@ Kitt and GC,
I guess the only thing worse than commenting on the very real (IMHO) threat of an Obama assassination would be to respond to such comments, thereby ensuring further discussion. No?
Personally, I prefer to exercise the freedom to think and speak freely, and I assume this is a forum where I can do that.
You might argue that this is irresponsible speculation, but the modern USA has a very sad history of political assassinations which simply cannot be ignored.
Nor should we ignore the Bush family's roles in some of these assassinations:
1. George H. W. Bush was working for the CIA when JFK was shot. He had dinner with a shady group of characters the night before the shooting. The CIA conspired to keep the truth from the US people, and Bush became head of the CIA.
2. Bush forced himself onto Reagan's GOP ticket, even after Reagan warned that Bush was part of a "dangerous" cabal of bankers and businessmen whose purpose was to take over the USA. Shortly thereafter, a "lone gunman" tried to kill Reagan. The gunman had dinner with Neil Bush the night before. And who was in charge of the official enquiry which (within 24 hours, no less) found no evidence of conspiracy? George H. W. Bush.
These are very dangerous people, and the McCain camp is firmly aligned with them. Expect the worst as they desperately try to cling to power.
I am no big fan of Obama's, but I have huge respect for the courage he shows every time he steps out in front of a crowd. Hopefully US citizens will also have the courage to face up to some very ugly truths about their country.
