Re-election
I haven't seen any mention of Carney running for re-election this year. If he isn't then there is no use in these ads. As a typical politician he is only going to be concerned during an election.

Members of the House have to run for re-election in every election year, because they have two-year terms. Carney is running for re-election this year and, because he's a freshman in a swing district, is expected to have a tough fight.

Harold Ford on MSNBC
I'm glad to see the Carney ads. I think we also need to pay attention to the DLC Democrats. I keep seeing Harold Ford on MSNBC (he's become a fixture) pushing the DLC agenda. He was on MSNBC this morning saying that Obama needs to understand that the reason we picked up the three special election seats was because those candidates were more middle of the road candidates and that Obama needs to come to the "middle". Of course all the pundits on the show were agreeing with him and reminding viewers that this country is a right of center country (NOT).

Blue Dogs
Rep. Tim Holden (D-PA17) my Congress critter, is a Blue Dog too. I have tried to get answers from him and/or his staff about why he supports telecom immunity and I have gotten nowhere. All I get is the run around.
I am happy to see that Rep. Carney is being targeted about this. I'd like to see Holden get targeted too.

Hammer, meet nailhead
As is clear, then, Chris Carney isn't demanding the enactment of warrantless eavesdropping and telecom amnesty because doing so is politically necessary. Instead, he's doing it because he believes in those things and/or because Carney is afraid of the political price he thinks he will pay if the President does not get what he demands (and, relatedly, because he believes that there is no price to pay for supporting such radical measures).
GG, will you keep us updated please, as to Carney's reaction when he sees the actual campaign? I'm most interested in whether there're any promised behavioral changes for the good, or whether he responds w/ a knee-jerk "FU".

I have to say, I'm not familair with the ActBlue website, but just giving it a cursory look right now, it doesn't seem to be working too diligently against Chris Carney. While the site DOES provide links for opposition to him and against retroactive immunity, it also has 'Carney for Congress' links to contribute to his campaign and 'Spread the Word' about him.
I could see where someone not paying too close attention could end up helping him through that site.

It will be very interesting to see how Carney and his district react to these. Is there any polling data on Carney's current standing that can be used as a "before" snapshot to be used in evaluating the efficacy of the ads?

I've already embedded it in our blog against my Bush rubber-stamping Republican congressman who has taken $27,000 so far in this election cycle from telephone utilities and delivered the keynote address at the Telecommunications Industry Association's policy summit this spring.

A note on ActBlue
I have to say, I'm not familair with the ActBlue website, but just giving it a cursory look right now, it doesn't seem to be working too diligently against Chris Carney. While the site DOES provide links for opposition to him and against retroactive immunity, it also has 'Carney for Congress' links to contribute to his campaign and 'Spread the Word' about him.
As I indicated in the post, the general purpose of Act Blue is to help elect worthy Democrats. They actually raised money for Carney in the 2006 cycle, and that's one of the reasons they were so disappointed with his performance since being elected.
As I also indicated, a new organization is being created in order to do more things like the Carney ad campaign. For this campaign, Act Blue was used just to enable the raising of funds because it was already up and running. The account for the Carney campaign is completely segregated from all other parts of Act Blue and is being used exclusively for this FISA/amnesty campaign and nothing else.

Carney = Lieberman
in the new administration, blue dogs will be the primary enablers of right-wing policies. it's not so much that they're ideologically kindred spirits. it's that they're kept by the same corporate sponsors as their republican stablemates.
beyond that, any democrat who would be seen in the same sentence as douglas feith deserves expulsion for his or her embrace of a war criminal. really, carney's district deserves better representation than someone that stupid.

...is there a primary candidate against Carney?
Or is the plan just to toss him overboard and replace him with a Republican who will vote the same way on telco immunity, and who won't support the Democrats on procedural matters?
Don't get me wrong; Carney should get his ass kicked for this, but the time to do it is when you can replace him with someone better.
