Credibility
It's obvious that the police were seriously heavy handed but it would lend a bit of credibility to the reporting if you at least mentioned some of the protestors (the anarchists?)who were equally out of hand if not more so. I saw video of protestors assaulting police as well. This in no way excuses the behavior of the police. I'm just sayin.

Video? Something, please?
Salazar arrest:

Glenn just linked to it in Update IX. I also linked it in an earlier post.
I actually can see the video only on the front page - democracynow.com. (My computer doesn't recognize the formats on the page Glenn linked.) It's the first thing on the page - it's, I believe, the entirety of today's show. The interview with the two producers is also in there.
The video of the arrest is right at the beginning. I actually find the sound more powerful than the video.

Thank you pajaro505, that was certainly provocative. Wonder if they caught that guy?
Yes, I've been reading her account. I don't have RealPlayer, don't like it. It sounds a bit more problematic and I find her quite credible but if she was trying to keep filming at the same time as she was trying to get out of the way...
Look, if Amy wanted to get arrested, she did a good job. If journalists want to know how to cover these things and steer clear of the police at the same time, there are ways to do that. I can't make a judgment about Nicole because I can't see it but if she was holding the camera, that's not really the angle I want to see.
• Wake up people of America! If these recent incidents of police abuse, against the citizens of this country, don't make you pay attention, nothing will! This type of police activity has been on the rise for years, especially the last eight years. It's up to the citizens of this country to protect the constitution! The politicians will not do so! They take their marching orders from the corporations which are responsible for protecting their lofty positions. The police take their marching orders from the bought and paid for politicians. Their orders are to quell any voices of dissent that would disrupt the agenda of the corporate power structure which controls the government. What a sad state of affairs for our once proud democracy, which is now, nothing more than a fascist police state! Hitler would be proud! I recently saw comments in the Washington Post which illustrate the true nature of the badly tarnished Republican brand. First many of the posters there blather about how Democrats are racists, and in the next breath, begin spewing hate and racism toward a black women who is a well respected media personalty and activist. And now, the arrest of Amy Goodman from Democracy Now! A direct attack on journalists and the constitution! What hypocrites! The Republicans then go on to spew the propaganda they are so famous for by saying that Democrats have it all wrong, when in fact, 80% of the public think the country is headed in the wrong direction after eight years of failed Republican policy! The hate filled sniveling by Republicans show just how desperate the party has become, as they flail, grasping for any straws they can reach. The sad thing is Republicans who are not multi millionaires, are so stupid, that they vote against their own best interests! Any astute observer of politics knows that in order to benefit from Republican policies, you have to be very wealthy. The Democrats will sweep the Republicans into the dust bin of history come November! And Democrats! To make sure that happens, keep a close eye on this election to make sure it is not stolen by the crooked Republicans, who at this point, will do ANYTHING to stay in POWER, and out of PRISON!
When the cop is dragging his quarry on the ground and you can see both of that person's arms out to his sides, what is the cop dragging the person by?
Their neck? Their hair? What?
SHARIF ABDEL KOUDDOUS: Well, that’s another thing. And I said—I kept saying—they kept asking me, “What are you doing here? Why are you here?” I said, “We’re press. We’re here to bear witness to what’s going on, and that’s why we’re in the streets.” And he kept saying, “Oh, you should use a telescopic lens,” or, “You know, when it gets rowdy, you should just stay behind the corner.” I said, “No, that’s not what we’re here to do. You need to respect the fact that we’re media. If someone’s carrying a camera, you don’t tackle them to the floor.” And this is respected widely in most of the world, but there seems to have been, in this country, a violation of that separation, and media are treated very badly, frankly. And this—it seems to be getting worse, especially in this RNC, with these preemptive raids, as w

We are not being apologists for the jackbooted thugs. I think the couple of folks who have dropped by and made these claims are sincere and credible. I suspect there are many more out there and similar video and photographic evidence. There were hotheads and jerks on both sides. There always are. It only takes a handful of these asshats to screw up the whole party.
It seems to me the cop's reaction was pretty over the top. Why had he even grabbed that guy in the first place?
And if that's the worst incident of protester violence caught on tape--some cop getting shoved--it's not very incendiary. Doesn't seem to justify the level of force at work.
