Yes, Dear.
I loved this comment, from someone who actually knows what they're talking about.
Yes, the yellowcake we knew they had since the UN inspectors bagged and tagged it a decade and half or so ago. That's what Bush meant by WMDs...
Why he didn't just say "the WMDs we left there last time" I'll never know.
Glenn for all the work you do.
1) Thanks for all the links in your posts referring back to old posts and to other articles documenting your points. These links not only bolster your arguments, they make it easy for newcomers to go back and follow the learning trail.
2) Thanks for the last four weeks of learning more than you ever wanted to about targeting races, candidate recruitment and the mountains of other stuff that goes into choosing how best to remove certain pols from office.
3) Thanks for always stating that Obama apologists are in the minority even as you get especially irked at the mindset. Being as sensitive to it as you are, it would be easy for you paint a more dour picture. Yet you deliberately come back from that and make sure to note it's only a minority. Thanks for all the examples.
4) Thanks for being involved in the comment section. That kind of response sets the tone for the thread. Joan Walsh has asked how to improve the quality of the comment sections. I think the writer has a great deal to do with it.
5) Thanks for keeping an eye on what's to be done moving forward, short-term and long-term.
6) Thanks for showing your irritations and appreciation for dark humor. It adds an extra kick to the argument and to the enjoyment of reading.
It's been a joy for me to start reading these columns.
Despite the shifting of terms, strawman arguments, and contradictions in your many posts, your claims still remain inaccurate. Every call or email coming in to or out of the U.S. can now be tapped without a warrant or cause.
No they cannot. It is now and always has been illegal to have a wiretap on a US phone without a warrant. I am going to assume that even you don't think the NSA can physically listen to every conversation that flows in or out of overseas phones. That requires data-mining. A whole different kettle of fish.
Did you happen to see the news a week or so ago that the last of Saddam's 550 tons of yellowcake in Baghdad was carted off? Move along, nothing to see here.
Sure did. Did you happen to actually read the article? If so, you probably noted that the yellowcake in question had been in the possession and supervision of the IAEA since the first gulf war (or previously) and that it was in no way, shape, or form, connected to any alleged WMD possessed by Saddam prior to Bush's illegal invasion and occupation. Additionally, much to the chagrin of people like you, this particular batch of yellowcake was not connected in any way, shape, or form to that yellowcake your boy claimed Saddam was buying in Niger.
I see where you are now back to your old shit, eh, Shooter?
Playing fast and loose with the facts, I think. Twasn't yellow cake, which is material that can be weaponized, but reactor grade uranium which would have had to go through a very complex process to be weaponized. The fact that there was so much of it in a non-weaponized form, and NONE in a weaponized form, seems to indicate the opposite of what you are saying. If Saddam had posed such a threat, he certainly would have acquired some weaponized radioactive material in the many months of proclamation of the US's intention to invade Iraq. Indeed, as a final testament to how unweapony the uranium is, it was sold to a Canadian uranium broker for reselling to other nuclear countries. Here is what the NYT times had to say:
"American military personnel helped move about 600 tons of uranium in the form called yellowcake. It had been stored at Tuwaitha, an installation 12 miles south of Baghdad, which had been the site of Iraq’s nuclear program.
Cameco, a Canadian company that produces uranium and sells it around the world, bought the material, according to foreign officials knowledgeable about the transaction.
“The Iraqi government requested our help; we helped them,” said Leslie Phillips, a spokeswoman for the American Embassy in Baghdad. “It was their decision and we were happy to assist, at their request. This is a good example of Iraqis working with international companies to get done what they want to get done.”
There has been a continuing international effort to remove nuclear material from countries that are no longer using it. The International Atomic Energy Agency has helped a number of countries, including Serbia, Bulgaria and Romania, get rid of highly enriched uranium and spent nuclear fuel.
The yellowcake removed from Iraq — which was not the same yellowcake that President Bush claimed, in a now discredited section of his 2003 State of the Union address, that Mr. Hussein was trying to purchase in Africa — is used in an early stage of the nuclear fuel cycle. Only after intensive processing does it become low-enriched uranium, which can fuel reactors producing power. Highly enriched uranium can be used in nuclear bombs.
Did you happen to see the news a week or so ago that the last of Saddam's 550 tons of yellowcake in Baghdad was carted off? Move along, nothing to see here.
But the real moral to the story is that the same people who claimed heinous manipulation into war are now using the same tactics. Tsk. -- shooter242
You mean yellowcake that was known about for years, and was from the first Gulf War and had no threat value in regards to a bomb; not even a "dirty bomb"?
"While yellowcake alone is not considered potent enough for a so-called "dirty bomb" — a conventional explosive that disperses radioactive material — it could stir widespread panic if incorporated in a blast. Yellowcake also can be enriched for use in reactors and, at higher levels, nuclear weapons using sophisticated equipment." (ABC)
You mean yellowcake that was unused after Iraq stopped the drive to make a bomb, long, long ago? Even before murderers like yourself turned the American Killing Machine loose on innocent women and children? Hmmmm?
Soon you will pass from this plane of existence to your just reward; and may it be everything you deserve. You are a dissembling little piece of trash.
