John McCain's unprecedentedly ugly speech today

The increasingly petty and ugly attacks on Barack Obama by a desperate, dying movement are a microcosm of the last eight years.

Lemme tell y'all about 'domestic terrorists'

Thanks for the WaPo link bystander.

Palin is treading on very thin ice here, but she knows she can't wait 'til freeze-up.

    From Milbanks:

" Barack Obama, she told 8,000 fans at a rally here Monday afternoon, "launched his political career in the living room of a domestic terrorist!" This followed her earlier accusation that the Democrat pals around with terrorists. "This is not a man who sees America the way you and I see America," she told the Clearwater, [Fla] crowd. "I'm afraid this is someone who sees America as imperfect enough to work with a former domestic terrorist who had targeted his own country." The crowd replied with boos.

Her husband has well-documented affiliations with ultra-rightist separatists from ~10 years back. Living in the intermontane west I know rather too well who those kind "pal around" with -- they are bosom buddies with domestic terrorists of more recent vintage. The types who left pipe bombs at the doorstep of federal office buildings here in Reno, during the Clinton administration.

The Obama campaign will probably follow Lee Atwater's sage advice and refrain from interrupting their opponents while they are self-destructing. But if they have time to do a little research, I have little doubt that they will be able to document that this 'Christian' woman's husband was often less than one degree of separation away from suspected or known ultra-rightwing, militia-affiliated domestic terrorists.

Could they put him (and maybe her) in the same room as miltia-types during her first forays into politics? Might could be.

Some Obamabots should get off the phones to swing-staters (yes that means YOU, stop calling ME, fools) and do a little oppo research instead.
