A fetus is not *yet* a baby.
I have heard all that bullshit many times. I recall 5th grade and the big chart up on the wall showing the life cycle of the Florida Panther. It was a very nice poster and a doctor came to the room (a parent) to explain life cycles to us.
Well you know, he claimed that when sperm and egg met: that was the start of the whole cycle of life. Note that this was before Roe v. Wade so the politics of the issue had not yet forced scientists to pretend that the old life cycle truths were now void.
But, old me still can see that chart in his mind's eye. I can also tell you that most abortions are not done in the days just after conception.
But, I'll give you the point that the child might have died later. So, if I murder my lawyer friend next door I'll say to the judge that he might have died someday anyway! Think that would work?
I mean it isn't the only time that Mr. Lowry has gotten overexcited about something. People are giving him too much crap for it: http://www.236.com/blog/w/chez_pazienza/rich_lowry_the_william_f_buckl_9339.php
He's just a very passionate, visceral, creepy schmuck. That's all.
Unfortunately for our country there is no other choice but McCain .It would have been great if Hilary had gotten the nomination but ...we didn't get this chance. The democrats have not done anything in the past 2 yrs. so they are part of the shambles.
Calling it a "baby" is an intentionally distorted right-wing construct intended to portray legal abortion as something else, as is calling abortion "murder" or "killing" (at least before said fetus is anywhere near viable), or being pro-choice being "pro-abortion".
It's no different from calling the estate tax the "death tax" (which it's clearly not), or leaving Iraq 6 freaking years after we illegally invaded it "defeat" and "surrender". Or, for that matter, calling the killing of civilians in war "collateral damage".
These all come from the right's deep font of utter bullshit.
Thank you, Mr. Luntz. Now please lose some weight you fat lying patronizing fuck.
The added data on the supreme court is presented in an odd way. On the x axis we have justices not years.
A more logical presentation would be solid red as the Supreme court had a majority of Republican appointed justices in each of the past 8 years.
My suggestion is horizontal stripes. mostly red with 2 blue horizontal stripes (or is it 3 ? I'm so ignorant I don't remember who appointed Stevens) showing a constant Republican majority.
I love my country so much I could only wish it well. I wish it to be where it use to be...stable, the envy of many, the once almighty country of all countries. George Bush has raped my beloved America and it is crying. I beg its citizen to help my country get up and stand tall once again. We do not need McCain at this point of time and we sure do not need a Sarah Palin to run my beloved America down the ground. My heart is crying because America in the eyes of the world has lost its dignity and its integrity is in dire jeopardy. Please help my country recover its grandeur and glory. Please my fellow Americans help my country get up upon its feet.
Too many has been said of Obama, too many has doubted Obama but I have faith Obama will bring my country back to health. His quiet vision of peace and prosperity for America reflect his dedication to the cause. Give him a chance America, we need Obama more than ever now. God Bless America. God bless Obama, the next President of the United States of America.
Take a deep breath, Glenn...you are going off the deep end...the Dems clearly share in the blame for the financial fiasco we are in...this is NOT a one-party debacle...
He says only right-wing crazies have seen babies in the womb. He says that killing a human at its most helpless is simply a matter of changing the terms.
I disagree.
I couldn’t disagree more with this perception of Sarah Palin. On the contrary, she is simply communicating on a frequency that many of us cannot hear. She is speaking to the Christian right.
A very perceptive observation. Sarah Palin is simply speaking in code, conveyed by a very few words; the rest is filler. It took me a while of puzzling over her apparently rambling and incoherent utterances but this gem from the Charlie Gibson interview finally brought it home:
I know that John McCain will do that and I, as his vice president, families we are blessed with that vote of the American people and are elected to serve and are sworn in on January 20, that will be our top priority is to defend the American people.
Now your typical issues-oriented voter will hear this as:
blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, etc.
but the religious right will hear:
blah, blah, blah, families, blah, blah, blah, etc.
and will say "That's our girl, you betcha".
There is simply no reason for "families" to be there, neither syntactical, nor logical, nor contextual.
Well, may as well place a vitriolic tongue like that somewhere?
A washing machine, and then a tumble dryer, or a 220- volt wall, female outlet plug to calm her-ur.
I'd not suggest do any kissing. If germ warfare events happen post-smooching @ UT, blame the woes on who?
Take L-dopa.
a germ-phobic,
Greennie (someone calls Glenn greeniegreenteeth a lawyer who can't afford gold teeth, dark high-heeled sandals, swim shorts, arugula, olive oil, matching socks. A yoga yogi truck stop trucker gives giraffe advise about eating larva lodged to ash trees) tsk. People grasp views and get cranky if challenged. Woe, and argle-bargle.
Who bats who, and who wants a bruised lip?
Tattoo a tongue as a asp with hissing fangs?
