    nasty streak

I always thought of McCain as kind of a good fellow, with a temper. Now it is clear that he has a mean streak a mile wide. It showed through in the debate with his body language and now appears to be coming out for all to see. This kind of temperament in the white house for four years would be a disaster , not only for those working under him, but also for those try to work with him. "If you are not with me, you are against me" will continue with disastrous results. Common wisdom says the presidency ages you beyond your years (Look at before and after photos of W). Given the health and age McCain is already starting with, a person can only imagine his mental and physical state after a few years, and how this combined with his volatile nastiness will play out in the nation and the world.
