I hope this proves to be a black eye for the St. Paul police. They chose to arrest a journalist with impressive credentials and far more credibility than the corporate media talking heads could ever dream of. And she's got the means of publicizing this.
I tried calling the numbers provided by Democracy Now!'s website. The mailbox was full at the mayor's office; I waited on hold for ten minutes before hanging up from the jail (sorry, but I've got only so many minutes!) Anyway, I hope that means phones at both numbers were overwhelmed.
These things will continue to happen and get worse for all citizens until the citizens stop it.
This is what the bush cheney criminal government has wanted all along that is why they pulled off 911 for the police state.

Glenn, if you need more help than this please contact me via my email (you have it already).
and causing log-jams... there was a report of a delegate bus stuck and then with broken windows ...
No, such actions will not / cannot go unanswered ... they demand to be "answered" ... yes, "isn't that the point?" query: to whom and for what purpose?
It's not a black-and-white "my way or the highway" issue ... particularly when it moves beyond nonviolent civil disobedience (which also results in arrests and bail and legal entanglements) ...
It's worth some serious meditation, imho, and putting your money where your mouth is...
I will support and defend all efforts to ensure First Ammendment rights are not abridged ... my solidarity with delegate bus window smashers, not so much.
From a distance, I can vicariously "admire" the spunk and energy of these youthful "marauders," while at the same time understanding well where "PLATE" is coming from ...
As alaways, what is the intended message? what is the message "received"?

Amy Goodman is one of the few journalists left who actually does her job. Democracy Now is such a fantastic news source. This is absolutely outrageous. Will this get the attention it deserves from the major news organizations?
See how you feel about the following edit of your post. I'm not trying to be insulting or gratuitously provocative, but it seems to me that the answer to your non-rhetorical question has a lot to do with whose ox, as it were, is being gored.
It seems obvious that the IDF violated the right to free speech of many of the Palestinian civilians assembled. But that doesn't mean that there wasn't a legitimate danger from Hamas fighters who had joined the protests. This does bring up interesting issues that would be worth discussing. Just what should the IDF have done to protect them and to protect civilians from being caught up in any violence? I'm not saying that the IDF were right, but one way to try to figure out how to solve problems is to put yourself in the place first of the people you perceive to be causing them. Just what should the IDF have done? We're all adults, we know that every protest is about 90% great people, and about ten percent violent jerks who want to destroy thngs. And that's a pretty loud and active ten percent. What should the IDF have done instead? This isn't a rhetorical question. If you can't answer that question, then critique, beyond initial rage, isn't very valid.
If the same questions aren't equally applicable, then why not? Exactly why?
I'm surprised that people are jumping to conclusions that the police are being fascist etc.
I don't know the facts and Glenn isn't presenting the facts so how can we judge? For all I know, some of the protesters were planning violent action. I've been to left-wing meetings in tame old Australia, where they advocate violence in response to the violence of capitalism or some such nonesense.
We have to wait for the evidence before saying this is fascism etc. Without evidence, it just looks like "us vs them". But I certainly don't think the police woke up a few mornings ago and said, "Hey, let's be fascists today."
When Glenn gets hysterical like this, it just makes me lose respect for him. And I lose respect for those who comment when they go along with it. Such raw emotional reactions come from some childhood trauma or something, not from objective facts. Of course the rightwingers have their own version of that.
Listen, you punk goofball, I can out-party, out party-hearty and party you right out any day of the week.
And you can't stop me from voting Dem. No matter what you do.
