Lets go home and hope we won't be the specific chosen ones taken out and shot or gassed.-- Kitt
Is this a joke? I take it you believe we have not already slipped into authoritarianism? I fundamentally agree that a vote for democrats is a vote for authoritarianism but principled people have been trying for years to convince the establishment enabling public to change their ways. That ship has sailed. Again, look at the majority of the responses s/he receives here.
I quick-read the thread, such that my eyes are spinning like the three lemons displayed on slot machines.

On the infinitesimal chance that someone here will recognize the name H*Y*M*A*N K*A*P*L*A*N, I ought to explain that I wrote that my eyes are spinning like three lemons because I was including my third eye-- the ajna eye that sees through maya.
If your eye falls on a bargain, please pick it up.
In case you haven't seen it yet, there is a FISA piece by Barbara Boxer on the HuffPo site. There are currently only 2 comments and 14 in queue. I'd say that it needs some more comments.

With Steny and Nancy now in full DC convoluted nonsense spin mode we who do not back the DC GOPers because they so often are in dervished frenzy mode of being wrong, stupid or plain painfully ignorant are being richly rewarded for going with the "D" brand.
It all has become a bit like going to the Chevy dealer because you do not like what Ford has to offer and having the Chevy dealer give you reasons for buying the Ford and try to talk you into going over to Ford anyway.
One yearns for a political movement in this country that will descend on WashingtonDC and sweep out this moribund, self bound bunch of uninspired, disconnected hollowed out self dealers.
Could clean out the Pentagon rings as well.
Perhaps the Roman idea of having two capitals(more perhaps?) holds some validity in America today.
Split the fiscal resources, natural resources and human resources into two federal systems or perhaps three or four.
The corporatists would scream as doing business would become much more expensive then current WashingtonDC setup puts in place.
From an American citizens perspective however it would be surely useful to be able to pick which capital you would yield your taxes to and give political support to.
As a potential chorus of ridicule and critique perhaps mounts to above idea one then may well inquire--could/would this be so terrible when the current plight of American political/legal principle and policy being so adrift in WashingtonDC is considered?
... sort of like Chauncy Gardner's evil twin. Obama is smart and speaks and writes well, I guess. That means he can really be in charge and do a lot more harm. Or does anyone want to convince me he can do a lot of good? Maybe the floundering McSame would do less harm. Or maybe I need to rethink "smart". It seems incredibly stupid of Obama to say what he did and then sort of back off a little bit. Looks like the same disease that every other dem. cand. has. Is it something in the water, and the repubs have all been inoculated? No, they have it, too, but a strong authoritarian reacts in a very different way.
Today, I took a rather dramatic step. I requested a partial refund of my donations so far to the Obama campaign because of this FISA issue. I'm pretty sure that I'm not the first, based on this partial transcript of the conversation:
ME: I'd like to request a refund of some of the money I've donated to the campaign.
BO Finance Guy: Was there an error in the transaction?
ME: No.
BOFG: Are you upset about an issue?
ME: Yes.
BOFG: Is it FISA?
ME: Yes.
BOFG: Well, the vote hasn't happened yet.
ME: Well, if he votes against it, I'll reconsider, and perhaps donate even more. But for now, I'd like half of what I've donated to date returned.
BOFG: O.K.
The conversation was actually a little longer than this, as I also explained that my top issue is Health Care, but defense of the Constitution is #1a. That's why I'm only taking back half, as a protest of Senator Obama's sudden shift in position.
Interesting, I didn't know you could do that. I bet if enough of us do the same, it will get their attention.
According to a volunteer who has manned the phones at BO campaign HQ for the past year, at least 50% of the calls coming in last week were on FISA, and this was before BO's statement that he supported the "compromise." She said every person who called was deeply upset about it, and she is having a very difficult time taking the calls because she disagrees with his position as well. She told me that she tried to convey up the chain the very deep passion that people have on this issue.
'Way back when, Steny Hoyer represented my dad's second wife in their divorce and, according to my dad, took him to the cleaners. Where's that Steny Hoyer when you need him?
No doubt your ajna eye was spinning form the kundalini rising through your sushumna nadi and activating your siddhis, but do you mind if we stay on the gross material plane and beat up the Democrats some more?
Is this a joke? I take it you believe we have not already slipped into authoritarianism?-- -halo-
Don't make up what I said. No, "this", what I actually said to you rather than what you are pretending that I said to you, was not a joke. My words to you were quite clear. Is it hard for you to understand that so far the US government hasn't staged a gassing of millions of dissidents, and so perhaps we might have something to gain by not just sitting on our lazy, smug asses and saying, "It's all over"? If you want to do that just do it. Why bother telling all of us how all-knowing you are and how stupid any one is who thinks it might be worth our time to carry on rather than lay down and die?
