The GOP's cheerful viciousness

Yet again, the GOP launches brutal personality and cultural attacks on the Democratic candidate. Yet again, Democrats seem determined to allow it to do so.

Obama raises 10 million after Palehose speech

McShameful can’t raise any because he is using our taxpayer money. The RNC raised one million. As I said just today, the Repugs are their own worst enemy. (see sig)

Knows Better

The second day of the Democratic convention, Hannity did a long rant about how disaffected the Clintons were and how flat the convention was.

He observed, "I've been to lots of conventions before, but I have never been to one that is as flat as this one. There's absolutely no energy here."

He told us that the polls showed that there was a flat reaction to the convention. "No bounce," he explained. And then it turned out that there was an 8% bounce.

Then came Michelle's speech, and then came Hillary's speech, and then Bill's. One commentator said, "This place is on fire.

The fool went on and on about Obama's 'Greek temple"--the platform at Mile High Stadium, and he played Greek music every time he ridiculed the idea. Finally the nation got a chance to see what he had been ridiculing. They loved it.

Was he ever wrong.

The Bible says, When a prophet is wrong, do not fear his predictions in the future.

About this time on November 4th, you will know the truth. Only then, will you know better.

A Guardian colomn

I read an excellent column in The Guardian the other day, written by an American woman. She expressed what had been clear to many for at least 8 years now. The notion of "an American nation" is fantasy, such a thing doesn't exist. Blue America and Red America are two separate, very different nations. As she said, at best they ignore each other, at worse they despise each other.

OT - Update again, this time documents on Daily Kos

Daisy Cutter has a piece up on Daily Kos about the Siddiqui case, including the deposition filed by Elizabeth Fink.

http://www.dailykos.com/storyonly/2008/9/4/204224/6365

In part, they include:

Dr. Siddiqui has refused all subsequent visits because she will not submit to being strip searched. Recovering from an abdominal gunshot wound with a large surgical incision, it is quite painful for her to bend over, squat and cough. In addition, Dr. Siddiqui is a devout Muslim. It is against her religious beliefs to strip naked in front of strangers. Finally Dr. Siddiqui has been traumatized substantially over the past two months adn for the five years she suffered gross deprivations of her human rights. Strip searches are, in her mind, a continuation of that torture.

As this Court knows, I have had three decades of practice in difficult cases. I have done a lot of prison law and have dealt with hundreds of clients who suffered from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and other psychological disorders. My perception of Dr. Siddiqui is that she is severely traumatized. Based on multiple factors and investigation, I have a good faith basis to believe that she is a victim of torture, and that strip searches exacerbate an existing acute psychological disorder.

Dr. Siddiqui has been evaluated to a limited extent by psychological staff at MDC. Psychological reports, which have been encloseed with this letter, reveal that she has been crying in her cell, neglecting her food tray, and making bizarre requests, including that the turkey from her meal tray be placed in the refrigerator so that it could be sent to her son. According to the reports, Dr. Siddiqui shared her fear with psychological staff that her son was being starved and tortured. A staff psychologist at MDC concluded that

Although her concerns about him being starved and tortured sound somewhat paranoid on the surface, it is also possible that they represent an accurate portrayal of Ms. Siddiqui's experiences with detainment prior to arrival into BOP custody. Furthermore, Ms. Siddiqui's history of exposure to traumatic events is unknown. Therefore PTSD and other acute Axis I disorders cannot be ruled out.

Although I have had a psychologist, Dr. Antonia Cedrone, appointed to examine Dr. Siddiqui by Chief Magistrate Judge Pitman, I have been unable to arrange for Dr. Cedrone to visit with Dr. Siddiqui or to conduct an examination because of MDC's requirement that Dr. Siddiqui be strip-searched before any visit. At my request, Dr. Cedrone has reviewed the psychological reports prepared by MDC staff and prepared an analysis, a draft of which I have reviewed and the final version of which I will deliver to the Court tomorrow. Based on the information in the MDC reports and anecdotal information, Dr. Cedrone is of the opinion that "Dr. Siddiqui's mental condition has deteriorated significantly since her confinement at MDC," and concurs with the MDC psychologist that Dr. Siddiqui is "showing signs of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and other acute mental disorders."

The report goes on to cite a Washington Post investigative reporter who has sources in both the American and Pakistani government who confirm that Siddiqui was taken into custody by Pakistani intelligence in 2003, and transferred to CIA custody and held for 5 years, "with at least one if not two of her children."

(RMP was that you?), but since the campaign is now in full swing and we've attracted so many lively new trolls, this is for all of you. It proves that Sweet Barack (Al)Obama is actually a Communist Agent, completely unprepared to fight the New Cold War with Russia!

Mr. Snoid

... since the campaign is now in full swing and we've attracted so many lively new trolls, ...

I've noticed a lively infestation elswhere as well. Ya think that the troops got their marching orders? Should we ask them whether they were assigned a blog to disrupt, or whether they got to pick the one they liked (or disliked, as the case may be)?

Let's just ask them each time they pop their heads up.

It's like weeds right after a shower, I tell ya. Coinkydence? I don't thiiiiinnnnkkk sooooooo.

Cheers,

Poor Obama and Biden

"Yet again, the GOP launches brutal personality and cultural attacks on the Democratic candidate."

Boy, that's shocking, just shocking. It's not like any Democrat ever did this. Then again, I think this sort of thing started about 1800 when John Adams and Thomas Jefferson were engaging in one of the nastiest campaigns in American History.

And "brutal" attacks, my goodness! Are Obama and Biden in the hospital?

Look, Obama/Biden are effectively war criminals by supporting the war in Iraq (by funding it) and have acted as Bush's useful idiots by refusing to hold him or anyone in his administration accountable for any crimes. Also, they have joined in the Washington cesspool by voting for or supporting anti-civil liberties horrors like the Patriot Act and amnesty for corporate spies.

So excuse me if I'm not feeling too sorry for these creeps running to rule the world because Sarah Palin is hurting their feelings.

Also, it's impossible to really prove why Kerry lost. Maybe, just maybe, he lost because he was a crappy candidate, not because of Mr. Rove.

Vote for nobody in 2008.
