Letters to the Editor

Letters posted here are associated with the following article:
Has there been too much bipartisanship or too little? The reward Joe Lieberman will receive today is justified by the claimed need for more bipartisanship harmony. Is it even possible to have more than we have now?
The letters thread is now closed.
  • @ Chris Sinnard

I agree. And I don't think "GBT" is his real name, either!

  • @ djtoth

djtoth, Joe Lieberman is an avowed and unashamed Zionist! What more do you need to know? He believes Jews are a race apart and a superior race, at that. Would you want a Christian Dominionist in government? Well, that's what you get with a Zionist, plus, they will close all the stores on Saturday!

  • Cliches abound

    Chump change is comin'

    Any day now....

    -- Klytus

I just now posted my disaproval of the 'new boss same as the old boss' cliche over at FDL. Someone chimed in with 'I prefer 'Chump change'. So that has also become a line used by the originality challenged set? Any Day Now?

  • @GBT

You are gonna have to parse that one before I'll know what you are talking about. I think your syntax was fractured by the election.

  • -- GBT

"Who elected Chris & Derbig as the forum police and troll cops???"

No one elected anyone, but the song linked at my sig applies to you also.

    Thank you for your contribution.

  • OH Noes!

I am going to love Obama's tenure as he dismantles the cultural underdevelopment of white liberalism.....

    GBT

Here we are in complete agreement. If there's anything which needs dismantlement, it's that damn cultural underdevelopment of white liberalism. But as sweet and intelligent as she is, I don't think Obama's tenure old can do it. It's strictly a job for adults.

  • And the answer to this is to support and vote for more Democrats correct?

At the same time, they consider it a good thing to scorn their supporters on what they consider to be "the Left." For anyone willing to hear it, they've made as clear and resounding a statement -- again -- about who they are and who they do and don't listen to. -- GG

The more and better Democrats plan... living up to its full potential already!

  • Too much.

I honestly think much of the differences we see on display between the parties are theatrics just to make everyone think it's a big struggle for liberals to get their way. I'd bet there's been much more bipartisanship/single-mindedness than we've been led to believe. If Republicans are still able block the Dems alleged agenda after January 20, then there's no doubt--the Dems don't really exist.

  • @Derbig:; You and Chris are the troll cops in here..My comments need no decoding..

I did dumb then down of course for troll cops like you and chris....I will note this to echo my theme about Glenn just read the nonsense Salon has published about Michelle's butt written by Erin Kaplan..

I think the major backlash that Obama's tenure will be from white liberals not the usual red neck suspects...Of course this is not a surprise for Black activists we have always had to deal with the contempt and envy of white liberals it must be a dick thing with them..I guess size does matter....lol,lol,lol,

  • GBT

I am going to love Obama's tenure as he dismantles the cultural underdevelopment of white liberalism.....

    How very post-racial of you.

Thank You Daileyfare Chicago.....I am Black as well ..I guess according to Joan's ethics since a black woman is the author of this nonsense all is well on the range...

I expect more from Salon and other white liberal magazines they simply do not know how to handle this new reality a Black man who does not them to direct traffic....Truth is I expect more backlash from liberal whites than rednecks....Liberal whites have always had a legacy of contempt for those uppity coloreds...

    Or not.

P.S. Not everyone here at UT is white.

  • "lol,lol,lol"

    Thrasher! Long time no see!

    What's "GBT" stand for, anyway?

  • Who knows anything about Eric Holder?

Other than he had some involvement w/ the Marc Rich issue?

Clinton retreads. Ain't that some Change you can Hope to Believe?

  • PDA and Jebbie

    PDA: Good call.

Jebbie: You may need to amend the Troll of the Day award.

  • GBT =

    Ginormous Bombastic Twit?

  • @GBT

Why the hell didn't you say you were a Black Activist right away, instead of playing with us like this. Now that I know you are a Black Activist, you have my full support for the arbiter position, and you can depend on my vote for any of your proposals. And about the dick-size thing, and my "impotence", well, since you're a Black Activist I'll just let it go, but you are really gonna hurt somebody's feelings like that. But I thought pointing out the inadequate penisullar development and subsequent sub-standard virility of white liberals went out in the late sixties. You can do as you think best, but must you keep rubbing it in?

  • OT Again, my latest comment to the ACLU

[Posted it on their blog. ACLU member for I forget how many years. I really do try to do my bit with them, so it hurts some.]

You might recall the plight of Aafia Siddiqui, or maybe you might not, since despite attempts to bring it to your attention, and despite it being in the news, and despite the other human rights organizations that have sporadically shown some concern, you have never indicated that you have ever heard the name before.

Well, today she was ruled unfit to stand trial, a trial that convenes under dubious circumstances in the first place, since her “extradition” to the U.S. was, shall we say, in the manner of PDD-39 — an extraordinary rendition. And the charges are a little strange, and no doubt since there are not Ghazni police around to testify, they are perhaps better insulated from ridicule than the Jessica Lynch story.

And her lawyer filed an affidavit months ago in U.S. District Court alleging that she had been tortured and held incommunicado by the U.S. or by persons under U.S. control. Her symptoms are consistent with extreme isolation and abuse, but what of it? We only signed that treaty you mentioned above, the one that says we are required to investigate, prosecute, punish, and make reparations for torture.

Oh, well, if recent history is any indication, the ACLU simply isn’t interested in her case, although its regarded as the tip of an iceberg into very insidious practices by the U.S. including possible state use of rape and keeping children in inhumane custody as a threat to their parents.

So tomorrow, she’ll have another in absentia court non-appearance, this time to determine whether she is to be ordered medicated by the government so she can stand trial, while claims of government criminality go totally unexamined, uninvestigated, and unprosecuted.

No interest from the ACLU. After all, bloggers who are interested, get arrested and held without bail (Tariq Mahanna) on two year old lying to the FBI charges. As we have seen, Karl Rove can lie to the FBI and retain a top security clearance. Other people, American citizens with no prior criminal record, get held without bail. Must have something to do with being devout Muslims. No civil liberties issues to be seen here, move on.

I’m sorry to rant, but what would it have cost to just SAY something?
