For the very reason that you posted about I still cannot stand to listen to Washington Journal. I can't take hearing a bunch of lying aholes very first thing in the morning. And I know that they (or most of them) aren't just confused, they're lying. I say that because for example one guy, after saying a lot of the stuff similar to the examples you posted, said, "Franklin Raines is Obama's campaign manager. What is Franklin Raines doing anywhere near Obama's campaign"? Of course the guy knew full well that not only is Raines not Obama's campaign manager but that Raines has not even advised Obama or his campaign. I just can't take the lying.

But you're right in that it's freaky to hear how far those people will go to distort reality and pass on their distortions. The Shooter242's of the world are in deep shit but that doesn't stop them from piling on yet more manure.

Give Miss Congeniality credit: she learned all her lines and even managed to regurgitate the best quips from the last four decades of such events. (plus: wink, wink)

It's true that "...Americans hate the way the country has been ruled ...": they've learned to hate the apparent incompetence of the leaders they elected, who just can't seem to make socialism work, as they have been taught that it should and would.

For decades, they've elected leaders who promised a turkey in every pot, a pot in every kitchen, a kitchen in every house, and a house for every family. All for "free". Now, those voters are disappointed. No turkey. Elect a better King.

  • Heckuva job, Paulson.

With the extortion money in the bank, Bush is back on his ranch again. It's hard work being Preznit!

Now, as markets keep diving, he's warning that it will take some time for the "full effects" of the bailout to become clear to the American people. I'm guessing the "full effects" might become clear on Nov 5th, or sometime thereafter.

This bailout is another purely political "surge" tactic - throw enough money into the system to get you through to Nov 4, and hope the situation changes by then. If it does - or even if it just stops getting worse - you can claim a victory.

And just like the "surge" tactic in Iraq, this one has the backing of both parties, so there is no real debate.

I'm not sure that they're technically "lying". To lie, you have to know, or at least have good reason to suspect, that what you're saying is untrue. I suspect that many of them literally believe this shit, because it's what they hear on Rush and Sean and O'Falafel and get via blast email from the RNC's many front groups that put together and coordinate these bullshit smear campaigns, and these people are stupid, desperate and hateful enough to buy it.

But yeah, either way, it's pathetic and despicable, and indicative of the degenerate state that the GOP has devolved into since its turn to the far loony right in the mid-60's. These are people who literally refuse to grow up and accept the modern world, where white Christian patriarchs don't rule everything, and stupid white male racists aren't their enforcers of the social order, a view of the world that they were brought up to believe in as the natural order of things, and assumed would be so forever. They CAN'T STAND that it no longer is true, and their desperate attempt to restore it is what, I truly believe, ultimately drives this manic creepiness.

They are today's dinosaurs--outdated, irrelevant, obsolete, and dying.

And deep down, they all know it. People tend to know when they're dying, much as they try to fight and deny it. Some just do so more gracefully than others.

my problem is - i have no economic argument to make - because as i have confessed before i don't know enough about economics - I only could point out the absurdity of an argument which was made - and from the arguments i followed on one of my favorite blogs

    - the housingbubbleblog.com (and where they made much more sense) - i only can tell - you will not be able to make an argument in the same way you deal with your subjects of torture or national security - You have to forget every bit of bias and every bit of ideology and even THEN you might not reach a conclusion - because the picture is too big and much to divers (especially for an idiot like me) - And when i tried to start with homebuyers (who i thought were fools) and the lenders (who i thought were greedy and fools) - and i followed the lead up to the bankers (who were the even bigger fools)- to Wall Street and to the politicians (who were unbelievable greedy and awesome idiotic) i still couldn't solve the riddle as easy as a lot of these idiots on the so called right (who just blamed 'the people') - or the so called left (who mainly blamed Wall Street or the politicians) -

The only thing i understood - there are so many 'Feelings' involved that even Freud (or especially Freud) would have had a problem (are Americans ....? - fill in whatever you want) -

and so i FELT - just felt - that you should not play stupid political games with this issue -

and a lot of people over here in good old Europe felt just the same thing - and they felt that somebody over there in the US od A - years ago should have put the brakes on this madness and that every day which is waisted in NOT solving the problem is a lost day - and blablabla - you know all these empty words - and the only thing i know - i really know - is

    - if America can't convince the world (and itself) ASOP that our outdated and f... up capitalistic system is still okidoki i will have a lot of troubles and no money in the future - and as good American i don't like that at all!
