Additional key facts re: the anthrax investigation

The media's key witness as to the psychological state of Bruce Ivins -- Jean Carol Duley -- has a lengthy history that undermines her credibility.

The letters thread is now closed.

"Dark Side" disclosed that certain justice Dept.

officials feared for their safety (haven't read it yet, working off author interviews).

If that blackguard Cheney is involved, isn't it plausible that Mr. Ivins was dispatched?

Is it really true that there will not be an autopsy? How could that be?

Anyone recall the British weapons researcher that was a questionable suicide?

Who says that Ross is telling the truth?

Isn't it just as likely that Brian Ross fabricated the information about the high-placed government sources? That his real motivation in not "revealing" their identities is that he's protecting himself? Perhaps he heard a rumour that there was bentonite in the Anthrax linking it with Iraq and was so eager to get credit for breaking this story that he conjured up the sources.

Why should Brian Ross receive the benefit of our doubt about this?

@ Connie Boyd

People have described me as "hard-working" and "quiet", too. Perhaps I should be locked up, just in case.

(Yes, that logic is flawed. As is yours.)

Philip Zack, the Camel Club and the 9/11 Anthrax Attacks

Google [philip zack anthrax] and [camel club anthrax]

Dig into the details and analyze the hard data and evidence.

The mainstream media have blared the names of Stephen Hatfill and Bruce Ivins to the world, but have uttered not a word about Philip Zack and the Camel Club (with the exception of the Hartford Courant), even though Zack possessed motive, means and opportunity to do the deed. Zack has a proven history of trying to frame Arabs and Muslims for the attacks, and it is perfectly believeable that he would have written two notes which read: THIS IS NEXT / TAKE PENACILIN NOW / DEATH TO AMERICA / DEATH TO ISRAEL / ALLAH IS GREAT [AND] YOU CAN NOT STOP US. / WE HAVE THIS ANTHRAX. / YOU DIE NOW. / ARE YOU AFRAID? / DEATH TO AMERICA. / DEATH TO ISRAEL. / ALLAH IS GREAT.

So what the hell is going on? This case screams of a cover-up. What precisely is being covered up, I don't know, but we do know who most benefited from and exploited the 9/11 anthrax attacks -- that's a no-brainer.

What is a far more likely story is that.,,

Ivins himself was closing in on those who mailed the anthrax and had to be stopped with extreme urgency and at any cost. Finding the attackers was Ivins job, and what his lab would have been equipped for. Duley's job was to and out drugs to opium addicts in a non-methadone clinic environment. It is hard to imagine how these two come into contact given that Ivins employer seems to be unaware of the case.

Taplin Post at TalkingPointsMemo

This is a very mystifying post by Taplin: http://tpmcafe.talkingpointsmemo.com/2008/08/03/anthrax_and_the_homeland_secur/index.php

First, Taplin misleadingly links to Glenn's post regarding ABC News' misguided reporting on the bentonite allegations in support of the contention that Ivins was ABC News' sources on the story.

Second, Taplin suggests, without any identified sources or other substantiation, that Ivins was pushing the investigation of Hatfill. Glenn, do you know where Taplin may have gotten this information? Taplin claims his sources are reliable, but if their alleged reliability is based on their affiliation with the government's anthrax labs, Taplin appears to be ignoring the potential that these sources are the same as those who deceived ABC News.

Third, Taplin appears to wildly overstate the extent of Ivins' longstanding mental instability, and fails to acknowledge that Ivins' security clearance was only revoked three weeks ago.

What is Taplin's game here? His post at TPM seems extremely tendentious and slanted.

@Jim White

You have just proven my earlier point about how an array of specialized knowledge is available on UT and elsewhere. You have also shown that people who care only about the truth continue to examine their facts and reasoning and when new knowledge presents itself, will acknowledge statements that were probably misleading. It is intensely exciting to see what the blogosphere can do when it pools it knowledge and talents.

The other thing that needs to be said, is how we have had two days of meaningful dialogue without interference by trolls or rehashing old subjects that were previously discussed thoroughly. That goes for the 9/11 building engineering debate. Let’s not go into those details and distract from the exciting sleuth work going on here. When the trolls show up, keep ignoring them.

I was going to alert you to this yesterday

Backing off on my Dugway accusations

As I commented last night, I have now read information that makes me much less sure the attack material was produced in a sophisticated facility. I have put the information in a post on Achieving Our Country that can be reached by clicking my name.

But decided to stay out of it. Good for you. Keep digging. Moost of the info available to us is smoke and false leads.

I think the wiki entry is quite good. Wisdom of crowds and all that. Dugway was never considered there.

Daschle has doubts about anthrax probe

*Sources close to the case said the government may pronounce it closed as soon as Monday.*

*Daschle said Monday he hasn't been briefed on the investigation in over five years.*

@ondelette - further

Umm...I know people who are credentialed scientists, have good scientific reputations, papers published in peer reviewed journals, no criminal record at all, have security clearances, go to church and are total assholes with no morals who'd screw their own mothers for a buck.

Sorry if I'm repeating the obvious, but presumably you were not these scientists' mental health providers, and yet you knew.

In Dr. Ivins' case, nobody but Duley knew.

You make me want to be a better American Glenn Greenwald!

Whether is was the lone crazy nut or a conspiracy of nuts - in context, this was USED as both a false flag (blame the muslims and/or Iraqis) incident AND to quash dissent (Leahy, Daschle) for the Patriot Act.

Interestingly, those are the 2 things LEFT OUT of practically every media story. Which, in my opinion, speaks louder than even your commendable posts. They are trying to stick a fork in this thing faster than you can say 'lone nut'.

If I had one wish, I'd like to see you on Keith Olbermann's show a couple of times letting people really know ... you know, the FACTS. Refreshing! To make the show more ... relevant have someone else on to keep things 'fair and balanced'. How about Lindsay 'girly man' Graham and/or Liarman? By the end of the show you'd have them both taking swings at you :) Bring back some respect to the journalism field :)

America is in desperate need of some truth.
