Massive police raids on suspected protesters in Minneapolis

Several "hippie homes" are raided this morning by semi-automatic-weapon-wielding police squads.

The letters thread is now closed.

I agree!

About time society decided not to let troublemakers disrupt other people's gatherings. Enough of the noisy tiny minority who could care less about the rights of others.

Brutal law enforcement troublemakers who have no regard for the law that they are sworn to uphold should not be allowed to disrupt the peaceful gatherings of law-abiding citizens who just want to enjoy their constitutional rights to free speech and public protest. Enough of the noisy tiny minority of proto-fascist authoritarians who could care less about the rights of others.

Now, Toby Keith concerts and Dennis Miller shows--those should be banned and his fans locked up permanently as dangerous menaces to society. Enough of the noisy tiny minority who could care less about the rights of others to be free of the crazed mouth farts of overcompensating rednecks and insecure tools. And if you don't agree, say hello to my little Birckenstock friend...

write more, write everywhere, expose ourselves....

http://www.startribune.com/local/27703754.html?page=2&c=y

all these brilliant Salon writers: do more

write the Star Tribune or other newspapers of the area, and be intelligent, direct, clever,

and expose your reactions to what has happened...

dont let the ones who like Raids, panty raids, activist raids, roach raids, whatever .... those who agree with the Sheriff dont let them be the only ones read on those Minneapolis websites without a response from us !

please, take your comments to the sources where those who live in the area, perhaps, can see there are other smart reactive responders, first or fourth responders, to

share our views of their Police excesses.

Dont vent, just be the fascinating writers I see here on Salon, but take it to those streets...it might help just a bit more...

*exposure*... of opinions that have a reasonable side instead of their side = fear of activists or loud disrupters [no crime].

We love to write/talk to ourselves and form these locked-in enclaves for safety. So this is another good time to expand into letter- writing elsewhere too.... briefly, politely, not attacking or insulting, but saying we shall be heard or read in their cities as well. Flood their lines with honest

reactions to the over-use of infiltration & force on those who have committed no serious crimes.

And can someone who knows tell us the legal criteria for "incite to violence" ?

what is actually required for such a label, accusation to be made or branded upon a person ?

Collecting weapons [most vets have at least a few in their homes ], having various cutting tools [most American houses and garages are cluttered with them], having a website that says some people dream of being powerful disrupters [ask your manly friends what they dream about beyond sex ]...

what has to proven to assume there is danger and that inciting is a negative dangerous act ? Anyone care to share ?

exposure of our smart letters here can be taken outside of our safety zone. wanna ?

-I can forgive the Congress for not impeaching, believing that the most important thing is orderly succession. -

I cannot. There is no excuse on earth for not incarcerating these evil bastards.

-If we make it to Jan 20, 2009 with a new president, especially if it is not McCain, we stand a good chance of bringing the Bush regime to justice. -

Not. It is not going to happen. Not from any official source. The writing is on the wall. Read it and weep.

-It is unlikely that an Obama regime will be even remotely as criminal as the Bush gang, and he is likely to make great progress in many areas.-

Okay....if you say so.

-His support of the FISA bill may actually have been a stealth vote. He's that smart. After he's in office we can go to work on vigorous support for real law and order.-

Now you've lost me. 'Smart', yes. 'Stealth vote', I sincerely doubt that. Obama is likely to be an AIPAC bootlicker like any US president who is desperate enough to gain power to agree succumb to a public Christian vetting on TV. A real man would have told the Christies to fuck off.

I do not share your optimism but you are welcome to it if it feels good.

There will be no day of reckoning. We are all going to be 'reaching across the aisle', don'tcha know?

All Repugligans will walk away scott-free.

Elephant-panties

I just thought of the perfect guy to stick some C4 up his pachydermal booty and hold his nose and plug his ears as he ignites the wick.

Funny how a has-been 'revolutionary' (Ayers) from a bygone era is now a 'terrorist' boogeyman all of a sudden. Pulled that out of inventory, did you? I guess Castro keeps pinheads like you up all night. Keep working that angle. Some people have actually heard of him.

You and your ilk make me sick to my pants.

A bit tired.....

This same thing happened to me a long time ago in San Francisco during the Rodney King demonstrations. I wasn't politically active at the time, but lived in a poor neighborhood that had been associated with some violence that had gone on the night before. I was arrested along with seven hundred people and literally disappeared in an adjacent county's jail. The police had used city buses to take us all, and they had kept our names out of the system so that we could not be bailed out and after three days we were simply released. The National Lawyer's Guild managed to win a class action on our behalf after about eight years of litigation.

But to be very, very honest, I'm not sure I can be shocked about this kind of thing anymore when I hear about it in this context. You mean they arrested innocent middle class white people (and then let them go)? Good heavens!

Yes, I know its wrong. But its sad to me that it always seems to be these denials of civil liberties that get the most attention, while they daily grind based on skin color, ethnicity and income goes on unnoticed and unreported. I'm not saying not to report this, Glenn Greenwald. Thanks, you're doing your job. But I'm tired. I'm jaded. Hate me.
