Is it possible that a society may find that a thing is "wrong" and should not be done while not using the awesome force of government to put a stop to it? Is it even conceivable that god damn few things should be illegal?
No one should be permitted to use force, coercion, fraud, or intimidation on others. Other than that, he is free to act as long as he hurts no one. If he is negligent and harms another or another's property then he must be made to provide restitution in a civil court of law.
What is so damn hard to understand about finding a thing legal to do in a free land even if one personally would never do such a thing?
If you build a government strong enough to force your fellow citizens to behave as you want them to behave; then that same government will turn on you someday. It is the nature of the beast. (remember the parable in the movie "The crying game")
