I posted last night that I saw it covered and then replayed later on CNN. Incredibly, they reported that the police-siezed buckets of urine, etc., were said to have been obtained from a subject house with no working plumbing.

Apart from the dictator-style horror this incident displays, I wanted to make a logistical comment.

The first video in which the "hippie house" tenants are being interviewed is hard to understand because of the low volume of the video footage. Would the editors be able to transcribe the inaudible parts and add some subtitles to the video? I think that would greatly help people understand it better and get more out of it.

Wake up people of America! If these recent incidents of police abuse, against the citizens of this country, don't make you pay attention, nothing will! This type of police activity has been on the rise for years, especially the last eight years. The people voted in 2006 to change the direction in which the country was headed. Nothing has changed! The killing in an illegal war continues! People are still being illegally wiretapped! The assault on the Constitution continues with reckless abandon! The Justice Department is dysfunctional! And, the public continues being ripped off by out of control corporations who are engaging in war profiteering! It's up to the citizens of this country to protect the constitution! The politicians will not do so! They take their marching orders from the corporations which are responsible for protecting their lofty positions. The police take their marching orders from the bought and paid for politicians. Their orders are to quell any voices of dissent that would disrupt the agenda of the corporate power structure which controls the government. What a sad state of affairs for our once proud democracy, which is now, nothing more than a fascist police state.

The only one I don't have is brake fluid, though I know there is some in my car somewhere, I hope.

What is an organization called "Food for Bombs" doing with a organization like the RNC Welcoming Committee which advocates violence on their website? The RNC WC is not for free speech, they are stifling it. These guys are simply thugs coming to our city with the intention of violent disruption. Why defend them?

Nobody is going to cover the groups that ARE going to protest. Those who did the hard, tedious work of going through proper channels. Those who might/likely will be arrested and harassed from the fall out from groups like the RNC Welcoming Committee.

I have know a lot of police people (a lot of policewomen in the lot) and almost all are not worth the air they consume. Rotten control freaks who think everyone who is not a cop is a criminal and deserves to be beaten or worse.

Wake up, folks, this isn't just a RNC, or DNC, problem, it's rampant and across all political lines. Until we all realize that and speak out against it regardless of political affiliation, it will continue and grow.

My personal experience in interactions and acquaintance with police officers has been very different, and mostly positive.

I think a lot depends on where one lives. Some police departments and agencies have considerably higher standards than others, and pay better. Some locations only require the completion of a high school G.E.D.

Also- if ever there were a phenomenon that would seem to dramatically demonstrate the action of the Heisenberg Principle- that the expectations of the observer influence the outcome and backwash of a given experiment/situation- it would be encounters with police. If you're bound and determined that all you see in front of you is a "pig", you're much more liable to have those expectations fulfilled.

That said, they do what they're told. That includes dressing up in expensive Ninja Turtle suits and faceless helmets paid for by Federal funds, and acting like paramilitaries. I'ts nearly impossible to have a personal interaction under those conditions, which is of course part of what the adoption of those tactics is about in the first place.

And that in turn has a lot to do with the decisions of local political authorities- as well as the political climate that has upheld the Drug War state of siege in this country, which has done so much to condition the American citizenry for resignation to the more recent paramilitarizations related to the perpetual Terror War.
