You might want to watch that, Max. It's called projection.
After the U.S.-led war in Afghanistan toppled the Taliban government, American and Iranian diplomats met together in Bonn, with a handful of representatives from other UN members, to form a new government and constitution for Kabul. “None was more [helpful] than the Iranians,” said James Dobbins, the U.S. special envoy to Afghanistan at the time, writing in the Washington Post.

I hesitate to use the term "unimpeachable" to describe anyone in Bush's administration, but in the sense you meant, I think it's appropriate here...
No, it's my hater-phobia and my hypocrite-phobia, I suppose. Jeremiah Wright and James Cone are first-class racists and hate-mongers,...
I think that "KnoB" here is askeered of big black folk. But then again, he's prolly afeerd of IslamoFascist Terra-ists too.... Gawd, wouldn't want to see that Depends™ bill.
Just as a FYI to "KnoB": The foamers on the RW talk shows are professionals. They told you that in the fine print on the bottom of the screen, along with "Don't try this at home".
Cheers,
I'd sooner read the Farsi News but Australia will do...
Karzai at odds with US over IranFrom correspondents in Washington
August 06, 2007 05:20am
Article from: Agence France-Presse
AFGHAN President Hamid Karzai, a key US ally, contradicted US assessments of the threat posed by Iran and insisted in an interview aired overnight that Tehran played a beneficial role in his region.
"So far, Iran has been a helper and a solution," Mr Karzai told CNN on the eve of a visit here to meet with President George W. Bush for talks on the deteriorating security situation in Afghanistan.
"Iran has been a supporter of Afghanistan, in the peace process that we have and the fight against terror, and the fight against narcotics in Afghanistan," said Mr Karzai, who became president with US backing in 2002.
His remarks differed markedly from the US stance, which sees Iran as a major menace that bankrolls terrorists, supplies arms to insurgents in Afghanistan and Iraq, and seeks to develop nuclear weapons.
[...]
But asked about US suggestions that Iranian weaponry was being funneled into Afghanistan, where Taliban fundamentalists are mounting a reinvigorated insurgency six years after their ouster, Mr Karzai was non-committal.
"We have had reports of the kind you just mentioned. We are looking into these reports," he said yesterday.
He went on to say that Afghanistan and Iran had "very, very good, very, very close relations, thanks in part also to an understanding of the United States in this regard".
"We will continue to have good relations with Iran. We will continue to resolve issues, if there are any, to arise," Mr Karzai said...

Cheers,
Neither of you is correct.
After K-1's commissioning on 10 November 1951, Carter served as Executive Officer, Engineering Officer, and Electronics Repair Officer. During this tour he also qualified for command of a submarine. [...] Carter was preparing to become the engineering officer for the nuclear power plant to be placed in USS Seawolf (SSN 575), one of the first submarines to operate on atomic power.

Just a flesh wound! -- Maximus Decimus Meridius
You are now a moral and mental quadriplegic. Grow some new limbs will you?
"Carter's third term"? You mean policies geared to long-term, sustained benefit, based on reason and reality and not messianic/nihilistic pseudo-nationalism?
To quote the sock puppet currently sitting in the Oval Office: Bring it on!
Oh, and Operation Eagle Claw failed because it was a convoluted mess from the get go (the main mission planner himself advised the mission be aborted early on April 25th), with a healthy dose of Murphy's Law (in the form of multiple instrument failures) thrown in and the simple fact US special forces at the time were amateurs in the sort of inter-service operability the plan required.
Anyway, what are you complaining about? All 53 hostages were released alive and unharmed thanks to diplomatic efforts and, more importantly, no other loss of life. What the issue? Only feel good about yourself if there's a big body count or what?
Geez.
I have it on good authority (anonymous - but Very Important - source, of course), that the Lieberman Certified McCain Ball-washer can be used on goyballs as well but special preparation is required.
Ouch! Just the thought makes me shudder (or takes my bris away, so to speak). I remember the take-off on the Rolls commercial (was it Rolls? or Lincoln? don't remember) with the rabbi in the back seat.....
Cheers,
@ Amity(I bet most liberals don't already know that that's Obama's middle name — they've all been suckered!)
WOW! Really??!? Don't tell me... you're going to surprise us all by noting he's also half-black, aren't you? -- blueraven
Amity -- satire is dead my friend. Unless you are a known satirist such as Colbert it just doesn't work. When you have to explain it constantly, to decent and intelligent people, well... You keep at it if you like but, at this point, there is literally nothing you can say that is over the top enough for it to be deciphered correctly by even the most intelligent member of the reality based community. It just ends up coming off as mainstream wingnuttery.
Sad innit?

Envy perhaps? Or maybe just the desperate need to sound smarter.
Karzai Underlines Strong Bonds between Iran, Afghanistan2007-10-20
TEHRAN (Fars News Agency)- Afghanistan's President Hamid Karzai in a meeting with Iranian Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki in Herat on Saturday stressed the strong bonds between the two nations.
[...]
He voiced pleasure in the two countries' profound and cordial relations, and emphasized that all Afghan officials seek further expansion of the friendly and sincere relations existing between Tehran and Kabul.
The Afghan president called for the removal of impediments to the further expansion of bilateral ties between the two neighboring states.
[...]
"Continuation of Iran's good intentions (in relations with Afghanistan) is vitally important to Afghanistan," Karzai reiterated.
He also pointed to the West's unreal claims about Iran's interference in Afghanistan's affairs, and said, "We have resisted the negative propaganda launched by foreign states against the Islamic Republic and we stress that aliens' propaganda should not leave a negative impact on the consolidated ties between the two great nations of Iran and Afghanistan."
"The two Iranian and Afghan nations are close to each other due to their bonds and commonalities, they belong to the same house and they will live alongside each other for good," the Afghan president underscored.
[...]
He further blasted the approach pursued by the foreign troops towards Afghanistan's developments, saying that the approach runs counter to the democratic achievements of the Afghan people.
The top diplomat expressed the hope that as a result of Karzai's insight, national resolve and the principles and achievements gained by the Afghan people during the era of resistance against the Taliban would be manifested in all the different scenes and arenas.
