I've a few cherished, hand written letters. One is a hand-written letter from Jimmy Carter. serious. Jimmy Carter lost a job.

I am looking at a simple plain white envelope on my desk, right at the moment. The White House is in gold print on the upper left.

How was I supposed to write former President Carter back? He mentioned he lost the 2nd term and would be job searching. on the streets? homeless?

One letter is from Wendell Berry. One is typed on a manuel type-writer. I sent the Berry's a cube-chunk of a pound honey-comb (no give a pound of flesh), and two-pints of fresh blueberries, plus, a small pillow sachet the market-helpers made. It was sent as a Thanks gesture for his wife. The sachet smelt delicious. It was small, stuffed with various fragrant flowers and aromatic herbs. I met Mr. Berry's wife. Thomas Merton did too. The "nasty" monk wrote in his diary that Wendell's wife was a lovely Lady. She's cute too.... grey headed. smack.

I also have a hand written letter from Mr. Rogers. Honest. 'um lovable folk. It's okay to write, Thanks.

There are beautiful people `out there. Precious links, dear people, and holding Life in the proper balance. The future? We've already been victors, so-to-speak. Now, it's up to us to remain faithful, live well, practice kindness, do good work, serve the truth, adore, revere, and have increasing faith. FAITH. That's the hope for.... Believe in the possibilities of things hoped for, but not yet seen as visible, but promised to be forthcoming. Let's all be busy at considering Life's overall picture. From cradle to grave. We'll know, and it will be clear as a bell, or, a glistening dew drop on a red rose in a backyard. Let's complete, not compete, and finish what we feel is 'our' role in the collective task before us as individuals. Le't just simply do what we feel (GUT) that what we (UNIQUE) are called to do. Who can do it all? No one. ah.

It's Time to Punish the Democrats

You're really into self-abuse, aren't you? Besides, the Democrats are their own punishment as well as their own worst enemy. And this is hardly a new phenomenon. As Will Rogers said way back when:

Basically what you are seeking is a contradiction in terms. Republicans in congress are all subscribed to the Führer Prinzip and vote as a block. Democrats believe in independence of thought and action. Democrats just do not believe in the same kind of organization as Republicans do, or else there truly would be no difference between the parties. In order to get the kind of lockstep organization from Democrats as you see in Republicans you would have to elect nothing but Democrats who think exactly the same way on every issue, a statistical improbability.

So yes, Democrats come off as disorganized and ineffective; the question is, is the cure for this worse than the disease? The key to leadership is not to get your followers to do what you want because you tell them to, but to get your followers to do what you want them to because you have been able to convince them that it is the right thing to do.
