And why we won't see any change in American foreign policy
The American people are sick and tired of the Bush era, and they are counting the days until Barack Obama is inaugurated. The reasons for this are manifold, of course, but the one that concerns us especially here at Antiwar.com is the vital question of war and peace. American foreign policy had become so relentlessly aggressive, and with such disastrous results, that John McCain's alleged national security credentials were moot. Even if the economy hadn't tanked so spectacularly at a crucial point in the election season, I contend that Obama would've won in a landslide anyway. And it surely didn't help when the author of our disastrous foreign policy, Vice President Dick Cheney, was wheeled out to issue his kiss-of-death endorsement: talk about the stab in the back!
In any case, what I really mean to say is that our crazed foreign policy was a major reason why Americans gave Obama such a stunning victory. There's just one problem: our foreign policy is going to remain pretty much the same.
Say whaaaat?!
That's right: you heard me. No change in that department. Why is that, you ask? The reason is because the War Party has a strategy perfectly suited to solving their major problem, which is that they lack any kind of popular support, as the McCain campaign discovered to its horror. So instead of playing the game, they decided to rig it

Someone once yelled at me that peace was the only issue of importance in America, but he was wrong. Truth is the most important issue. We are fed myths and false-accounts of both current events and history until it is impossible for most Americans to make an informed decision. They have no real, truthful information to base a decision on.
Here in the comments section of UT we see it all the time; people who think that the Democrats (or whoever) are "on your side" simply because they say so. It is a game they play --- Democracy is not rule by the people.

It seems that the only satisfaction the American people will have with the group of criminals who have been rampaging through our rights and undermining the Constitution is that they will never be able to step outside of the U.S. and Canada in the retirement years to enjoy all the treasure they have lifted from the American people. A few years ago I researched quite a bit on George W. Bush's so called "ownership society." One of the plans mentioned to achieve this society was to allow or aid the U.S. economy to collapse, because no matter how low the economy goes the wealthiest individuals will sit on top of this new low. The purpose? To transform our democratic republic into a fascist state with corporate rule.

And you won't even give me a link to the Progressive Manifesto?
Here's one:
http://www.ushistory.org/declaration/document/index.htm
Pay attention to the first two paragraphs. The rest is mostly just a catalog of some fairly unprogressive acts and policies. Just negative definitions of progressivism, if you will (h/t Dick "who once shot a 78-year-old man in the face with a shotgun" Cheney)
Here's another:
http://un.org/Overview/rights.html
A careful perusal of this manifesto will give a good overview of why some states consider the United Nations to be a hostile forum and incredibly biased against nations that practice oppression, genocide, and ethnic cleansing.
"The very idea thata Black man like Obama is not following the liberal script just drives these shallow liberals to no end...The very idea that Obama has kicked these culturally underdeveloped folks to the margains is a mortal sin to these losers...This is a great threshold moment and I am truly having a ball...lol,lol,lol" -- GBT

I can't see punishing Martin to get at Reid/Schumer. Chambliss is the lowest of the low. He compared triple Vietnam amputee Max Cleland to bin Laden. I'm fine with direct contributions to Martin.-- Jim White
I agree that Chambliss is a lower life form than slime mold, but we will never make a point if we have nothing to lose. This is why the Dems disrespect those who want accountability both within the party and the government overall. Dissenters always have nowhere to go because we won't cut off our nose to spite our face. Martin isn't going to win, so even in this case the impact will be muted, but if dissenters always back away from the negative feedback lesson, the Dems will always disrespect dissent. One never teaches a toddler anything if you back away from every timeout.
