The GOP's cheerful viciousness

Yet again, the GOP launches brutal personality and cultural attacks on the Democratic candidate. Yet again, Democrats seem determined to allow it to do so.

The letters thread is now closed.

@ yourbestbet007

There's nothing essentially "evil" about any of the Presidential and Vice-Presidential candidates. They've all paid their dues and got to their level of politics by devotion to cause, and a lot of hard work. Not to mention incredible intelligence and talent.

Yeah. It's hard work making up history:

11. "Are you offended by the phrase “Under God” in the Pledge of Allegiance? Why or why not?"

Palin: "Not on your life. If it was good enough for the founding fathers, its good enough for me and I’ll fight in defense of our Pledge of Allegiance."

And it takes 'talent' to try to ban books.

But there's not much "intelligence" in wanting to have "creationism" taught in the public schools. Click my sig for details.

Cheers,

The Zogby poll is three weeks old. Useless.

Here's what the Gallup site says: "Barack Obama continues to hold a significant lead over John McCain, 49% to 42%, in the latest Gallup Poll Daily tracking results, which reflect the impact of the initial events of the Republican convention through early Wednesday, but not Sarah Palin’s highly-anticipated speech Wednesday evening." (emphasis mine). Or, significantly, McCain's rather blah speech tonight.

As I said, wait until tomorrow and, more reliably, after the weekend.

Three cheers!

For the McCain repudiation of the Bush tragedy. LOL, too late old man! That change platform is ... sold. Stick to pit-bulls with lipstick schtick.

But seriously, three cheers for this post by -- Jim Montague

The current state of politics in 3 minutes or less.

Interesting times.

Shooter Knows Nothing

On the other hand, being a DFH dickhead such as yourself is a conscious choice. Obviously a choice cherished, and pursued in earnest. Heh.

-- shooter242

That wasn't very cheerful, shooter.

Don't wander off the script like dottering old John McCain and throw a tantrum. Keep it cheerful! You are about to lose big all over.

:-(

And to the know nothing asshat that thinks red states feed the nation? All that wheat and rice gets exported overseas so unless California became a blue state while I was napping, you must have been smoking that other crop of ours. And most of that food we let you red state pogues eat gets picked by migrant Mexican workers that you don't want to be here, so STFU and stick another tamale in your pie hole. You don't know what you are talking about.

Hold your breath. Please.

It is entirely possible these Rove clones are paid to be here.

On the now-defunct NYT fora they boasted of it quite openly, and it was more or less taken for granted.

Blogs like this one are used as test markets for new propaganda produced by professional psychometricians and training grounds for up-and-coming party propagandists. The better trolls are farmed out to right-wing politicians and can't be bothered, so you get to deal with the losers and the wannabes.

You're not really surprised, are you?

Does anyone know Larry Flynt's email

Then we could inundate him with requests to release Palin's nudie photos --- you know they're out there.

More cracker ho's for VP!!

The propaganda spectacle

Blueturtle, I'm glad you noted the NAZI ploy--The Gigantic Stadium spectacle where the adoring crowds worship the Leader--which the Obama campaign used last week in Denver. In fact, he's used it for almost a year, and it has worked well in creating the Obama Youth Movement out of innocent if not stupid political newbies. Just like Hitler, Stalin, Mao. I think Putin has one in Russia now.

Maybe we will have torch lit parades on election night as the happy throngs sing "The Internationale" through the night. With Giant American Flags swirling like ghosts above the crowd in the night breeze.

Oh mein fuhrer to be!!!!

That community organizer is just code for... Commie Sympathizer!!! ComSymp!

And that they hand out copies of the Communist Manifesto door to door like Jehovah's Witnesses with The Watch Tower!

I gotta tell ya trolls

The smell of flopsweat and desperation permeates the fabric of this thread as you weave in and out with your breathless and shrill protestations.

I think you should report back to The Troll Central Committee and tell your commissars that the peasants all had pitchforks and torches and barely let you escape with your lives.

Sarah Palin is a crass, classless creature

More of the same.

I want to understand better what Glenn is suggesting as recourse. I think I should read the damn thing again. I wish I didn't find Glenn's work so f@#$ing important. I'll be back.

Oh!, Pedinska

Nothing to be sorry about. Frankly, when all those Ron Paul folks get together with all those Bob Barr folks, the GOP Jesus Freaks will be attending mass in a phone booth.

I do have a question though.....

Why is Hornetdriver here? Isn't he supposed to be over in Afghanistan bombing the shit out of civilians and Yaks from 40,000 feet.

Such courage is required to do that. Almost as much as taking a SAM in the afterburner.

Community Organizer

The image of the community organizer is of a caring individual who joins with others in his community to clean up the neighborhood, try to get a school yard equipment, etc.

The Obama Community organizer is far from that. The idea is to get foundation, corporate, or federal grant money for some kind of innocent do-gooding project. But to use that money to create a poliical organization, register voters, promote "social justice' ideologies, and use that power to get more funds and exercise the power by divvying up the spoils among those "at the table".

Partnering with liberal churches in these endeavors, as Alinsky preached, is wonderful. The organization is a socialist model intended to "change" society along socialist lines. So actually a Community Organizer in the Obama sense is not a laughable nor benevolent position at all. It is a marxist plan to win control of the neighborhood, the city, the . . . . And it has had a lot of success in Chicago, and probably elsewhere in urban america.
