And everybody knows it, too.
Dodd's got this thing all gussied up, all right, this theft.
I was listening to some Congressional Rs yabber about it on the radio; they're fine with most of the "oversight" and "assurances" -- of course they are. They don't want anything that will keep people in their homes, though, down on the ground in the San Joaquin Valley. Hell no. Other than that, proceed.
If anybody thinks it's not straight out theft -- no matter what else it may be -- then they are living in a complete dream world. The point -- the only point -- is to get the MONEY.
Got that?
Sure you do.
Will it save the situation? Hell no. Come on. That's not why it's being done. There is no intent to "save" anything but the fat asses of the plutocracy/kleptocracy. And their asses assuredly will be saved.
Yours? Hahahahahaha!
You know it, too.
For a while, what with all the talk of tumbrils and Mme Guillotine, tax revolts and so forth, it looked like there might be some stirrings among the masses, some actual, you know, ACTION.
But no.
Dodd has made things pretty again.
So back to your plasma teevees and your pizza pie.
What's to worry?
from Ed's post:
"However, we need to correct the problems we created in the first place, not by giving $1 trillion to a single person with no accountability whatsoever, but by dismantling the machinery of government interference that gave birth to the credit crisis. "
See, it wasn't deregulation that led to this crisis; it was "governmental interference." It's not a failed economic model, it simply wasn't implemented in a pure enough form!
It's still the liberals fault, as, after all, it was remnants of their belief in any governmental oversight that corrupted an otherwise perfect model.
Digby observed that Chris Cox "is just a natural symptom of the illness of modern conservatism's Randian philosophy, which, at its core, really does hold that the Big Money Boyz should be allowed unfettered freedom to make money without restrictions or rules." She also pointed out this letter to the editor by a Mr. Greenspan:
"Atlas Shrugged is a celebration of life and happiness. Justice is unrelenting. Creative individuals and undeviating purpose and rationality achieve joy and fulfillment. Parasites who persistently avoid either purpose or reason perish as they should. Mr. Hicks suspiciously wonders "about a person who sustains such a mood through the writing of 1,168 pages and some fourteen years of work." This reader wonders about a person who finds unrelenting justice personally disturbing."
There are two kinds of people in the world under this view: parasites and creative individuals. Parasites lose bankruptcy protection so creative individuals can lend without risk. But when creative individuals are at risk, parasite money is needed, so parasite grandchildren rightfully "perish as they should," or else Atlas might shrug.
The difference between the parasites and the creative individuals? It's which side of the gated community they fall into.
"Oops I did it again."

One can anticipate that if--and it remains in the 'if'zone--Barack Obama should follow George the Deciding Dunce into the WH the GOPers will pivot and by mid/late 2009 there will be reams of what GG illustrates above flooding from all across the GOPer spectrum and realm.
What the GOPers were so happy to rally to and around while The Wastrel Younger Bush and his sneering Vice President were in the WH will now insist that Barack and Joe are being abusive with and on.
GOPer 'true' Americanism will once again now abide by traditional American constitutional precepts of separation of power, limited WH ranges of action or proceed and insist a Obama WH must confer, refer and defer to Congress and the Courts.
Of course all this will open onto the GOPers deciding to dog and drag the Obama WH into extended, strung out DC political stunts and skirmishes.
Pelosi,Reid and the DC DEM courtiers who cluster around these 'DC DEM leaders' have not shown they could ever mount similar 'dog and drag' tactics in going after the Bush/Cheney regime.
Either as the opposition party or the majority party in Congress the DC DEMs have a record over last near eight years that is underwhelming.
The GOPers? They will relish any and all conduct that will slow and detract a Obama WH from doing what it wants or going where it seeks to go.
The whiplash of all this GOPer pivoting and about facing on what the American WH must be when not under GOPer control will exhaust any known hypocrisy boundaries.
And the GOPers will do it with no sense of shame ever to be seen.
The GOPers will completely miss the point of how ludicrous this will appear.
The GOPers hate good government, hate competent government and sure as hell are not going to permit a Obama WH any openings to do good government or competent governance.
The dervish swirling of GOPer anti-good government posturing, dumb and loopy logic lines and bizarre political theatre will suddenly seem like 1994 once again.
It's OK to be feeling a sense of banishment, IMO. It's fun to read you etc, quantum/kooky, and even if ya'/me can't grasp it all... I try. A chaos theory may advise a Education Czar, former Sec of Drug and poppy fields, Mr. Bennet to go into a casino. He goes to Gulp bourbon, and lose many million. The RT-Wing will say `It's okay to steal in a "panic" ...

I partly remember: An esteemed physic/psychiatric 'guy' was disillusioned by the times, and academic topics. He intentionally gave a lecture at some annual convention. Not one sentence made a bit of sense. He wrote the speech with that intention. The audience was nodding, and at the end, yelped and applauded in a standing ovation. He left the academic field and went off to ponder Nature, in a well deserved retirement. He was a good shrink. He wanted a quiet sanctuary. I wish I could remember who, and where to Google the speech. He chose to wander off in self-banishment. Some people who belong in the nuthouse are on the loose. It's OK to feel loony. The Loon bird shout is a erie cry.... IRRITATING. I like to boil water and leave the pot to whistle. Some day I may pretend to have a bad case of dementia. Do you think I do? o never`mind. It's fun to play `duh. I played with Play-Doe yesterday. It was fun.
You're sensitive. The Grandpa Otts Morn Glory blooms each day against the greenhouse...
You know what I'm saying... It's an example of fortune's extraordinary vicissitudes? no?
Who can explain that pretty purplish flower?
Maybe right-wing-folk, and what/whoever,
get a dose of Trichonidasis neuroses bugs?
Possums get so irritated. Go sniff the roses?
A penguin wags a tail like a poodle. I'm tsk.
Someone in a Lab Coat can shoot a Rx drug?
A dog/cat vet may use a drug. Metronidazole.
