Aug. 8, 1974 vs. July 9, 2008

Almost 35 years ago, a U.S. president was forced to resign due to lawbreaking and surveillance abuses. This week, the U.S. Congress will act to cover up and protect far worse lawbreaking.

Not a dime's worth of difference...

Can someone explain to me again why it's so important to have a Democratic Congress? President?

I know, I know because of the Supreme Court. But can there be any doubt now, President Obama would nominate an Anthony Kennedy-type who is more pro-woman and then get a pat on the head from David Broder.

Then days after the inaguration, when President Obama ""moves even further to the middle'' the Kosacs will re-assure the dupes that "wait until 2012'' after Obama doesn't have to worry about re-election and until 2010 after the Dems can get a super-duper majority in Congress (presumably 67 seats in the Senate will be the goal by then).

Once that happens everything will be all right. With 67 Senators and 320 House members the Dems will finally be able to enact such progressive initiatives as ending the six-year old "surge'' in Iraq and bringing the troop levels down to those 2006 pre-surge numbers of 130,000. Oh, and we'll be able to start bringing home some of the 200,000 troops fighting in Iran...soon.

Meanwhile, in some parts of the left blogosphere today, Madame Pelosi is being hailed because she is scheduled to attend some bloggers conference. How novel. The leading Dem in Congress is giving some her biggest supporters (the grassroots and netroots) an annual face-to-face.

She'll parachute in for an hour talk give a pep-talk to the libs - just before the election season gets in full swing - eat a meal, and then retreat to the cocoon of Beltwayville.

She's placating the masses with a smile and a wave. Nothing more. And nothing more is being asked for. What a nice lady!

Pelosi and her pals - the establishment- are the root of the problem, not the answer. She is a willing co-conspirator to the travesties of justice during the past eight years.

Nothing she does or says from here on out can change that.

If it weren't for the tens of thousands of true Constitutionalists, led by the Greenwalds, Hardin Smiths, Hamshers, etc. - the Fourth Amendment would have been obliterated a year or so ago. It's a credit to us and them, and a few "rebel'' Fourth Amendment sympathizers in Congress the fight has lasted this long.

So, again why is November so important?

Blaming Nader for everything lost its flavor around 2002.
