The baseless, and failed, "move to the center" cliche

Why do Democrats continue to follow the same strategic advice that has produced one failure after the next?

The letters thread is now closed.

@farbie

FABULOUS ARTICLE, GLENN!!!

You stole my thunder, and made the point far better than I could. I wrote Bill Burton with copies of portions of your article today. Do you have the e-mail addresses for any other Obama insiders? It would be very helpful to bombard all of them, rather than just Mr. Burton.

farbie, I too thought this was a fabulous piece. I asked Robert Wexler to pass it along to Obama yesterday when we were on a chat with him at Firedoglake. He said he would but who knows? I figured it was at least worth trying. You never know what little thing will actually help.

@Reilly

"Wesley Clark just destroys the media narrative that being a prisoner of war is somehow the “experience” necessary to be Commander in Chief, much to the dumbfounding of host Bob Schieffer."..Reilly

It's even worse than CNN hysterics...MSNBC had on a representative for McCain and Obama to discuss Clark and the Obama person said Clark was overreaching. It's amazing. They are their own worst enemies.

There will be a new world order.

Nobody can stop that now. It is a race.

Is it going to be lead by george bush, the saudi's and corporate entities (or corporate slavery)?

Or is it going to be ALL POWER TO THE PEOPLE?

No one can stop the future. Just which future wins.

remember me in 5 years.

Type in rufus1133 and jkrishnamurti on "the fix" over at washingotn post. See if everything I said years ago, is true today. Read the signs. Look at the big picture. I'm ahead of the curve. When I'm wrong then go after me and call me a liar. Other than dodd as vp, I have never been wrong yet. Clinton as a republican is yet to happen, if it does. Why be a republcain when she can do their bidding as their "opposition"?

Talk sh*t. Run mouths. Check out the fix. I see what is happening. You can to. It's not ricket science. follow the money. know your "enemy". And you will be able to see the next move. Millions others do also, I'm not the only one.

The question is, who will win. Us or them. I know you people hate me and the other "mean obama supporters". the question is, do you hate us/liberalism/progressivism more than you hate the fascsits/slavery.

choose.

take the fight to the gop, where it belongs. Not obama. contrary to the propogandists he is not a messiah. Just a man doing his best

"Dear rufus, (name changed to protect the innocent) :)

Yesterday, on Face the Nation, General Wesley Clark spoke honestly and bluntly about what it takes to be Commander in Chief. In doing so, while he said Senator John McCain’s service made him a hero to millions, including Clark himself, that experience does not trump the poor judgment that Senator McCain has shown on some of the most important issues in recent years.

What General Clark said was right, but the right-wing has been in an uproar. And even CNN accused Clark of "swift-boating" McCain. We need to fight back.

SIGN OUR PETITION THANKING GENERAL CLARK AND TELLING HIM TO NOT BACK DOWN

Let’s show General Clark that we have his back, and will not stand for any attempts to shut down this important debate.

We all honor Senator McCain's service, as General Clark said. But that does not mean that on matters of security, the military, and veterans issues that Senator McCain is beyond reproach. Nor does it mean that his service trumps the poor judgment he has shown in some of the most important issues of our time, including on the war in Iraq, the efforts to get Osama bin Laden, and veterans legislation like the 21st Century GI Bill.

THANK GENERAL CLARK RIGHT HERE, FOR SPEAKING HONESTLY AND BLUNTLY

It is important for General Clark to not back down, and to keep treating the American people like adults who can handle a real, honest, and blunt debate in these important times.

It some circles, this is called ‘straight talk,’ and it’s exactly what we need right now.

Thank you for your support,

Now Obama is attacking Moveon.org?

Yes he is...

They are 'threadbare' accourding to the Illinois genius.

They need to be stopped and reined in...

Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama on Monday, in a major speech on patriotism, criticized MoveOn.org for referring to Gen. David Petraeus as General Betray Us last year.

The Illinois senator said politics too often seems “trapped in old, threadbare arguments” that he called “caricatures of left and right.”

This, Obama added, was “most evident during our recent debates about the war in Iraq, when those who opposed administration policy were tagged by some as unpatriotic, and a general providing his best counsel on how to move forward in Iraq was accused of betrayal.”

Obama did not vote last year when the Senate approved a measure condemning the controversial Petraeus ad.

The Democrat argued that “given the enormous challenges that lie before us, we can no longer afford these sorts of divisions.”

MoveOn.org, a powerful left-of-center interest group, endorsed Obama in the Democratic presidential race.

“None of us expect that arguments about patriotism will, or should, vanish entirely; after all, when we argue about patriotism, we are arguing about who we are as a country, and more importantly, who we should be,” Obama stated in his speech from Independence, Mo. “But surely we can agree that no party or political philosophy has a monopoly on patriotism.”

Obama also said that he would “never question the patriotism of others in this campaign.” The senator made clear, however, that he would “not stand idly by when I hear others question mine.”

I guess it's his election to lose and he's determined to lose it...
