Still got that "glimmer of hope" Glenn?
No - I'm hoping to join the crowd of super-sophisticates now by talking about how hopeless everything is, how nothing can be changed, how all is lost, how it's all pointless, how only the naive and foolish would care.
I need to feel cool and sophisticated and above-it-all so I've decided to become a resigned defeatist who endless whines about the joys of hopelessness and then struts around thinking that this makes me wise (while shouting at everyone about how my defeatism makes me so wise just in case they don't see it for themselves).
obama wouldn't have gotten beyond Iowa if he wasn't black and if clinton hadn't been overconfident. he was a do nothing part of the chicago political machine and a go along senator for a miniscule part of his time there before he started running for President which really was immediately.
So now you can see alternative timelines, on top of seeing menacing Canadian hordes? Exactly what have you been smoking/chewing/drinking/injecting? Sounds like pretty powerful stuff.
you aren't angry at me. you're angry at yourself for being so badly taken in and realizing how easily McCain is going to take it away.
Projection. Not unexpected here, but still unpleasant to see.
See ya kovie. -- tiberius
I doubt heavily kovie will need the kind of hospitalization you clearly need, so the chance of you meeting are pretty much nill.
Local reporting indicates that the police were "seizing a dizzying array of items, including a machete, a hatchet, throwing knives, axes, bolt cutters, equipment used in rappelling – and three 5-gallon buckets of urine."
So there it is, our civil rights have just established a market value - 15 gallons of piss. Thanks George, Dick et al. History is already laughing at you.
What once was hyperbole has become reality. The US is a police state.
It must be painful living a life of fear.
UPDATE: There has been some speculation that Gov Sarah Palin is just as — or more — qualified than Barack Obama. Let’s try to put that to rest by re-running this post from July 31, 2008, by our MsJoanne.Much has been made of Obama’s lack of accomplishments, that he hasn’t done anything, that he’s an empty suit, and all the other inexperience meme’s you can think of.
I wonder, do you find the following empty (details after the fold)? And thank you Helenann at DailyKos for your efforts! I quote her in full below (Note that I changed the formatting and order of some of the data for ease in reading. Nothing else was changed.) :

It has really been bothering me - the charges that Obama is all talk and no action. Those of us who support him and have reviewed his record know there is no basis to this charge, but just to make sure, I went to the Congressional Record (www.thomas.gov) and did a search for bills sponsored or co-sponsored by Senator Obama in his three short years in the US Senate. I searched the 109th and 110th Congresses which cover the years 2005-2007.
In a nut shell I found:
Senator Obama has sponsored or co-sponsored 570 bills in the 109th and 110th Congress.
Senator Obama has sponsored or co-sponsored 15 bills that have become LAW since he joined the Senate in 2005.
Senator Obama has also introduced amendments to 50 bills, of which 16 were adopted by the Senate.
His record is in fact quite impressive for a junior Senator from Illinois.
Most of his legislative effort has been in the areas of:

It being Saturday at the beginning of a 3-day weekend, I assume we won't hear any of their stories until Tuesday. When the hurricane hits and blots out the rest of the news.
I'm just saying ... there is a recognized use ... and I really doubt it's illegal ....
ditto throwing knives and axes and hatchets or rock climbing equipment ...
... there are recognized uses ... and I really doubt it's illegal to possess any of this ....
let's see what is alleged wrt to which individuals, living in which houses.
God! Are you two in Pakistan?
This is great reporting. Real live, can't call it anything else, but journalism. Thanks for reminding me what it looks like. It's been gone so long I hardly remember its face.
IMHO, Bruce Nestor is a hero.
Do be careful, okay? Heads up. Ears on. Alert. Careful.
they thought they'd found Saddam Hussein's WMD cachet, what in the name of jutice were these SWAT teams doing thre? On whose orders? And what was the reasoning behind the warrents?
Just sick.
I had missed this before today:
Poo and pee dominated a public hearing Monday on a new law that prohibits people from carrying certain items if they intend to use them for nefarious purposes.
The law, crafted in advance of the Democratic National Convention, was adopted unanimously by the City Council. But not before a hearing laced with comedy and profanity.
/snip/
The hearing got personal when Spagnuolo took aim at Councilman Doug Linkhart, who was quoted in the New York Post as saying that a source told him that he knew of a home being used to store urine. "The only feces that I'm concerned about is the (expletive) that comes out of his mouth," Spagnuolo said.

and reasonable search and seizure laws work how when dealing with thought crimes?
I was reading article on this issue in some of the local newspapers and I couldn't believe some (most) of the comments left there. Here's a sampling:
"The people of Minnesota should not let the rule of law get in the way of national security. If President Bush wants to arrest protesters because they might be terrorists then who are we to disagree with his judgment? Lock them up for a while until they learn to shut up."
"All this yapping about the "loss of our civil liberties" is nothing but mindless, ignorant babble from the lips of tin-foil hat wearing loons."
"If you support any type of action like this, you are a terrorist. Pure and simple." (referring to the protesters)
"These terrorists have no right to disrupt the important business at the Republican convention...There should be a rule against speaking out against the true patriots like McCain and Bush. In a time of war, it only hurts morale."
"I don't WORRY about the police coming to my door and raiding my house, for one simple reason - I don't do anything illegal. If I was a moron and collected buckets of urine, and opened my mouth constantly about how I was going to be destructive, then yes - I might be worried..But since I abide by the laws of the land - I don't worry about being raided."
"All you need to do is look at these people and listen to what they are trying to say and you'll realize how misguided and stupid they really are. I hope the police execute them one by one and throw them in a ditch, haha."
"I love seeing these people in handcuffs and leg restraints"

I think that the attitude of most of these people scares me as much as the raids themselves. Sometimes I wish these people would just move to communist China or the Middle East if they so badly want to live under authoritarian rule. Seriously, these people scare the shit out of me.
