George Bush's latest powers, courtesy of the Democratic Congress

Congress is going to decree that the president has the power to order private citizens to break the law, as well as to spy on our telephone calls and e-mails with no warrants.

The letters thread is now closed.

When it all comes out

We will see how much complicity on all levels there has been. Without the cooperation of most, the past seven years could not have happened. All is pretty much a house of cards -- if some of the bigger players at the bottom fall, they all go down.

The entirety of Congress knew that illegal wiretapping, torture, the false pretense for war and so much more have been going on and have stood idly by...With so much power at their fingertips, they have chosen what they have chosen. In result, I believe their highest priority is to place all of the wrong-doing in a box with a tight seal, and consciously bury it so deep that no amount of human effort would be successful in an attempt to unearth it.

My strong hope is that things can get better. Much like the process to revive toxic soil: scrape off the top layers, bury them deep, and institute a process to clean up the rest. Plant some sod, pretty flowers and let the rot at the bottom fertilize the new facade. For all appearances, it will look like a much better world.

Who knows, maybe all can be happlily restored? The system was never perfect -- maybe there is a grand plan?

I am already there.

Now will some of you consider getting the Greens and/or Libertarians over the 5% threshold? -- Ouroboros

I will be writing in Kucinich for Pres. but, in all other cases, I will support and vote for Green candidates.

I haven't read your links yet (I will though) so I am not sure what specifically brought your question on but it has recently (past 8 years) been my wish that Feingold and Kucinich and any other true left-libertarian types would leave the Democratic party and either join the Greens or form their own party. The way I see it, they don't really fit in with the Democratic party or its agenda anymore.

The Democratic party is now just the other side of the Republican coin. How could they not be with "leaders" like Pelosi, Reid, Hoyer, Obama and Clinton? I do not like adding Obama to that list because I think the jury is still out on him to a certain extent but his actions, or inaction, over the past few days would seem to indicate that he fits.

John Milton? Paradise Lost. Holes in the sock heels make me cranky. Glenn darns socks. Ladies make bread. Beware of the bad-leaven. 'um blind in one eye and NO see out the other eye. Ya's got to pick up a sea shell to hare the sea roar.

Some things in Life make ya's wish to hock a grey oyster.

The Flemming's right-hand-rule may sometimes apply.

It's a individual salvation,~ So to speak.

There is a world within the world.

Somethings can't be taught.

A crowd may march to die.

Generations come and pass.

There is/are some marvelous things written @ UT and elsewhere.

It's a load of `Chew the cud, so-to-speak stuff here every ding-dang darn-day.

The blind carpenter screamed `I see! He picked up the hammer and saw bare W. Timberman?

NO saw down a green tree.

Save the birds and polar bear.

A Canadian bear swam 200 miles to land to sip a beer? Maybe. Guess what happened to the white polar bear? It's a sad truth. The ice melts and a bear swims to the seashore for a cold beer? Well. his is what happened. The cops shot the bear! That the honest truth. It's real wacky out-there. It's too early for a dark extra stout Guinness beer. Maybe later? I hope. 'um brew good over there in Dublin. DOD Gates and crew are what? Murderous war merchants.

Adnoto

You insist that "more and better democrats" is laughable because I guess you think that will never happen. Or at least not in time to get us out of this mess. But your solution is the Green Party? You think the Green Party is going to grow to powerful proportions in the next year or two and save our asses?

Adnoto--Supreme Bitcher Sans Solutions

Tell us Intercooler. How long do you figure before we see "substantive change?" There is the 2008 election and then, what? How many election cycles before we see substantive change? 10 years worth? 20? 40? Give us your best estimate and then, if you have the time, please give your thoughts on the following:

First, Oh Great Bitcher to the Heavens, I'm not in the business of predictions, nor is politics or government lever-pulling what I or most any of us do for a living. So your questions are worthless and add nothing to the conversation. I merely summarized the actions of what many viable advocacy groups are doing to try to effect change, with some having made good headway on various issues (and no, I will not summarize them for you, go do your own research). I never said it wasn't an uphill battle. If it was easy, we wouldn't be here in the first place, would we Oh-Complainer-In-Chief? Certainly revolution and a coup d'etat is more immediate and all encompassing...is that what you're advocating? Is that what you think the best answer is? Uh huh. Good luck with that. Talk about detached from reality.

Second, I would much rather be with people like GG who are actually trying to do something about current events and trying to create the revolution which you seem to advocate through avenues which have the best chance of success....vs people like you who can't do anything but bitch about it into thin air to anyone you think will listen.

How's that million man march coming, big guy? Got that all figured out yet, or are you simply going to just whine, cry, and moan and offer nothing worthwhile or positive to the conversation?

I'm betting on the latter.

Tell ya what, get that million man march thing figured out and I'll bring 100 people to the party. I guarantee it. Or, score a cargo ship full of good surplus weaponry and take up an army. I'll come to the training camp and see how serious you are about the whole thing. Meanwhile, I'll continue to help raise money for this campaign and help GG and others here join forces with other blogs and groups to raise awareness and try and get things turned around as best we can.
