The motivation for blocking investigations into Bush lawbreaking

Key congressional Democrats were aware and tacitly supportive of Bush's illegal interrogation and surveillance programs, a key motive in why they helped prevent accountability.

The letters thread is now closed.

Do let us know when Obama starts listening to my calls to Aunt Emma. While the model of phone I use may be available (although I doubt this), it's neither embarrassing or relevant.

Cheers,

Tom Daschle

Didn't Tom Daschle, former Majority and Minority Leader of the Senate, support the "illegal" wire tapping? Isn't he high up in Obama's campaign? Could that help explain Obama's vote on FISA?

Bush's Insurance Policy

One of the reasons Bush has been so cavalier with his outrageous behavior is that he knows he will not be impeached. Dick Cheney is his insurance policy. Bush being run out of office would, of oourse, boost Cheney into the Wobble Office. If anything happened to Cheney (some lawyer might shoot him while out hunting), then GASP! Pelosi would move up. There it is. Bush is (but barely) the lesser of three evils.

We have no heroes in Congress to hold these criminals accountable

I have been posting that the only motivation I could figure

out for the dems to allow telecom immunity was they were

engaging in "cya." It only makes sense.

I feel they are further rationalizing their "cya" by telling themselves that this will all be over in November (or January)

and a new page will be turned.

I only hope that assuming Obama takes office he does not

do a "Gerry Ford" and not pursue investigations into the

criminal wrongdoing of this administration and its enablers.

In Watergate we had petty thievery and a cover-up and attempts to overturn our constitutional rights. But these wrongdoings did have an airing in the Watergate congressional committee and Nixon did resign as a result of it.

This administration has played arrogant hardball in ways Nixon

may only have dreamed about, and, so far, has succeeded in stonewalling or pardoning its way out of any oversight, review

or examination.

This country needs to expose what these criminals have done

and make them accountable. Otherwise, we can expect more of the same and worse (hard to imagine) from any administration that succeeds them.

A Hearing on Impeachment Issues to be Allowed

Hey! Look! There will be some kind of congressional hearing on Constitutional abuses of the Bush administration! An actual congressional vote has been taken and that congressional vote has actually authorized this. This is actual good news and it could actually turn into a good thing.

I certainly hope that Glenn Greenwald's input is sought by the Committee.

@BALDWINKSI

Just so you know, Baldwinski: Chris Dodd DID put a hold on the FISA bill, back in early November, which Harry Reid IGNORED!!! For that reason, I really put the blame for the FISA disaster on Harry Reid, who, despite feigning "opposition" to retroactive immunity, enabled its passage by ignoring Dodd's hold. I think, based on Glenn's article, Reid was probably probably concerned about the Demos who are complicit in Bush's crimes, i.e., Pelosi, Daschle, Rockefeller and Steny Hoyer.

Vote early and often

Hey; we've got 188 days. Impeach the lot of them.

Do Americans want to clean up this corrupt government? They can prove it in November.

Watching weak Democrats cave in every time Bush asked for money for Iraq or immunity from prosecution begged the question, are they being blackmailed? What does the White House have on them? How do corrupt lawbreaking Republicans keep ignoring subpoenas without consequence? Our worst suspicions on a host of issues have been confirmed. It makes sense Pelosi, Harman, Rockefeller et al were in on the torture and spying. That's why they are covering their asses. Americans don't seem to care about the 4th Amendment. We're not a democracy anymore. Our government is a monopoly run by a two party system of lawbreaking thieves, liars, and murderers who do the bidding of oil and arms corporations. The system is corrupt. The country's falling apart. Anyone serious about beginning to clean up this mess must act and speak now. The election is an opportunity to begin the process of saving our country. Does anyone seriously believe that Obama or McCain will clean house? The only real change candidate is Ralph Nader. His record is solid, and he owes corporations nothing. A true outsider. Voting for him would be a huge political paradigm shift. Both parties need a shakeup. That would do it.

Vote for Cindy Sheehan

For anyone living in Nancy Pelosi's congressional district, there's one simple solution: Vote for Cindy Sheehan.

Treasonous Harman Lies

HARMAN: Well, I respect what Qwest did. Qwest said that the strict letter of FISA isn't being followed, as I understand it. That was some very careful lawyering.

Excuse me, Senator Wiretap, that was respecting the Constitution, something you've never done.

HARMAN: The other telecoms that complied with requests believed -- so they say -- that they were complying with valid requests from the Government. And remember that when this happened, it was shortly after 9/11 and so forth --

Beg to differ, unindicted co-conspirator Harman, IT WAS BEFORE 9-11, a fact no one cares to point out.

This begs the question

If Democrats are on their knees to the Great God Bush because they got some blood on their hands too, how does that explain how the blameless Savior Obama is down there crawling around with them?

Calling all those angry with the Bush administration....

Remember when the immigration bill seemed about to pass? Yet so many people called their congressmen and women that suddenly, it lost steam. We could do this for a better issue.

The House Judiciary Committee claims it will consider evidence for the impeachment of Bush in an open hearing. However, they claim they are not actually considering impeachment, they just want the evidence heard.

If enough people called the committee members, maybe we can change all that. The fate of the immigration bill proved that if these politicians hear from enough people, they can be persuaded.

In their capacity as committtee members, they represent the interests of all of us, not just their district.

Remember all the people worldwide who have lost their lives because Bush lied.

Remember the CIA agent being outed because her husband dared to speak out against an unjust war.

Remember the wire-tapping.

Then remember what was done to Bill Clinton over a private matter that didn't cost one life. Why are the Republicans allowed such such self-righteous rage over nothing, when we have real reasons to have Bush out of office?

Here are the Judiciary Committee Members, with links to contact info:

Please call.
