Republicans and Democrats, and action ...
It is nice to see my fine Democratic Party friends engaged in trying to purge the party of those who favor war and spying on the public. It would be nice to see some-damn-body get punished for some of the horrors that this administration has produced.
No one will go after Bush, Chaney, Rove, or any of the other destroyers of the constitution so beating a Democrat may be all that is left. Oddly, I had hoped for more when I voted in 2006.
Even more oddly, I agree with those that believe that a message must be sent and this congressman needs to go down so as to send a message to the others; both Democratic and Republican.
It has to start someplace, even if this one guy is not the worst of the bunch.

See Spot run with the ads...
So now you are walking back your comments? I'm a "nitwit" because I believe that political action that is successful is a failure? -- Kitt
I give up. Perhaps someone else will be able to explain it to you in the Dick and Jane style verse that you require.

@bystander - I'm jealous
No email from aclu for me, and not a word from GG to the rest of us "minions".

@GG
I put this up @ the aclu blog, but I'm not sure it posted...
Did you see this?

Perhaps not torture per se, but damn close if not...

slurs against an entire district ...
I have seen it written here that the people of the district Carney represents is full of [insert your insult here] and that they should be ashamed to live. One commenter even said they were Nixon supporters, no doubt.
Is this how the party intends to re-take power? Seems a little counterproductive to me. One could say the same of the entire country called the USA, since we all agree that two term President Bush is a lot worst than Carney and he was elected.
How about a little sanity? Carney needs to go down, but let us not insult every man jack (and the women) in the 10th district. Well, unless hurling insults is all you know, of course.

.... somewhere....
Somewhere in the OT there is a proverb about contradictions. "The life of a fool is worse than death'.... And---`In much wisdom there is much grief. A person who increases knowledge increases sorrow'... Getting away somewhere can be transcendent. Be careful. Use honesty.
Arthur Schopenhauer, in a great book, 'The Wisdom of Life - Counsels and Maxims' is a well worth read. If people are so cock-sure they are right, they are apt to not know. It's a vain show of sheer folly. False. Perverse. Erroneous. Error. Pride. Absurd. Oy! Wear a label? O`Fool.
A person who exhibits the arrogant traits is descending daily and unworthy of serious attention. The A.S. book is packed with weighty thought. There are 'ideas' about where a "progressive" civil citizen should, maybe, and be developmentally.... at a particular chronological age. A critter who has a unfavorable character may keep boasting day and night, and they seek a fake flattery peer gang pat.
a writer. en dash,
or em~'um do thunk.
O my O deer. I just saw.

If you think that's bad, go check out the threads at the following. As another Southerner, I bet they'll make your head explode:

The first is in response to the cover story, the second in response to Joan Walsh talking about the cover story.
There are some nice responses, though, which are also worth the read.

I'm just asking hypothetically what those here think about this possibility.
If it really would aid the party in the election, and he did his part (really did his part), then the ads worked without running them in a way. I would hate to see no-damn-body at all punished over the telco amnesty travesty, but the election is more important this cycle than it has been in a while.
But, after the election you are still going to have these Carney types. What then?
-
.... what then? Who knows? Go and buy bunny slippers at a "Payless" shoe store.
Give money to a dog kennel. Take home a dachshund pup, and name a doggie Blue Dog.
Get the mutt pregnant. Send blue dogs to rural country sides to chase a pregnant butterfly.
Take the pooch to DC's K-street, and beg for a bullet proof vest, or just embezzle moth balls.
-
FYI
I deleted the discussion of the hypothetical I just posed. I really wanted to hear input on what people thought about it and now that I have -- and I agree with most of what was said -- I've deleted it. I'll post more updates on it as things proceed.

Thanks; I think.
I am a "hillbilly" as is the wife. She hates the term in the same way a black in this country hates the n-word. It is a nasty slur.
I worked very closely with a lot of folks at the National Labs in Oak Ridge once upon a time. Highly educated men and women from all over this great land. There were a lot of bigots, "One who is strongly partial to one's own group, religion, race, or politics and is intolerant of those who differ."
I think most Americans would rather put down some other group than fix their own problems. The Democratic Party will need to decide if there are certain groups that are just to low, ignorant, poor, rural, or whatever to be in the party. The decision needs to be made soon as I wager a major sea-change in American Politics is upon us.
(Note: I did diverge a bit, but I do thank you for the links --- I only read Glenn here at Solon normally)

He's neither the chair nor the whip
But all indications seem to be that he's somehow flogging the telco amnesty [metaphor lacking]. If he can be induced to reverse that behavior, then I say Missio.. uh, never mind.
If Carney can be induced to reverse that behavior, then the ads have resulted in precisely the desired outcome.
