"Adnoto, of what use is that? ...

... Can't you stick to your argument. Why demean yourself with insults like that? Why are you so angry at yourself that you resort to such childish communication? Gordon will not fall for that nonsense, and neither will I. Good night." -- Retired Military Patriot

This post brought several things to mind.

One thing was that childish insults are the norm here from what I have been reading over the past few months. Glenn does a great job of proper debate, and several of his regulars do likewise. It is always a pleasure to read them, even when I disagree with the point they are making. Perhaps I enjoy them more when I am disagreeing since an echo chamber is no real fun at all. However, the majority of posters who engage each other seemingly do so just to see their name "in lights" or something. We have poets, comedians, pissing-contest lovers, right-wing-bots, left-wing-bots, philosophers, gardeners, bartenders, agents provocateurs, and god-knows-what-all. No problems there, if they will remain civil and stay close to the sorts of political topics that Glenn covers.

I do know that Glenn encourages a certain amount of off-topic debate since it gives him some insights that he might otherwise miss out on, and he has stated that. I am paraphrasing and may not be perfectly accurate with that sentence, after all, this is off-the-cuff. However, I do not think that a bar-tending course makes UT look great to the casual reader; but I could be wrong. Full disclosure: I do not drink and that may color my thoughts on that subject. And no, I have not done drugs since the early 70s.

Adnoto had several good points hidden way down in his rant, but misses a big point I think. The big point is that the whole system is broken and will take a major overhaul. How and when you ask? Only after the fall of the evil empire may we address in a lasting, meaningful way our manifold problems. Until then, we just fight a holding action that may well be counterproductive.

Reagan was right about the "evil empire"; he just made a maths mistake: there were two at that time, not just one.

What to do? Try to inform the "common man" of whatever problems you see; and do not despair if he seems more concerned with meeting the monthly bills and keeping his family together than joining a march on D.C. to protest "something to do with cell phones".

Retired Military Patriot etc.,

What you said...

To read powwow is to have Anonymust serve William Timberman a hot chocolate flavored beer with a marshmallow on top at midnight dooms day hour. HOPE. The barroom maiden gives a breakfast tip for chocolate eggs?

$12:00 tip for a free beer on the house.

adnoto is often a bit cranky but, contributes insights into the mentality of mass populace demonstration he's correct about the potential possibilities. The reality is: people will get so ANGRY that mass civil protest will likely be REALITY. Future unfolds. We don't all need to carry a well-made, artistic parade puppet. They are beautifully constructed. W.T. speaks through jail bars to his inmates, and ondelette begins a neat web site.. YKW need not use a 'word' that diminishes [heh] his reputation. My mind always gets provoked if what is said:

`

Invokes a flappy rubber "ding-dong" with yellow jell-o, cake mold.

`

These sores.

I'd even be happy to carry a sign while wearing short shorts.

These sores

They didn't arrive from a 21-century moldy jell-o epidemic!

These sores.

`

If I was a economic professor, I'd still admire a girls bare legs.

Especially if legs wrapped around William T.'s chubby tummy.

If Glenn reads Dostoyevcsky, gazes at the sky, wears a cross?

He still needs a good rest. no smoke jimsin weed on breaks.

Some people play with toys, think kissing under a tree is porn.

Mennonites ask me `What's Happening? `I looking fer` widow.

Now, if Derbig Mooser don't learn Salon readers Yiddish? hush.

We'd (no smoke weed) need to atone/repent (repeat) ourselves.

We'd need to go figure out from Joe? Hay! What is YOM KIPPUR?

P.S. ... OFF-topic"....

I did hear on the news: at a rowdy party the garnish was jimsin.

Or not

It's Time to Punish the Democrats
— stevedew

You're really into self-abuse, aren't you? Besides, the Democrats are their own punishment as well as their own worst enemy. And this is hardly a new phenomenon. As Will Rogers said way back when:

I am not a member of any organized party — I am a Democrat.
[aside to bernbart: Will Rogers is NOT the same as Mister Rogers.]

Basically what you are seeking is a contradiction in terms. Republicans in congress are all subscribed to the Führer Prinzip and vote as a block. Democrats believe in independence of thought and action. Democrats just do not believe in the same kind of organization as Republicans do, or else there truly would be no difference between the parties. In order to get the kind of lockstep organization from Democrats as you see in Republicans you would have to elect nothing but Democrats who think exactly the same way on every issue, a statistical improbability.

So yes, Democrats come off as disorganized and ineffective; the question is, is the cure for this worse than the disease? The key to leadership is not to get your followers to do what you want because you tell them to, but to get your followers to do what you want them to because you have been able to convince them that it is the right thing to do.
