The GOP's cheerful viciousness

Yet again, the GOP launches brutal personality and cultural attacks on the Democratic candidate. Yet again, Democrats seem determined to allow it to do so.

The letters thread is now closed.

Separation

marko1965 wrote: It's not a perfect solution and people on both sides will piss and moan but what else are you going to do? It's that or face a new civil war within the next twenty years.

I concur, and have advocated this since 2000. The Right will NEVER EVER accept our candidates, and it is unlikely we will ever accept theirs - even in the most "bipartisan" stupor. The only solution, is to have tow separate nations, one essentially "Blue" the other "red".

India did it with its partition in 1948 and it can, with preparation be done again.

To say it can't, or is "impossible", is only to assure the new civil war - which will be on us as sure as the day becomes the night.

We have to realize that constiitution or not, one side regards it as only a piece of toilet paper to wipe their asses with - there is no way this lot can live together with us in any harmony nor can we make nice with them without being slaves.

Enough already. Start the partition process for Red and Blue America. Let them have their McCain -Palin hegemony and we will have O&B.

@eclipse

If you want to indicate that John McCain may not be a good candidate for president because of his experience, or anything else, that's okay. Even argue that he isn't a hero if you like, or that it is irrelevant to being president.

But the choices that a person makes under torture, even if they appear infantile or insane, are not really open to criticism. If people didn't act bizarrely, it would be strange. Please leave that part of his past alone. It isn't somewhere one should go.

Is LWM Losing the Courage of His Authoritarian Convictions?

@Ron Pauliac aka LWM (September 5, 2008 07:47 AM):

"RE: The Mayor of St. Paul is a Democrat

"Yes he is and he's going to stay that way.

"Your petition is a joke. Take it out on the streets of St. Paul and see how many residents sign it, because they are the only ones who count. I wouldn't want you and your asshat friends ruining my town. The people of St. Paul feel the same way. Just because they come from St. Paul doesn't make them Pauliacs. Deal with it."

LWM, what's up with the alias? Are you losing the courage of your authoritarian convictions?

New post up

It's on weak Dem attack again. Been up for a while.

Wake up you wusses

To quote Ronald Reagan," Here we go again." Right now we are poised for another Democrat defeat/meltdown in what should be the year of the landslide. Negative campaigning works. Period.

Get off your damn high horses and hit the bastards where it hurts. After all after 8 years of criminality and malfeasance there is an encyclopedic volume of material out there. But no, what we get is the exact thing the GOP caricatures, high-browed bromides and nuances. Call a spade a spade Obama, or you will face the most ignominious defeat in the history of Presidential Politics. A defeat in the face of what should be a landslide.

Keep your piny headed intellectualism to yourself, you and the rest of the intellectuals and get in the gutter with these pricks or else.

Obama on O'Reilly

Now ask why Sarah Palin is so afraid of questions. Ask it loud, and hard, on many sites. What does she fear?

The School

That's amazing, Derbig. I missed that bit, came in the middle of the speech and was a bit stumped by the blue background. I thought perhaps he was trying to play the pauper as part of his poor Republicans routine. This is hilarious--McCain the vet, doesn't even know what Walter Reed looks like. And neither did anyone else at the RNC!

@ omooex

This is hilarious--McCain the vet, doesn't even know what Walter Reed looks like. And neither did anyone else at the RNC!

They used that pretty, suburban, idyllic one because the picture on the web archives of the real Walter Reed Army Medical Hospital showed mildewed, roach-infested rooms, and they thought that conveyed an undesirable [albeit correct] view of the Rethuglican stewardship of the latter.

Cheers,

So what do you think about McCain/Palin?

I'm getting tired of reading the same column all the time (which is why I don't come to Salon nearly as much as I used to).

Instead of constantly attacking Obama, why not rip the Republicans a few new ones. If you think the Democrats should go after the Republicans, give us a few examples of how it should be done.

Your position seems to be that it's up to the Democratic nominee to fight alone. Our job, you seem to think, is to observe and critique. It's time to get in the game. For the next 60 days, try unloading on McCain and Palin. Stuff spreads rapidly along the internet tubes. Maybe some of your attacks on Republicans will rise to the top, or at least filter out onto the printed pages or into the broadcast transmissions of this land.

MSM will never get Palin off the talking points

never

Media Dicksocks

Every time I hear "Palin has gotten McCain back in the race" and "She's a game changer" I cringe and throw stuff. It is unsubstantiated, biased propaganda, IMO. It certainly fits right into the meme where McCain has a chance - 'it is close'. Even when practically everything(especially unprecedented turn out) points to a landslide.

The next time one the talking dicksocks points that out I hope Rachel Maddow, or someone of similar caliber, sets them straight.

She's just a bimbo who lies well.
