The Obama campaign's past two weeks

It matters what Obama says and what tactics he uses in his attempt to win the election.

The letters thread is now closed.

Gotta wonder how all this is "playing out" in congress ... and with the super delegates ...

and in the black community ...

Every time Obama declares he's not the "black candidate" I cringe ... As the democratic candidate and senator from Chicago (which has a large black populations), this has gotta stop.

To me it looks like he's ducking issues and using that "race card" inappropriately AGAIN.

The Heller case was about the Washington DC gun laws ... Chicago has similar laws if less extreme ... yes, this will all be decided in the courts over the next few years ... it's nice he believes what he does ... beyond that, what?

Given the problems with how the death penalty is ADMINISTERED in this country and it's racially skewed application ... It's quite possible to "support the death penalty" and call for a moritorium on executions .... gee, didn't that happen in Chicago???? It's too bad he disagrees with the supreme court on this one, and ??

School vouchers and tax funds for religious schools is also a tricky issue in areas where "private academies" receive public funds and serve to recreate segregation by "privatizing" education ... poor folk may get in on scholarships, but most folks get in because their parent can afford to pay SOMETHING ... Although certainly there are many well-integrated religious schools and muslim schools and jewish schools, etc. receiving public funds... it's a mixed bag of "public good" with a difficult history, particularly in the south.

There's not a lot of issues in America where the reality is color-blind and/or the impact of big decisions is neutral. He doesn't have to change or even nuance HIS own stance -- not at all ... but some acknowlegement of the bigger picture, the larger impact of these policies, beyond his own personal feelings, would not only be "nice" ... as a democratic presidential candidate, it would be appropriate, imho, and it won't make him the "black candidate" ... I don't want to think what running away from these issues makes him... it's gotta stop.

The Last line got clipped....

Hope for the best, prepare for the worst.

@KStone

Obama hasn't "changed" at all. That is my point. Those of us who actually READ what he believed and saw what he wanted -- i.e. a country where we had a president who was the president of EVERYONE, are NOT disappointed and surprised.

It is the ones who simply superimposed their own ideas upon him that are surprised now. Whether they are on the Left or on the Right.

You, however, are simply a pill.

Oooh, golly. (slow) the amber night moth is fluttering...`round and round the orange lilly. Don't eat too many lilly petals. Boom. stooped. no get too stuffed on lilly flowers. Boom. Honest.

Gotta wonder, respectfully, which is better, best, worst?

A bowl of Good Cow Head Soup, or some Dog Chow Stew?

No dunk a dear doe in a burr sticker patch or bears napping.

No be so proud you afraid to stoop for a copper colored penny.

The orange Day lilly season. Yummy. Petals taste like mild onions.

Jeebus Jkalos. Don't do that. Don't put that info out there please.

What to say in response? I am grateful for your sincerity and your honesty. I am not sure how to respond at this point. I don't have all the answers but here are some of my past posts that might help you understand what I think needs to be done.

@rebecalouise

You're just whistling past the graveyard but your twist on the "Perfect Is The Ememy of the Good" line is a neat spin though it really is a bit much to try and play Obama's current rightward pandering as just his attempt to be POTUS for everybody. Deal or No Deal? No Deal....

No, no, no, Jim

So, the media apparently has decided to get on the John McCain bandwagon, I guess the election is over as far as the media is concerned. What now folks?

You've got it all wrong. The media are on the OBAMA bandwagon. At least that's what I've been hearing all day here. So it MUST be true.

Don't pay any attention to the facts!

Also, the idea that they "superimposed" their whatever over or on poor helpless Obama is rather amusing. All that money and uncritical support must have been awful for him. The reality is that he happily lapped up their support like a hungry hound and then he shat in their bowl afterwards.

Tuesday, July 1, 2008 04:48 PM

OK, rebecalouise

i.e. a country where we had a president who was the president of EVERYONE,

As long as he spies on EVERYONE equally, I'm cool with it, right?

@KStone -- I don't watch that TV Show...

Goodness, could you put any more cliches in your posting?

You have NOT read Obama's books, listened to his speeches, read his policy papers or followed his career.

Even Eric Alterman, one of the most cranky Leftists around (whom I adore), acknowledges that Obama is the smart one and he would rather have a pragmatic liberal politician who knows how to WIN -- and get things done in the White House than some ineffective "purist" who loses. LOSES!

And don't tell me I don't know my candidate. The same way I knew Bush was a neocon, extreme right, fundamentalist disaster-in-waiting -- when all the Naderites and "cool kids" were saying that Gore and Bush were "just the same, I know that we will be fine with Obama,

Just get out of the way of history and let it happen.

I won't reply anymore. You are boring me with your trash TV references.

What's da bet, green buster boy?

Bet your legs look better + best.

Good day. i hate to lose a bet.

Lucky Kitt. I gonna find a nickel.

Rebecalouise

Obama has always said he wanted to be the President of the UNITED States of America...I have supported Obama because I want to see a NEW kind of politics...Now, shut the hell up and get the most talented and most transformational president into the White House since FDR.

Respectfully, are you a paid campaign worker or a volunteer?
