How many times does the primary suspect have to commit suicide before most of us learn that this is classic behavior of the criminal governments actions.
Lee Harvey Owswald killed in a police station by an assassin ? ?
the D.C. madam and her little black book, now she is a suicide
Gary webb the news man that committed suicide after he discovered drug running by the CIA,
Thats just three, there are many others during the past few years that I cannot think of right now but nevertheless suicide is an old favorite of the gangsters that rule over us.
This whole investigation about Ivins will go nowhere more than likely just like all the other cover ups.
Didn't Duley say that the violent threats she reported to the authorities were made in a group therapy situation? This would mean that there were witnesses who could corroborate.
... but I too think that it is not wise or necessary to post detailed information about the accuser's criminal record. Mentioning it is reasonable, but I don't see why all the details of her record-- and her address-- need to be included in this post.
Your work on this anthrax case-- particularly on ABC's role-- is some of the best stuff you've done, and I hope you keep hammering away at it. I was glad to see Andrew Sullivan and TNR linking to you-- this should penetrate the MSM, even, someday. I still don't think there's a need to make all the details about her criminal record available, though.
"But that depiction has been based almost exclusively on the uncorroborated claims of Jean Carol Duley, a social worker (not a psychiatrist or psychologist)"
It was not necessary, in my opinion, to have added the "not a psychiatrist or psychologist." In a court of law, the opinion of a licensed clinical social worker is usually given weight equivalent to a master's level psychologist, who is also a psychotherapist. That was what I was responding to.
I'll accept that you didn't mean it quite the way it appeared.
You said Duley's DUI fine was $1,000, but it looks to me like it was $500, and then that $500 was suspended. What do you think?
Glenn, you are the man! Great work here. This sure has all the markings of a smoking gun.
For me, the biggest question is McCain's role. He needs to answer some questions too.
Not that what happened in the past isn't important, but my concern is that he is running for president and may have been a part of a deliberate government lie used as rationale for the invasion and occupation......!
Keep it up!
That's the real issue here. As far as evidence, the only physical evidence ever recovered on the 2001 anthrax case were the letters (not all of them, some were thrown away by recipients, as in Florida).
The letter sent to Boca Raton Florida was intended to draw a link between Mohammed Atta and the anthrax attacks. On Oct 10, 2001, the anthrax terror story exploded: http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2001/oct/10/medicalscience.september11
How the bacterium got into the office remains unknown but apprehension in Palm Beach County has been heightened by the knowledge that Mohamed Atta, the suspected terrorist leader and pilot of one of the aeroplanes that hit the World Trade Centre on September 11, had lived nearby Delray Beach and flown planes in Lantana, where Mr Stevens lived.
However, notice that the first round of attacks (18 Sept) wasn't immediately effective in producing a panic response. Bioweapons have no immediate impact, unlike a bomb, say - and so the second round was clearly labeled "this is anthrax" and sent to the Senate. It was if the letter sender was gauging the response, and decided to amplify it by sending out the second letters to Daschle and Leahy (9 Oct) - which led to the closure of the Congress and the passage of the Patriot Act.

A letter opened in the office of the US Senate majority leader, Tom Daschle, "had anthrax in it", the US president, George Bush, revealed tonight, escalating the already high public anxieties over the disease.Speaking to reporters at the White House, Mr Bush said "there may be some possible link" between terror suspect Osama bin Laden and a recent flurry of anthrax-related developments.
That was the first recovered letter, and it went straight to USAMRIID for analysis. Scientists there were in a very high alert level as they were concerned the anthrax might have been spiked with smallpox, leading to an all-out investigation. This point is critical - the anthrax was immediately identified as a high-tech preparation, aerosolized, and coated with a nano-silica material that aided dispersal - and the concentration was unheard of - a trillion spores per gram. 10,000-50,000 spores is the typical lethal dose - imagine how many spores were floating around those mail sorting machines. This was a major, major crime!
This was verified and reverified by scientists at USAMRIID and at the Armed Forces Institute of Pathology. It was widely accepted - and then, four years later, the FBI suddenly changed the story:
Anthrax Not Weapons-Grade, Official SaysBy WILLIAM J. BROAD
Published: September 26, 2006
Seeking to clear up public confusion, an F.B.I. official has reiterated the bureau’s judgment that the anthrax in the letter attacks five years ago bore no special coatings to increase its deadliness and no hallmarks of a military weapon.

That story was just as shady as the Hatfill and Ivins stories - and was just as eagerly parroted by the press without questions. It is all part of a clear patter of behavior at the FBI, ever since early 2002 when the lead FBI team was sacked and replaced by Richard Lambert (2002-2006 Amerithrax FBI chief) - direct attention away from Battelle Memorial Institute, the CIA and the DIA and their quite frankly illegal violations of international biowarfare treaties signed by the United States.
In order to do that, they first needed to claim that the anthrax was a low-tech preparation which could have been made "by anyone", and secondly, they needed to find a "lone wolf nut" to pin the blame on - and when Steven Hatfill turned out to be a tough nut to crack, they began focusing on someone who was more emotionally vulnerable, and ended up pushing him to the point of suicide, and they are now trying to use that to close the case. You can't make this stuff up.
There is another aspect to this story that is also going undiscussed: currently, the U.S. government is resisting expansion of international biological warfare treaties, because the transparency requirements "are a threat to the intellectual property of private U.S. corporations that contract with the federal government."
That's all on top of the main issue on this blog: the use of the anthrax attacks to justify an invasion of Iraq.
