...for standing up for Rachel Maddow.
Her radio show delivers the most information per unit time of any. Avoiding the typical superficialities and distractions that preoccupy news media, she keeps spotlight on our most crucial issues. She remains down-to-earth and is incredibly hard-working.
It's great that she'll have a TV show. But TV is more focused on the political horse-race, and the visual adds an emotional element that eclipses objectivity. So, I'm especially glad that she's keeping her radio show.
OTOH, a lot of her fans have suggested that she give major attention to the issues on her show, and I bet she will!
Thanks again!
Maddow may be liberal leaning, but she can be balanced. The fact she could be side by side with Buchanan, and even garner his respect was pretty amazing. She will be much better that Dan Abram's 'Verdict'. I'm glad to see his silly show going. I just hope she does not allow them to make her show 'silly' and an entertainment piece.
Glenn Beck CNN is an ass. He cannot conduct interviews without interruptions. CAn some tell me where they dug pp Campbell Brown, on CNN.
Icr
Hillary Clinton and Hillary Clinton alone is responsible for her defeat and I am not implying he is not. However, I do find it ironic that the so called liberal Obama on a host of issues is actually more conservative than Hillary the neo-con. How do I know? I actually watched the debates, read his his campaign literature and listen to his responses. It's Obama who keeps hinting we have to do something about Social Security. Its Obama who refuses to have a universal mandate for health care. Its Obama who is troubled by affirmative action and is hinting he would consider a system based on income not race or gender. Its Obama who voted for FISA and Cheney's energy plan. Its Obama making cutesy with the right on abortion Is he better than McCain, yes he is, but I refuse to drink the cool-aide, he is not a liberal.
I see those right leaning Hillary trolls dropped in here...the ones who pretend to be Democrats who supported Hillary.
I did click on your link and read Mr. Frank's piece. Yes, I agree, quite dispiriting stuff. Makes Canada look real good. But I thought about how we are all talking about this here, the embarrassing and consistently low numbers of the current occupant of the White House and how this brand of "conservatism" is falling out of favor. The very fact of Barack Obama's candidacy says that this nonsense has had its day. We may see a repudiation of this kind of thinking (assuming Obama wins and Democrats strengthen their hold on Congress) for a generation or more. The Great Depression ushered in a new kind of governance only after this sort of "corporatist" thinking failed miserably. Now it's failed several times since then, but never in so pronounced and far reaching fashion (at least in modern times) as now. THIS STUFF DOES NOT WORK as a practical matter. People get really fed up with it. And the fact is, in order for this bunch of hokum to have any life at all, it needs believers. Despite the bombast we're hearing from the McCain people, believers are in dwindling supply. Having said that, this could still be a nail-biter. Maybe Obama doesn't win going away, and there's still an infrastructure to dismantle if he does which will take years.
But the fact that we are here seeing what this really is should give cause for hope. There was a time when corporatist voices were all we heard and not long ago. Now, we hear from a Keith, a Rachel, an Air America and others telling the truth. We "liberals" have an echo chamber of our own now. So let's stop apologizing for it. Let's quit acting like the bullied kid in the school yard and show these thugs that our ideas have merit and THEY WORK. These people are criminals seeking legitimacy. LET'S NOT GIVE IT TO THEM ANYMORE.
Mr. Greenwald, it's very discouraging to see this headline on your column: "The decay of serious journalism and Rachel Maddow's new show." I think most people seeing that headline will associate Rachel Maddow's new show with the decay of serious journalism, no matter WHAT you want to say about it in the column. This is happening over and over again these days.
Please...have some control over your headlines.
when Ms. Maddow guest hosts.
She is wry, humble, intelligent, witty, beautiful, and like Mary Poppins "perfect in every way."
No I am not on her staff.
Yes I always would switch the channel when any one else would host "Count Down."
No I am not gay.
Ms. Maddow pulls in an audience, so calm down boys and let the merit system work.
I still am madly in love with you Mr. Olbermann (sp?)
I agree. The antidote to the rightwing corporate media is not a leftwing corporate media. It is a restoration of journalistic standards of objectivity.
As a real progressive, and some may argue a "radical" leftist, I have no use for Keith Olbermann.
Bill Moyers is the model. Fair, objective, and correct.
There is no liberal or conservative bias. It is all white bias. White people speaking to white people. Blacks,Hispanics,Asians and Native Americans are barely even seen on the television stations. So all the issues that are discussed come from a white power world view. White speak!!
Rachel Meadow is just another white gay women who has benefited from the black lead civil rights movement.
There is an intellectual lost because all voices of intellect are not heard. Just as there was athletic loss in the all white sports league. Blacks participation in sports uplifted it to new levels and it would do the same for news if they were able to host talking head shows on the major networks.
Glenn Greenwald now sits on the "Throne of Political Truthiness":
please note that this is a "Self Appointment"!
