...bulimics. ;-)
Glenn, great post. Keep it up.
One comment about S. Palin and her brain donor fans: why does she remind me so much of J. Danforth Quayle? And didn't some of these pundits who are ever so gaga over Governor Beauty Queen go equally gaga over GHWB's vice president?
Now she wants him to take care of her lying ass as well as the baby. Bugger him, eh?
Should a 22 year old boy demand a doctor's note? Could you believe a doctor's note? Is the female not in control here to a large degree?
Well, to quote someone I know, with editing to prove a point.....
A man has the choice to use birth control or even to not engage in sex -- he has a lot of choice before the act that produces children --- and seems to surprise everyone.
I don't condone entrapment. However, I do have to ask why he simply accepted her word for it instead of taking responsibility for his own actions and insisting on, at the least, using a condom. Seems like the smart thing to do in an era of such dangerous sexually transmitted diseases.
You were unsympathetic to the girl who used birth control, yet still got pregnant, yet you expect sympathy for this young man who wasn't even aware enough to protect himself from, at the very minimum STDs?
The option of having a choice does not necessarily mean that all unplanned pregnancies will result in abortion. I would love for adoption to be a more viable answer, but that just isn't the case. I would love for contraception to be truly foolproof and universally available but, again, that is not the case. I would love to see a time when the word 'choice' is associated exclusively with loving adults conceiving babies they planned for. But that is not the world that we live in Heru-ur, and to pretend otherwise is just dishonest.
I am sorry, but that is not believable. You are fighting for the right to kill the most innocent and helpless among us. I expect karma to do its job in your case.
It is simple. A woman and a man do the deed knowing that a baby may be the outcome and that the baby may be killed in this country legally and with the blessing of most of the citizens. You seem to want to claim that all abortions result from the failure of modern birth control. I remain unconvinced.
I find that killers deserve scorn.
Shure you do.

Boy do you misunderstand. I have no sympathy for him at all; I told him that believing a girl was madness in the legal climate today. She has all the cards.
If she lies and says that she is 18 when, in fact, she is 17 then he can go to prison as if he raped the whole god damned third grade. If she wants to keep the baby then he must support it. If she wants to abort it then it will be killed.
In this case he married another girl who already had a child and the courts went easy on him to save the marrigage and family. All the children lost; and all the "adults" need to be wipped.
But, at least no one died.
Heru-ur's quote from post at 7:39am:
I know several well-off women who would pay the girls expenses and take very good care of the baby; perhaps even pay her a profit.
Her-ur's accusation to Retzilian at 1:15pm:
I never said this bunch was "well-heeled"; you did.
What is your definition of well-off? Would not "well-heeled" also apply? And, just for kicks, how many of these "well-off" women are willing to adopt without consideration to race? That, I think, was Retzilian's point.
And here we go back to the misogyny again:
It is most especially wrong when women kill the most helpless and innocent because they could not be bothered to take precautions and do not want to have to "do the work" for 9 months.
When did contraception become free? When did it start dropping, like manna, from heaven for all good and proper women to use as they see fit, with the full support and agreement of their partners?
Are you forgetting that there are still groups, even in this country, who would do away with contraception if they could? Let alone other parts of the world where women are raped and impregnated as a form of ethnic cleansing.
And the final joke:
You would kill a kid because you do not want to pay the penalty of 4 months for the fun you had?
While I have been fortunate in my life to have partners who have been considerate, I can assure you that there are many men out there who, for whatever reason, are not. For those men, the only fun that's had, the only fun that they are interested in, is their own. It's unfortunate that their selfishness and/or lack of skill does not in any way alter the viability of their emissions.

They are well-off only in that they are relatively secure working women. Not one makes over 50K I wager, and I know of only one whose husband makes over 75K. Well-heeled means the upper class. Besides, I work where the majority are non-white. (how does that fit your little smear campaign?)
Since I know one did adopt a non-white child and I know him; I would say your racist slurs fall a little flat.
I also know one whose sister (out of our league) is a big-time lawyer who went to China to get a kid. I am almost positive the Chinese kid is not white.

I see no womens groups (nor any women on this thread) marching for increased birth control. I further do not care what the loony right wants to do.
I only know that a woman knows when she fucks the guy that she is gambling with the life of a helpless baby human. Deal with that. Deal with her having sex knowing that someone else will pay with her little life.

So?
Do not have sex if you have to gamble with another human's life. How hard is that to grasp?
I am sick of whining women who claim that it is their "right to choose" but they mean only after the act as gone bad. It is never possible to get them to see that "their right to choose" starts before the fucking happens.
