest a interesting crook.

In the wood shop, there's a painting.

He said: I view nature. He said more:

`Choose the day you die, and other 'stuff'

Ya can't make some things up. Oho, ay Reality.

  • geholshson, thanks. (or however you spell your name. Parents loved you. I never met your mother and father. I only get a glimpse of then, they are within you.)

He makes split pea green soup with pork-hoof pig-feet. But kosher.

  • Reilly(OT): It is always good to remember The Dude (and Sobchack)

Norah O'Donnell said... that "Love him or hate him, you've got to admit he's decisive." --Reilly

This inspired a chuckle and reminded me of semi-fictional Viet Nam vet Walter Sobchack in The Big Lebowski:

I mean, say what you like about the tenets of National Socialism, Dude, at least it's an ethos.

Thanks for the chuckle, Reilly, on this brisk sunny morning.

  • Besides, if nature turns a black and white banana peal to rot..

~;, Why not toss the banana skin on the White House Welcome Mat?

Break a sacroiliac. The sacrum, or a ilium is a pelvis tail bone, oho.

ethics_professor won't be able to do a big toe ballerina toss of YKW?

Timothty3 may make a splash in a oval office. He fall on a buttock.

ethics_professor will be better off tossing Holy Joe out the window.

Maybe all day people can have corn hominy and eat with chopstick.

  • ... Perhaps all living species.... (cool web. huh)

... Life continues. What is destroyed and consumed returns in other forms. What matter that is worn, returns to earth, and comes back to nourish humanity. The wondrous earth will again furnish the people, beast, foul, all things, food if proper cared for, so why not cultivate Life.

The spring waters, river and creek supply the sea, or ether too feeds the sky, the celestial bodies, stars and rotating planets. Celestial bodies... on and on and on, infinite. It's always been.. and ever ever will be.

    How about good Bean Soup?

huh, ah, gas. O good fuels.

    For everything wears down,

    the passage of time, endless.

    Nature persist. Renews again.

    Bodies unimpaired return again.

    Nothing can oppose thee forces.

O, One force liquidates all matter.

Immortality, surely (not surly) holds fast.

Entwined, by more or less, entangling bonds. on and on and on...

  • "Governing from the middle"

In the immortal words of Vichy Nancy Pelosi, the "mandate" of the 2008 election was for the new president "to govern from the middle." This is like a victorious general, after defeating the enemy, declaring to that enemy: "Do not worry. We will govern in tandem with equal regard for each other's views."

What Obama is doing in drawing upon John Brennan and Jami Miscik to shape his intelligence team/policy is declaring, once again for those willing to listen, that the change he is bringing is superficial. The warrantless massive and illegal surveillance is A-OK, the phony and murderous excuses for immoral and unjust wars are peachy keen, and the "war on terror" is just fine with some tweaking here and there.

Will we let the war criminals and those who have so blatantly and egregiously flout the rule of law walk away without being prosecuted? If we do - if Obama is allowed to do this too - then any future occupant of the White House (or any other office for that matter) can state with a straight face that "Bush and Cheney did it, so why can't I?"
