Bush and Cheney need to be impeached. The rule-of-law needs to be re-established so that future leaders understand that they too must adhere to those basic standards.Without impeachment, the Congress, the Constitution, and the will of the people are dead.
Support Kucinich and his 35 articles of impeachment! There is nothing more important than to prosecute those who have committed so many crimes.-- The Canadian
Thank you. I find it very disheartening that, unless I missed something, the only two people to mention Kucinich and the articles of impeachment are an "unserious rabble-rouser" (me) and a Canadian. It leaves one to wonder... I personally believe most people that comment here at UT would fall into the "I believe we should let George Bush get away with breaking the law because..." crowd.

Now, if Charlie Savage writes a column about the looming threat from/WMD belonging to Iran, there's something strange in the basement at the Times building. See Dowd, Maureen...
But seriously (almost), is Joe Klein ghostwriting for Lichtblau now?
Pelosi at least ought to allow some time for a debate/vote.
Ordinarily he was insane, but he had lucid moments when he was merely stupid.Heinrich Heine

Thanks, for the tip, adnoto. I tend to be a creature of habit. You're right. A simple b is a heck of a lot more efficient. Now, to retrain my brain and my fingers.
Done bookmarked that page, PDA. Thanks for that. My browser balks at the fancier approaches. So this one is right up my alley.
You're welcome, bignose. It's a trial and error kind of thing. And, even those who have a lot of experience with it still goof up once in awhile. Forgetting to close the tag is the most common error. And, the best tool you have is PREVIEW. I uncover 90% of my tag errors with a liberal aplication of the PREVIEW button. So... preview, preview, preview!
Why is just dandy, have at it, yee haw, full steam ahead to surveil foreign to foreign communications?
Basically, because it's a given that "everybody does it". Nuthin' we can do about it.
I believe we should let George Bush get away with breaking the law because the attempt to hold him accountable diverts people's much-needed attention to getting a Democrat in the White House.
I believe we should let George Bush get away with breaking the law because the attempt to hold him accountable should have been made long ago, and since it wasn't, it's now most likely useless.
I believe we should let George Bush get away with breaking the law because the attempt to hold him accountable will play into the media's desire to not focus on things that matter, which impeaching Bush doesn't qualify as.
I believe we should let George Bush get away with breaking the law because the attempt to hold him accountable isn't realistic.
I believe we should let George Bush get away with breaking the law because the attempt to hold him accountable is being led by someone that people like to make fun of.
I believe we should let George Bush get away with breaking the law because the attempt to hold him accountable is only supported by leftwing extremists.

That would mean a lot of long boring hearings, and indignant posturing by Republicans...
Can't we just give them to the Hauge? Seriously...What would be the procedure for doing that? We wouldn't have any dancing around the meaning of "High Crimes and Misdomeaners". It could be straight up mass murder.
It makes us blind, and it causes warts on the hands
That's not true. Neville Chamberlain had exceptionally sharp vision, and shapely, smooth hands and kept his nails buffed to a high sheen.
If I owned a telecom, I would find it a violation of my rights that I would be required to provide NSA with a copy of all foreign to foreign communications on a routine basis. It is, after all, information that has been entrusted to me for safe passage. But I would worry more about how to give them the foreign to foreign without including a lot of other stuff as well. In fact, I would think that the information analysis necessary to do that on an email system would exceed what I ought to be doing in transferring such information.
There are no facts in this NYT article. It continues to amaze me how once-respected news organizations can publish pieces that are not journalism. Most of us on this board are up-to-date on FISA and congressional goings-on, but what about those who are just now learning more about the issue? Where can people can go for "fair and balanced," or at least something closer to it? It is disheartening. I continue to hope that more Americans attempt to connect the dots on the most important issues facing us today (and no, it's not flag pins and pastors). Glenn, thanks for all you do.
I'm starting to hear a variation of that theme. It goes like this:"The war (on Iraq) is the only thing propping up the economy" And therefore can't be stopped. Another wonders if all those extra policeman and the Homeland Security and TSA agents are just supposed to go home when it's discovered that their agencies are redundant, corrupt and a constitutional danger.
So the great chorus will be that we cannot possibly change handbaskets, and must stick with it.
I think we'll be hearing how the war is necessary to the economy quite a bit, in one way or another.
Nice to be recognized as a fellow rabble rouser.
Clinton was essentially impeached for perjury. Regarding Bush, he has committed perjury on a number of occassions, and has probably committed treason.
If one man commits murder he gets life in jail. If a second commits murder, should he just get to escape punishment, or should he also be held accountable?
It is getting harder and harder to explain to my kids why we let an admitted War Criminal continue to be in charge. What impetus is there for them to obey the law if Bush and his cronies don't have to?
Much better perhaps just to get to know those in power, and then you too can get away with murder.
There you have it. We live in a nation of laws, or we live in a Kafkaesque nightmare, where there are no laws, only a King.
But there's nothing important to think about here folks; how much was Obama's hair cut anyway?
