Massive police raids on suspected protesters in Minneapolis

Several "hippie homes" are raided this morning by semi-automatic-weapon-wielding police squads.

The letters thread is now closed.

Fascism Alive And Well In Minnesota

It will never end until the people demand it and the politicians think they'll be voted out unless something is done. I'm sure the stooges for the right will think this is just swell......

Chicago '68??

This whole thing is starting to sound like the Democratic Convention in Chicago in 1968 when Mayor Daly and his goons and the military beat the H--- out of us (I was there !!)

Mainstream media needs to report this story

I emailed the news department at the New York Times about the events described in this post and included a link to Greenwald's story. I really think a story like this deserves mainstream attention, but I fear that unauthorized police raids of private homes have become to commonplace for the media to pay much attention. Either that, or our esteemed forth estate has become to entwined with the rich and politically powerful to risk their own skin by reporting their abuses of constitutional law.

groups were infiltrated

the star-tribune story on this (front page yesterday) noted that many of the groups whose members' homes were raided were actually infiltrated for years by police--this is more chilling to me than the actual raids.

Like I said before, Bill Ayers is available. Let's get him up there, and show the kids how to build bombs in their homes.

Defense Against Cop Harassment

I am from Minnesota and have dealt with the crooked cops, and judges here. . . You use the law against them. These links give an outline which has worked for me.

LWM

If the intersection was blocking access to a bridge, then maybe an ambulance could be blocked. I don't think someone has to cross the river between Minneapolis and St. Paul to find a hospital. What have totally benign demonstrations accomplished in putting a stop to the criminal acts by our government? The M$M needs something sensational to pay attention to those noisy lefties and unimportant citizens.

I have heard people on this thread say that we need something dramatic as happened in the Nam protests to actually make a difference. I am not advocating dangerous violence. The only war protest in Chicago that got significant media attention was when traffic was snarled on a major lake shore drive by marchers insisting on walking down it.

first -

- you read this on Sunday morning and you feel sick right away and hardly don’t know what to say.

Second you read Jebbies post and you have to smile a little.

Third you read Adnotos response and you want to sent him right away to St.Paul to fight the evildoers. Then suddenly there is Heru again complaining about the comedians on the thread and you start to cry – But then you read LWM’s post - that it just looks like a drug raid and you remember the time you were traveling with your uncle (who looks like the stereotypical drug dealer – rastas and all) and you remember all the curious policemen (even some ‘black’ ones) and you think perhaps the Police just mistook the house for a marihuana farm – But then you read LWM’s second post and you realize - that showing others the peace sign might (still) be a very dangerous proposition in America - because my dad always gets on everybodies nerve how dangerous it was in the 70th to use the peace sign – and you think why should these guys have it easier than your own dad and then you feel bad that you are such an egocentric idiot and then you start thinking long and hard about your homeland and how after 911 your Grandfather saw terrorists lurking behind every Bush and you think why do have your fellow country men always have to go to these extremes and you forsee another shouting match between your grandfather who will yell these anarchist have deserved it and another guy I will not name talking about Police State etc. and then you have to walk into the den and throw a Jon Stewart into the CD player because there is no comic relief on the UT thread and you don’t want to cry all day!
