This story broke on August 1 and yet the MSM has still not delved into the background of the one witness who accused Mr. Ivin's of being mentally unbalanced, WHY NOT? Almost everyone who has read the media accounts has commented that Ms. Duley's story seemed suspicious yet no MSM journalist bothers to dig deeper? That in and of itself is highly suspicious. The media has also provided no corroboration for this person's account. They've also not provided any information on the psychiatrist Dr. Irwin. Why not? They didn't even tell us that they tried to contact Dr. Irwin to get a statement. The more we learn about this the more bizarre the story becomes.

I have been troubled buy the lack of follow up on Duley. She plays a vital role; Ivins expressed great dismay over the results of her actions. Listening to the mp3 of her testimony, she packed a lot of information into a short period of time, such as Ivins being a revenge murderer that attempted to kill 3 people by poisoning. He must have shared a great deal of his life with her but left out the details of the anthrax letters. These official statements may have had a direct impact on his final state of mind. The irony being her ability to make such definitive statements about HIS stability.

Given the material presented about her past, is it possible she was coerced in any way?

But as someone who spends a lot of his day prosecuting i.d. thieves, I would delete her DOB from your image post and not just her address. I know it's publicly available, but there's no need to broadcast it unless it added something to the story (as opposed to merely stating her age).

Keep digging Mr. Greenwald. My nose tells me there is a leviathan lurking here.

I have been a close friend of Dr. Bruce Ivins for years. The FBI needed a scapegoat, especially after Stephen Hatfill, whose foot the FBI ran over, won a $5.2 M lawsuit against them.

The new FBI director needed a capture in this case. So, they took all of the Ft. Detrick anthrax researchers and put them under intense interrogation.

Bruce was a mild, meek and sensitive scientist. The FBI showed his clinically depressed daughter, who was institutionalized in a mental hospital, photos of the anthrax victims, and said "your father did this." They offered his son $2.5 M and a sportscar if he would "rat" on his father.

Bruce could not stand stand up to the constant harrasment by the FBI. So we have lost a very talented researcher, so that the FBI can close the case...

I agree. I'd too would like to know how Duley ended up "counseling" Ivins. Was it his choice or was this woman forced upon him and hence his anger at her for what he perceived as her willingness to help set him up. I also want more info on the mysterious Dr. Irwin who gave out confidential patient info to this social worker.

Right now Duley is the only "witness" to Ivins' "mental illness." She has made statements about a long-term homicidal condition that no one else has publicly testified to. In other words, it appears that she is affording cover for the FBI's rather lame excuse for closing the anthrax investigations. As such Duley's bona fides should be open to examination. Right now they don't look so good. If anything, she looks like someone who could be manipulated to generate information for the Feebs.

Let's get the years of psychiatric history from actual doctors who treated Ivins. Then we'll have some perspective as to the strength of the claim that Ivins was a homicidal maniac.

According to a story from last year, Brian Ross was already ordered to reveal his sources for that story. Do we know what came of the order of if he complied?

A federal judge in New York has ordered a journalist at ABC News, Brian Ross, to disclose the identities of the government sources he relied upon when reporting about the anthrax attacks of 2001.

Mr. Ross is now the sixth reporter to have been ordered to give up sources to assist with a civil lawsuit brought by a former Army scientist, Steven Hatfill, whom the government named as a "person of interest" in the investigation into the deadly anthrax mailings. Mr. Hatfill, who was never charged with the mailings, is suing the federal government for invading his privacy.

The ruling, signed last week by Judge Alvin Hellerstein of the U.S. District Court in Manhattan, comes a month after a federal judge in Washington first ordered five reporters from the Washington Post, Newsweek, and other news outlets to name their sources. Since that first order, two of the sources have come forward and identified themselves, according to a letter filed last week by a lawyer for Mr. Hatfill, Charles Kimmett. The letter does not identify the sources beyond saying they are former Justice Department employees, nor does it say to which reporters the sources spoke.

The litigation involving Mr. Ross's sources is proceeding in New York separately because of jurisdictional issues. In the order, Judge Hellerstein, wrote that Mr. Hatfill's interest in learning the sources' identities overcame the First Amendment privilege that protects reporters from testifying about sources.

It is not yet clear whether ABC will appeal the order.

"We believe firmly in honoring promises of confidentiality to our sources, and we are guided by that principle in this case," a spokesman for ABC News, Jeffrey Schneider, said yesterday, declining to comment further.

A lawyer for Mr. Hatfill declined to comment.

On the handwritten order of protection (viewed on at-Largely) her birth year is listed as 1946. On the DUI sheet her birth year is 1963.
