My last response to you. If you don't want someone to belittle your screen name, try using a less arrogant one.
Yeah, right. Does that account for your name-calling of McCain, too? And your past usage of "Repugs" and variations thereof?
Doesn't sound like you ever served in the military. Sounds like you're in, oh, about 7th grade to me.
Still waiting for your response to the deluge of facts about Obama's skeleton in the closet -- you know, the one he's using fascist tactics to try to keep out of the press.
I think Arne has a point. It is entirely possible these Rove clones are paid to be here. Other ones of the same ilk certainly have overrun thenation.com and other sites. And these RWAs HATE Eugene Robinson at the Post. Gene gives them a verbal smackdown every so often. Same with Harold Meyerson.
On topic, I take heart from the polls that Palin's perkiness and McCain's windy bluster are not converting non-GOP fans to the Republican camp. Fact free is still fact free, no matter how loudly one rants.
An earlier poster wrote: "The second day of the Democratic convention, Hannity did a long rant about how disaffected the Clintons were and how flat the convention was."
Hannity?? The Chin That Dares Walk Like A Man?? The guy is an embarrassment to the male gender, and I often wonder if he, like fellow yelper Rush 'Sometimes-A-Cigar-Really-Is-A-Big-Brown-Dick' Limbaugh, is also paedophile. Why are so many of these righties frustrated males?? Wide-stance, page-chasing, adulterous, wife-dumping, misogynists? I guess that's why they're attracted to pookies like Sarah 'Pistol Packin' Mama' Palin, Annie 'The Stick' Coulter, and Malicious Michelle Malkin. Sad, really. The pussy-whipped right . . .
Speaking of frustrated little men. "Knows-better", you really should. Better trolls, please. You're not even mildly amusing. And if you're trying to get a rise out of anyone, I suggest the Men's Room down at your local bus station. Sheesh.
But if you look at the county-by-country map of the 2000 and 2004 elections, you'll see that outside of LA, Santa Barbara, Monterey and the Bay Area (especially Berserkely), California (including the agricultural areas) is mostly red.
That's changing. Richard Pombo found that out.
I'd point out to you that if you look closely at the map, you'll find many more counties in the "LA, Santa Barbara, Monterey and the Bay Area (especially Berserkely)" areas. That's because that's where most of the people are....
Not that we don't have our fill of RW nutcases out here. But generally we keep a muzzle on them so they're not a danger to themselves or others.
Cheers,

And this is based on only last night's speech.
Let's wait until tomorrow to see what really happens.
[some eedjit that goes by the rubric of "Knows Better", responding to RMP]: Doesn't sound like you ever served in the military. Sounds like you're in, oh, about 7th grade to me.
Cheers,
I think it's funny that Joe Biden holds John McCain and Sarah Palin in such great respect, while the Obama/Biden followers can't seem to take the hint.
There's nothing essentially "evil" about any of the Presidential and Vice-Presidential candidates. They've all paid their dues and got to their level of politics by devotion to cause, and a lot of hard work. Not to mention incredible intelligence and talent.
The extreme left, as shown in this Glenn Greenwald editorial, and the extreme right, as shown by the likes of Rush Limbaugh, are equally sickening and delusional.
Time for a reality check folks. Politics ought to be a sifting process in America, not about imagined faults of your perceived enemies. Sift out the chaff from the wheat, measuring the strengths of each candidate and you'll find the best choice. I haven't decided on my vote yet, but I'll never let the dogmatism of the extreme left or right get me to vote a straight party ticket every again.

Wait on those.
Look up the meaning of FAC.
I knew about that before you were born, son.
In fact, I had to straighten some folks out about that recently, although not here. About how they probably had the highest casualty rate of any mission/MOS in Viet Nam. 37%. Definitely higher than a door gunner on a Huey. Right up there with the Huey pilot. But I think I'd rather do either of those jobs than be a tunnel rat, and so would you or any sane person. Look, son. I was born before you and this ain't the old days, which you know nothing about and can only read about. I'll give McCain credit for that, and have even taken some heat for defending him on some accounts here, but vote for him?. Never. He would be a total disaster. And you? Grow up, son. FACs don't really have it that rough any more and that task is being assisted by all kinds of technology they didn't have back then. So take your Rumsfeld small foot print and stick up your tight little sun don't shine. Or put it back in your mouth and execise your right to remain silent.
Citizen Ken,
I don't think you are actually the "independent voter" the Obama campaign is concerned with. But you run your campaign and let them run theirs. They seem to be doing just fine.
Troll infestation.
Vapor in a week with nothing but a bad smell left in the air and no bounce to show for it.
Glenn, hear hear generally. I agree with your response to a commenter that Palin works both ends for the Repubs.
In terms of personally attacking John McCain as you suggest, surely you recognize the risks of that strategy. Nothing rivals the backlash one faces when an attempt to attack fails. The reason attacks such as we saw last night work so well for Republicans is because they are very good at them, and because they know they get the last word in this round and it will be difficult for Obama to respond in kind at the debates.
So my two very honest questions are 1) What are the lines of attack you think would be most effective against John McCain and allow for derisive mockery we saw last night to be returned in kind and 2) Since the Democrats passed up their opportunity to deride and mock John McCain without immediate response, what methods would you suggest for them to launch such attacks so that they are broadly amplified by mass media? I think both are a challenge.
I also wonder how it is that the Democrats allowed their convention to occur the very week before the Republicans so that any and all message from it was so immediately and forcefully rebutted. But that's over and done with now.
