No response on why Amy Goodman hasn't been covering the leadup to the Republican convention?
I really don't get your bizarre fixation on Amy Goodman's faults, and I actually don't want to, but Democracy Now is in Minnesota and had a crew at at least one of the other houses being raided. How does that affect all your Goodman-cetric conspiracy theories?
Go figure. You don't need a global conspiracy for that. You just need cops. GG's histrionic headlines notwithstanding this kind of thing happens all the time.
As a native Minnesotan, the news of these raids saddens me. The initial descriptions of what was going on suggests that the police applied excessive force against these people. It looks like police did manage to scoop up some potentially incriminating materials at one of the houses, but as fara as I can see the reports suggests that at other houses no such materials were found. My first guess is that once one of the houses was found to contain such materials, the police overreacted and widened the scope of their operation.
Looking at the comments at the Minneapolis-St. Paul Star Tribune (http://www.startribune.com/politics/27695244.html?elr=KArksLckD8EQDUoaEyqyP4O:DW3ckUiD3aPc:_Yyc:aULPQL7PQLanchO7DiUs) one can see some more about the reaction to the raids. I would guess that a lot of the reaction is based on a latent dislike for the kinds of people who might be involved in protests. Judging from one of the comments, it looks like the reactionary "If you're against the war you're against the troops" style of thinking is showing itself here ("If you criticize the police for this you must have something against police officers").
I hate to say I told you so but I told you so. If the neo cons get re-elected you can expect this to becomes business as usual. Yes, it sounds crazy that they would be planning to 'liquidate' or suppress all political opposition to their far right agenda but they are. It's what Hitler did and look how well it worked for him. I'm joking. Like all ideologues they simply cannot tolerate anyone who differs from their rigid and extreme beliefs. They're still fighing the wars of the seventies with the anti-Vietnam protestors. They know they lost the war in two places, at home and in Vietnam and they're still mad as hell about it. And they're also simply mad. They would like to round all these 'troublemakers' up and draft them into the army. Can you imagine how angry they are that they can't draft anyone into the army? War is the meaning of life to them and they intend to fight on both fronts.

The Denver Post story is what one would expect from an American local paper; but it does have a few facts.

So did lynchings, gang rapes, and the murder of infants. Does their routine occurrence mean those are equally acceptable?
The "pie in the face" routine happens as well. It stops being funny when it happens to you.
This is unacceptable and should not be tolerated. And it sure as hell shouldn't be just brushed off as nothing.
So, can we assume you won't be complaining here when cops do the same to you?
This police state behavior is disgusting and wrong. Glenn and Jane.. thanks for the great coverage.
Republicans certainly are frightened these days, when they have SWAT teams intimidating peaceful kids.
1. This is really sad, and saddest of all, it is really predictable. The GOP will stop at nothing to prevent any disruption of their choreographed infomercial (cf. NYC police riot, 2004).
2. Whoever shot the video seriously needs to get some basic training in how to hold a camera. Focusing on people, not walls or the floor, is always a good first step.

the biggest danger is always agent provocateurs ... so you keep your nose clean and used secure communications of "sensitive" information only with people you know ...
It's basic security... Treat all newcomers as narcs, vett and watch them best you can, and know that they STILL may be informers or, worse, provocateurs who will encourage impressionable people to do illegal things for the direct purpose of raids like this ...
boastful boys with loose lips ... chatty cathies impressing their friends ...
God willing they were sensible ...
Pigasus II should be nominated in the Twin Cities.

Is there some post you can point to that you wrote about police raids coming on potential protesters, which is followed by a series of comments from others saying, "No way. That's not going to happen."?
I was just about to ask him myself.
I suppose such a long list of suspected items is typical in such cases. But I imagine the cops brainstorming, trying to think of any objects and materials the DFHs might throw at them.
I think they might have left out eggs, though. Would that have been just too silly? Seriously---is there any kind of object that, whether practically or constitutionally, can't be listed on a warrant? Say, air or water?
What caught my eye (other than hollow puppets, which I guess could contain bombs) was that digital cameras are now automatically suspicious. Not film cameras, but digital ones.
Why? The only difference is in the speed with one can post images on the Web. And what does that have to do with plans to disrupt traffic and throw shit at cops?
Hi Glenn any chance you can mention what large tv/cable news networks are covering this incase they do not air the coverage so we can call or write to complain about their suppression of the news?
