Where were the Congresspeople who are against this dirty deal now, when Hoyer and Pelosi and yes, in all probability, Obama were cooking it up?
"In all probability"? It's that Americans are such cretins that we get Bush instead of Gore, Bush instead of Kerry, and quite possibly McBush instead of Obama. Stupid fucking cretins -- 4 and 14 doesn't even begin to describe what miserable morons people are, as they show themselves incapable of making distinctions, or of any other sort of analysis. McCain and the corporations are chortling with glee over you stupid stupid fucks.
Now that the Battle on the Left has been won and the Clintons vanquished, the Lefties can be thrown under Bush's Bus.
What the hell are you whining, squealing children going to do? Vote for McCain?
(....sound of crickets....)
I didn't think so. Neither did Barack Obama. You're totally f**cked because you didn't use your critical faculties when you decided on this guy. You bought into a Personality Cult, and now you can't get out.
Too bad. So sad. Don't say that we Republicans didn't warn you. We did.
Oh well, at least he got rid of Hillary.
Hey Greenwald! How does it feel to be a complete and utter sucker? And a doormat, to boot? That's right! You're so pissed, you're going to cast a protest vote for McCain too, right?
Right? Oh.....
Didn't think so.....
Neither did Barack.
Glenn Greenwald: "Barack Owns Me!"
For the first time since I was 18 years old, I will be voting for someone other than the Democrat in the presidential election. It seems to me that the best hope we have for our nation right now is to get a strong Democratic congress that is populated with not just more but better Democrats (which to my mind would leave the Obama-endorsed Bush Blue Dog by the name of Barrow out of the picture) and pressure that congress to act as a strong check on executive power.
Short version: I want a divided government.
I do not trust a single party government with a weak legislative branch bowing to the wishes of the leader of a cult of personality. I'd rather have John McCain in the White House with a Democratic congress than to have Barack Obama in the White House with a Democratic congress.
The Supreme Court? Advice and consent of the senate means that McCain would need appoint moderates. Tax policy? Nothing McCain can do there without congress either. Social Security? I think John McCain with a Democratic congress is a safer bet than Obama. Obama has repeatedly co-opted the Republican "Social Security is in crisis" meme and much like it took Nixon to go to China, it may take a Dem in the White House to destroy Social Security. No thanks.
I bear allegiance to no candidate and to no party. My allegiance is to the United States and the bedrock principles of the Constitution. To protect that, I will vote for division.
Vote for America, people! Not a candidate and not a party. Vote a split ticket. Vote divided.
What really rubbed me the wrong way was how Obama in his statement says essentially trust me with these powers, I'll use them responsibly.
It's not any more reassuring to hear Obama say that than it was to hear W say it. The point of checks and balances is so that we don't have to trust one man.
Why would anyone be surprised a Chicago political deal maker like Obama would vote with the Government and Media big-wigs.
He loves powwweeerrr, and those who have it.
I'm an Obama supporter and even have a blog on the Obama website. That's where I started a petition asking Senator Obama to vote against the FISA update "compromise" in its entirety.
If you agree you can read and sign the petition, as well as see how many other foks feel the way you do, here:

I am an African-American Obama suporter from the south Side of Chicago who is disgusted at what he is doing. This is not the first time I have disagreed with his positions and I expect that will not be the last. However, the problem I have with what he is doing is not merely that he is supporting a bill that is bad for America and has so much possibility for abuse that it will do more harm than good but also that it is a bad move for him politically. One of the reasons he has the support of so many young people is not just because he is an eloquent speaker but because they believe him to be a man of principle who would not break faith with the American People on something as fundamental as the right of Americans to make a phone call without being tapped. When these people find out that he is willing to break faith with them in order to score political points he will lose that intense support and lose votes as a result. It is not just a bad vote for America but also a bad vote for Obama.
I have already sent Obama's Senate Office an e-mail expressing my opposition to this bill but thank you for giving me the idea to sent that e-mail to Bill Burton also. Keep up the good work and good luck in your endeavors.
