The FBI's emerging, leaking case against Ivins

The more revelations there are in the Bruce Ivins case, the more questions there are.

The letters thread is now closed.

A Democrat

Aha! Of course, now we know Ivin's has to be the terrorist. Besides, we already know he was wussy..even if he liked sorority girls 27 years ago.

A Confused Democrat...

.. he must have been to attack the leaders of his own party and their sympathetic media outlets.

Snark

Brad Friedman has obtained interesting evidence of Ivins' political leanings, including the fact that he was a registered Democrat who has voted in numerous Democratic primaries since 1996.

Ivins was evidently a psychic and upset in 2001 by his visions of the Democratic cave-in on FISA in 2007. Of course, he didn't see clearly enough to send it to Reid rather than Daschle.

NYT article today

The New York Times is following this case pretty closely. It does seem that each day the NYT leaks more information. It appears they focused on Ivins because of his personal quirks. I question why Ivins, who has a history of alcohol abuse, was still employed in anthrax facility. This is why he was in group counseling.

Why are the FBI asking the survivors and relatives of dead victims to put together questions? How will that help the case. Seems pretty bizarre.

We are not talking about the historical use of anthrax dating back to Moses. We are talking about the purified spores used in this damn attack . The purification process is the key. That is what seemed to incriminate Hatfil. He was incriminated by even implying that it could be done on a small scale.

What happened to Mr. Ivins?

I want to find out more about the circumstances around the death of Mr. Ivins. I'm told he died of an overdose. Is there any evidence that the man really took these pills(?) knowingly?

I say this because there is a mysterious story about microbiologists dying under suspicious circumstances.

See here:

I am impressed by the coincidence that this Mr. Ivans is said to have committed suicide, while so many other microbiologists have also died, supposedly, by their own hand.

I remember Dr. David kelly's death where various interested parties have put together a case that he did not commit suicide, despite the verdict of medical examiners.

I think we must see evidence not only about whether Mr. Ivans was involved in these anthrax attacks, but also whether he was snuffed to make him a better "lone nut."

?

I don't have a clue what this recent long generalized history of weaponized anthrax has to do with the Bruce Ivins' case, and the FBI's and mainstream media's handling of it. Looks like more disruption and trolling.

heh...

He was incriminated by even implying that it could be done on a small scale.

It can be.

While this development of Ivins' voter registration is interesting, it is not conclusive. The Wrong Rev. Fred Phelps is a registered Democrat. Orson Scott Card is a registered Democrat.

Google them if you don't know who they are. It can be assumed that Joe Lieberman was a registered Democrat until recently. Many registered Democrats voted for Bush in 2000 and 2004, but it's fun to watch the specious logic of a conspiracist/cult mindset at work as you all jump through hoops like you've found the Holy Grail of Grand Unified Consoiracy Theory with this minor but interesting revelation. Perhaps he really was just a nutbar. Lots of them around. Just look to the person next to you.

THE unanswered question

in relation to these attacks is this (from Justin Raimondo's often linked Antiwar.com "The Patsy" post - along with all his other work to continue to question issue over the years.

In September 2001 – before the news of the anthrax letters broke, but after they had been postmarked – a letter addressed to the “Town of Quantico police” was received that accused Assaad of being a terrorist who was planning to wage biological warfare against the U.S. on American soil. As the first anthrax letters were opened, Assaad got a call from the FBI. Agent Gregory Leylegian wanted to have a little talk with him.

The meeting, also attended by Assaad’s lawyer, proved quite a shock to Assaad. As the agent read the accusing letter aloud, one thing became readily apparent: the Camel Club was getting its revenge.

Whatever the motives of the Quantico letter’s author, one fact seems fairly obvious: whoever wrote it very likely had foreknowledge of the anthrax attacks.

What was Ivins' relationship with Dr. Assaad? What was Ivins' relationship with the Kamel Klub? -- as a registered democrat who even voted in primaries -- gasp -- it seems highly unlikely that Ivins was part of that group.

Why was the Hartford Courant the only traditional media that would look at this issue and ask questions? Why does the msm CONTINUE to ignore this issue? How can anyone explain away this event without acknowledging the Kamel Klub members are much more likely to have been involved in this - and if they have been cleared, why? What clears them?

Glenn, would you please ask someone like Holt about these people?

Shameful

Let's see:

(1) FBI under tons of pressure to resolve the case.

(2) They already showed how incompetent they could be w/ the case against their first suspect, Hatfil - which collapsed spectacularly.

(3) Now they have egg on their face and are under greater pressure to tag somebody.

(4) This Ivins guy looks like a weakling who could be railroaded.

(5) So pressure the hell out of him w/ the kind of improper tactics used against Hatfil.

(6) Find some weakling in his circle [or place one there] like that addict/ ethically challenged therapist [a junkie therapist - a halfway experienced agent can probably dig up something to blackmail her w/ unless she said whatever the FBI wants her to say about her patient] and use *her* as a tool again Ivins.

(7) Voila, guy breaks down, FBI gets to blame it on the weird nutjob, case closed.
