Could we post it online.
It would be nice if we could get other lawyers interested in action. Maybe some trial lawyers to ask killer questions on these taped interviews, particularly when questioning the officers. You guys have the video feed, and since national press isn't interested, why bother with them.
We don't really need the press if we have bloggers interested enough to get these stories.
Concerned about living in a police state? GMAFB. Get used to it people. You chose it after all. You choose it every day through your inaction. You can become more shrill and whine as much as you want. Unless you actually do something about it, you are just waiting your turn.
One Question, Glenn"Here is the first of the videos, from the house that had just been raided:"Do you know if adnoto was there and if so, in what capacity?
Arrestee or arrester? -- Jebbie
It's all a big fucking joke ain't it Jebbie? Nothing is important is it? It's all chuckles. Police raids and "I hope they got the guy I don't like in the UT comments threads!" You are an amazing POS.
adnoto:
Police raids and "I hope they got the guy I don't like in the UT comments threads!"
Unless you're posting from jail, you've both missed his point and proven it.
I'd love to see that line of cars fleeing New Orleans keep right on going, head all the way up to St. Paul, and join in the protests. THEN the GOP would see some righteously irate citizens.
Thanks for posting about this Glenn, and for the work you're doing there. Lord knows I'll never read anything about it in the LA Times.
Oh!, JebbieDo you know if adnoto was there and if so, in what capacity? Thanks for that cheeky little post. That's the first time I've laughed all week. -- ethics_professor
Do you fucking people ever listen to yourselves or bother to think about what you are saying/writing? That's funny? Why because you don't like me? Because I have been telling you shit you haven't wanted to hear?
The idea that I might be forced to submit, handcuffed, berated, intimidated, threatened or otherwise abused is funny? The idea that this happens alot these raids.... that innocent people are often intmidated, beaten and even sometimes killed by the state's enforcers is funny? What if I was your son or daughter? What if those kids were your kids?
How bad does it have to get before it isn't funny anymore? If I had been an outspoken Jew who was thrown on a train headed to out of town, Jebbie would have thought it was a good time to make a joke?
There is something wrong with you people. I am literally both shaking with rage and sick to my stomach. You disgust me.
Unless you're posting from jail, you've both missed his point and proven it. -- SusanMc
I've missed the point? Why don't you explain it to me then? Because the point, to me, is that this isn't in any way shape or form something to joke about. This shit is happening right before our eyes - this descent into a complete authoritarian police state. You are going to contend that Jebbie wasn't making a joke about it?
Fuck you I've missed the point.
Is there any chance these raids - especially those done without warrants - could be justified by the new FISA law?
Considering that Biden proudly authored the original Patriot Act back during the Clinton Administration, perhaps the groups should have been protesting the Democratic National Convention...
from Glenn's Sun. Aug 24 article...
"I drafted a terrorism bill after the Oklahoma City bombing. And the bill John Ashcroft sent up was my bill." - Joe Biden
It also amazes me that most Obama supporters don't know that Obama wants to increase the size of the Military.
"Barack Obama supports plans to increase the size of the Army by 65,000 soldiers and the Marines by 27,000 troops." - barakobama.com/issues/defense/
I refuse to continue to vote myself into slavery. My abstention may not matter, but at least I will know that I will not have supported another supporter of the merchants of death.
if you can freely report Constitutional violations, yet nothing happens as a result, does it matter if you have a free press?I keep hearing people say things like, "If you lived in China you wouldn't even know these things are happening!"
SO?
Are the citizens of Minneapolis rallying to march on the police station, level it, and reestablish the rule of law? That's what's called for here.
Instead what's going to happen is that a few yippies on Salon will bitch a lot and things will go on as they were. Except that I may end up on some watch list for pointing out that the police should not be used as the private army of one political party. -- Allie_
Agreed Allie. I would take issue with only one portion of your comment. The idea that the police are used as the private army of one political party. Wait... actually you are completely correct. The Republicans and the Democrats are one political party. But if you really want to be more precise... the police are used as the private army of the Establishment Elite. The "rule of law" (such as it is) and the police are not there to serve and protect the average citizen. They are there for crowd control and intimidation to keep the average joe's and jane's in line.
The rest of the comment is unquestionably accurate.
Thanks Allie
Your "right of self-defense" against a military invasion (that is what it really is) of your home is possible and will go as well as a Palestinian with his little stone taking on the Israeli Genocide Force. (that is the name of their army is it not?)
In a home invasion by American Thugs (sometimes misnamed "police") the homeowner has no chance. He especially has no chance if he has women folk and children in the house to think of. The time to fight a swat team is when the city council is thinking of allowing the demon-impersonators to form on your local police force in the first place --- and, good luck with that in America.
