What's most amazing, is how eager the mainstream media is to regurgitate these catchphrases. The phrase was repeated about ten times on Gregory's show today. It could hardly be characterized, objectively, as "taking the gloves off". What a silly euphemism for lying and rumor mongering.
One thing I did here on that show, however, today that made me laugh was a Huffington Post wonk, who rejiggered McCain's famous "special place in hell for those who engage in negative attacks" comment. Yes, there is a special place in hell for those people, and its apparently in the McCain campaign, where all the operatives who waged those tactics for Bush are now working.
