Additional key facts re: the anthrax investigation

The media's key witness as to the psychological state of Bruce Ivins -- Jean Carol Duley -- has a lengthy history that undermines her credibility.

Katie Couric and the Dim Future of the Mainstream Media

Check out Katie Couric's blog on CBS News and the level of discussion there about the 9/11 anthrax attacks: http://tinyurl.com/6n4zrc (CBS News is owned by Sumner Redstone, and Katie Couric is a Sumner Redstone hireling.) Check out the comments, both the volume and quality. Compare the discussion on Katie Couric's blog on this topic with the discussion on Glenn Greenwald's blog: http://tinyurl.com/6a5fj3 By comparision, Couric is a breezy nattering nitwit, who hasn't scratched the surface of the key issues concerning the 9/11 anthrax attacks.

When the talkies overwhelmed silent films, actors with annoying little voices found themselves out of a job. Mainstream media "pundits" with little brainpower are facing a similiar fate with the rise of the Internet. If you can't acquit yourself well in a discussion with the best minds on a topic, you are out of the discussion. No one is interested in what you have to say.

-- Retired Military Patriot

I just watched Suskind on the Today Show. Before Suskind, they had a brief rundown on the anthrax story. NBC trotted out the sorority "obsession", and not the updated revised version, but the original version declaring the mailbox was close to the "sorority house." They also inanely said that another possible connection to that particular mailbox was that Ivins' father was educated at Princeton. Basically they parroted the FBI sponsored smears without questioning their logic or significance, and of course without offering any opposing viewpoint or advocate for Ivins. That's the media rules of engagement when it's the goverment against the individual.

But Suskind represents the individual against the government, so Viera began by introducing Suskind and then, before allowing him to put forth his charges, handed the ball off to David Gregory to summarize the charges in the book and give the reaction of the White House. The government gets a pre-buttal. Then, of course, every charge that Suskind made was questioned aggressively by Viera, both for it's sources and for the intent of those sources (why are they speaking out now.) I have no problem with that kind of agressive questioning but between those two stories, you couldn't find a clearer example of the media double standard. Or actually you'll probably be able to find exactly that example the rest of the day.

You can catch that interview here:

The MSM as Co-Conspirators in the Frame-up of Bruce Ivins

Reilly -- when all this shakes out, the mainstream media are going to be viewed as co-conspirators with the Bush 43 administration and the neoconservatives in the destruction of American democracy. Watch and see.

And if this is the best that the FBI can throw at Ivins at this stage of the game, you know that this case is going to end in a much bigger debacle than even the Hatfill case. Even the MSM are beginning to tiptoe away from the FBI now, for fear of being associated with yet another grotesque violation of justice. See Gabriel Schoenfeld in the Los Angeles Times, for instance. Schoenfeld is suggesting that this is another "screw-up." Too many "screw-ups" translate to a cover-up.

So who ruled out Bayer?

Before the Anthrax was even received and detected, everyone seemed to know that Cipro was tested and effective against the strain to be used. So who ruled out the Bavarian clan anyway?

Another Princeton connection

"Mr. Ivins’ father, Thomas Randall Ivins, was a 1928 graduate of Princeton University, confirmed Emily Aronson, a Princeton University media relations officer."

mailbox at 10 Nassau St., Princeton, NJ

If you google this address, you'll find that 10 Nassau St is an office building that houses a number of real estate firms (like Coldwell Banker), travel agencies (AmEx), attorneys, and architects.

All of these businesses are closer than 100 yards to the mailbox as are numerous other offices in neighboring buildings.

You'd think the FBI could do better than Kappa Kappa Gamma in this case. Even an obsession with Coldwell Banker would make more sense.

And you 'd think those AP reporters could learn to use google before reporting this nonsense.

I couldn't agree with you more. No need for me to search for words, I'll simply give credit to yours.

Well done.

On the comments

I think the resources to moderate the comments are not there. One learns quickly to skip the 9/11 and civil war comments, and the personality contests between various participants. Maybe the comments thread seems chaotic to one who has not yet learned to do this.

You totally miss the point. It is a virus and you choose to ignore it and in so doing you contribute to its wider dissemination. This is how fascist movements germinate and take hold, through false myths and histories. See Dolschtosslegende. This is no different than that, or the POW-MIA myth. There is nothing more harmful than an extremist, whether that extremist is the kind that refuses to accept that any leader or government can do wrong (compare Ron Pauliacs to Bushistas, what's the diff?) or one who is convinced that all government is the root of all evil. Even real anarchists (the European kind) recognize the inherent danger in this and will have nothing to do with it. They find it threatening enough to do something about it. But you go right ahead and keep your head where it is.

Since the 9/11 terrorist attacks in America, a worldwide movement has developed. Its activists run thousands of websites, have produced hundreds of books, DVDs and articles, and attend events as diverse as the Notting Hill carnival, the 2005 Anarchist Bookfair, Green Party conferences and Universities and colleges across the UK. Their influence, particularly amongst young people and many British Muslims, appears to be growing.

This movement denies any link between Islamist ideology and violence, and doesn’t prioritise opposing the ‘war’ on terror. Instead the 9/11 ‘truth’ movement denies the existence of Al-Qaeda, argues American and/or Israeli ‘inside’ involvement in 9/11, and regards conventional leftist and anarchist commentators on such events (e.g. Chomsky) as ‘gatekeepers’, protecting the guilty parties from the wider public.

The 9/11 ‘truth’ movement massively distracts from the issues facing all those struggling for a better world. Surely we need to criticise the US/UK governments for what they have actually done (bad enough) rather than imaginary crimes? By seeing all contemporary (and past) political events through their skewed view of 9/11, the ‘truth’ movement takes progressive forces down a cul-de-sac. We must resist their influence.

Paul Stott has been involved in the anarchist movement since the early 1990s, and is one of the editors of Class War. He graduated from the University of East London in October 2007 with a Masters degree in Terrorism Studies. Visit his blog here http://www.paulstott.typepad.com/

Dr Larry O’Hara edits the parapolitical magazine Notes From The Borderland and holds a PhD in Contemporary British Fascism from Birkbeck. He and Paul Stott are currently working on a book “Half Truth Movement – How The 9/11 Cult Falsifies History”. Visit Notes From The Borderland here http://www.borderland.co.uk/
