Xboxershorts

I'm a hippy, and I resent the constant "dirty" references...mmmkay?

That other reference, though...I'm all into that!

It's a badge of honor.

A term of endearment. But squares can't call us that. It's a DFH thang. It may even be on boxer shorts.

I think it is even a branch of economics now. Like the Austrian School, but dirtier.

Can foreigners donate?

Hi,

I'm an Asian graduate student currently living and studying in the US, here on a US Visa. The ActBlue page that was linked to lists some eligibility requirements, including that the contributor be a United States citizen or permanent resident alien. Does this mean that I am not eligible to contribute? I don't understand why such a contribution would fall under campaign finance law, since I don't wish to contribute to anyone's campaign.

Actually, DFH

Started out as a school of foreign policy.

And if this DFH method of peaceful direct action of targeting bad Dems works in stopping the FISA Fiasco of telecom immunity, adnoto will be very mad.

Your coalition contributions just received a nice hand

Mcjoan at DKos linked your efforts tonight:

Glad they put the word out there. With 500,000 strong on their blog, this will certainly help.

I posted a letter to Obama & Clinton supporters

-- especially any of you who might be actually working on the campaign, or whose donation pockets are deeper than mine (please imagine a wallet with a moth flying out).

Glenn Greenwald has been documenting the yearning of some Congressional Democrats to pass a FISA bill giving telecoms amnesty for lawbreaking they did at the Administration's request -- amnesty that would, by an *amazing coincidence*, remove the evidence for this lawbreaking from public view. This battle is also being documented over at Daily Kos.

A lot of us feel that it's time for Senator Obama step up to the plate and *lead* on this issue. He's said that he's opposed to telcom amnesty -- encourage him make a serious speech about it. Encourage him to "encourage" other Congressional Dems to "encourage" Hoyer & the other Telecom Congresspeeps to reconsider. Make "Rule of Law" and "Respect for the Constitution" serious rallying points. Please, if any of you have any good offices to use, *use them*.

And to those of you who supported Senator Clinton's campaign: she has a great Leadership-with-a-capital-L opportunity here, as well. Encourage her to prove that she can be just as great a Majority Leader as she was a campaigner. The opportunity is here, begging to be used.

What about this clash with Obama in GA12?

Whether GG realizes it yet or not, it sounds like this is shaping up to be the first major clash between the left (plus the libertarians, apparently) and Obama-the-nominee. If he's throwing his support behind Barrow, that's going to cause some serious strife as this mini-campaign of GG's gets going. Could GG or someone of his stature call up the Obama campaign and ask them directly what the heck they think they are doing? Getting them to explicitly defend their support might mitigate it, or at least generate some (admittedly, unpleasant) press.

For a bit more indication of the looming conflict between Obama and the left on this, see:

Coattail issue

Is there are way to notify and enroll other candidates into the cause? This could be a coattail issue for Congressional races that don't get much attention and lean right. Bilray in the CA50th is a good example. Won a close race last time, but is already considered to be in the GOP column this year. I think he's vulnerable in a district growing more liberal.

I will of course reach out directly to the Dem candidate Nick Leibham, but would be good if there was a process by which liberal candidates could latch onto the anti-immunity "movement."

LWM the revolutionary.

And if this DFH method of peaceful direct action of targeting bad Dems works in stopping the FISA Fiasco of telecom immunity, adnoto will be very mad. -- L.W.M.

Well well well, so that's how you are going to attempt to frame this? 21st century direct action, right? Opening wallets and playing an establishment game of fighting money with money is now considered direct action? So when the Republicans use their vast corporate resources for swiftboat ad campaigns aimed at Barack and Michelle Obama they will just be engaging in some good ole direct action, right?

You are so revolutionary LWM. What would we ever do without you?

CarloL

Does this mean that I am not eligible to contribute?

It's very likely you can't. But that doesn't mean your desire to participate isn't appreciated. Perhaps you could consider donating in spirit by convincing some of your fellow American grad-lab inhabitants, internet loving, online searching colleagues to donate - even if it's a small amount. Ten students donating $5 apiece still amounts to a $50 donation which wouldn't have happened without your help.

Regardless. Thanks for chiming in. And, welcome.

Glenn

Will Dodd fillibuster this Bill when it goes back to the Senate?

If not, why not?

Wednesday, June 18, 2008 09:36 PM

Don't stop with Blue Dogs.

Attack vulnerable Republicans, too.

They have more to lose than Democrats.

Now, if only there was a way to use all this money to keep an ex-Congressman from exploiting his connections - the usual golden parachute of the ex-congressman. An effective blackball mechanism would be a REAL incentive for a sitting congressman to toe the line.

Fastest way to get this on TV??

For those of you living in big markets, do your local news outlets have morning shows that show "sidewalk audiences"? Here in Chicago, both abc and nbc have such studios, Im trying to organize a few friends to camp in front and flash big poster boards with something along the lines of:

"Congress conspiring to spy on you, be afraid...."

Any other ideas?
