Not so odd or ironic --
"Irony
"Of course I also find it odd that Jewish World Review is giving Parker the time of day. While about as conservative as Jewish websites ever get (I mean, they host Mallard Fillmore) you'd think they'd have a few lines they'd rather not cross.
"-- Brian Griffith Saturday, May 17, 2008 06:42 AM"
Not so odd or ironic when one considers the discrimination among Jews about which Jews are more Jewish than others.
The same hierarchical discriminations exist among every racial -- and ethnic -- group, usually based upon who is "whitest" or "lightest".
The near-perfect demographic illustrating that reality can be seen in boxing: soon after the turn of last century, Irish were more acceptable, so the "Irish need not apply" job-opening signs began to be replaced with "Italians need not apply," and then those were replaced by "Jews need not apply".
There was all along, of course, "[African-Americans] need not apply," though they can trace their bloodlines, however involuntarily, on this continent to 1600s lily-white Jamestown.
And they can trace their defense of this country to at latest the "revolution" itself. Despite that contribution, they still had to suffer segregation even in the military through to and into the Korea war.
Meanwhile, by contrast, many, and probably most, of today's "white" defenders of the pure-breed creed (some few of whom own "purebred" horses . . .) are not entirely "white," whether because they have Irish or Italian or African-American or even [GASP!] Scottish intermarriages and interminglings in their histories.
And the ancestors of most of them came to the US after the Civil War.
If not, then why else would the right-wing supremacist slugs live in the political cesspool instead of not holding the same high intellectual, social, and economic standings as their fellow "betters"?
Welcome to 1930s-40s Germany, and 1950s McCarthymurrica. What bothers me is that so many 20-something political no-nothings latch onto Ron Paul, who expressly said he agrees with just about everything the John Birch Society stands for, but either don't learn what the JBS is about, or actually swallow its fascist supremacism without bothering to first determine its "pedigree".

George Washington was too multi-culti for real Americans
Good find, L. W. M.

Dare I reveal a non-too-secret secret? --
"Jesus, that was rich
"Kathleen Parker's article appeared in the Jewish World Review!!! Was she -- and they -- blind to the supreme irony of any argument that conflates "blood equity" and "citizenship" and "patriotism" appearing in a Jewish publication??? Who has more to lose if this kind of thinking goes mainstream than the Jews?
"Oy fucking vey.
"-- Egypt Steve Saturday, May 17, 2008 06:53 AM"
There are supremacists in every ethnoracist group, including the Jewish. Can you say Ashkinazi?
Christ, they even stole the name "Jesus" from the Mexican SpanIndian!

feeling ill
This is what the Post is going to permit––or rather, encourage––as the terms of respectable debate for McCain-Obama? I don't think I can take it.

More of that "fair and balanced" crap
The NYT and WaPo think that if they don't have a right-wing nutjob to counter all the liberal stuff they publish it is not providing a forum for the other view. OK, but don't they have editors anymore to read before publishing obvious hate?
Too busy with the bottom line to be responsible for their content? Shameful.

Matt Hale was not "punished by the gov't for his views" --
Electro Robot
So why did you defend Matt Hale?
I mean speech is speech, isn't it?
"Is it really possible that you're incapable of grasping the distinction between (a) the Government punishing a White Supremacist for the expression of his views and (b) the Washington Post inviting him to express his White Supremacy on its Op-Ed pages?
"Seriously, how can any sentient person not immediately understand that difference?
"-- GlennGreenwald Saturday, May 17, 2008 06:57 AM"
Matt Hale was not "punished by the gov't for his views". Rather, this is what happened:
Matt Hale, disguising his white supremacism/Nazism as religion, decided to becaome a lawyer, apprently to fight denial of tax exempt status to his sleaze.
He then was refused admission to the bar for his moral turpitude -- espousing repugnant views which are immoral, anti-factual, and anti-American.
He then took the matter to court, where he was held against.
He then plotted to have the "Jewish" judge murdered by -- being of superior intellect -- attempting to hire an undercover cop to do the deed.
The latter is why the gov't indicted, tried, convicted, and imprisoned him.

The Israeli endorsement of Hillary as NY Senator in 2000
Does anyone remember this? here's the wikipedia page:
http://tinyurl.com/5mxlm2
But the endorsement I recall is oddly elusive web-wise. The context is fairly easy to re-assemble:
(1) there was her deal to pardon the New Court hassids.
(2) there was getting over the Suha Arafat kiss
(3) there was a bizarre, sticky, emotional Jewish campaign of sympathy for her as a humiliated but faithful wife (honestly)
any details on the last (which I recall from the radio) would be esspecially welcome.

Of All Newspapers........
Two words: Eugene Robinson. I would love to know what he thinks of this column. And while I am at it, what does Mr. Robinson think of Karl Rove being engaged by Newsweek?

I still have no idea what is meant by "strong women" --
as oppsed to "weak," except as a comparison with men in effort to insist that women are as "strong" as men.
There are different forms of strength, only one of which is male brawn. It can take considerably more strength to not use that -- or any other -- strength negatively.
"Intolerance sells....
"And intolerance by women sells even more."
Certainly -- as does violence by women: as an indicator of "competence" and "strength".
"If Ann Coulter were a man, she'd have ended up like John Hagee long ago -- an embarrassment, someone to be thrown over the side before reaching the national stage, only influential in her own little circle of cranks. But Kathleen Parker has the perfect defense if and when Obama decides to complain...can't take it? From little old me, a WOMAN? Why don't you go cry under the covers, pretty boy?"
Exactly.
"She, and others like her, are a disgrace to strong women like myself"
A woman who can resist being intolerant is therefore a "strong" woman? Obviously, then, the same cannot be said of men, who are "strong" to begin with . . .
"Hillary, whom Parker uses as a red herring while comparing her cojones to the weak "prettiness" of Obama/Edwards, would no doubt be horrified to read the column that suggests that one's blood determines whether one can really "understand America"."
NO: Parker is taking a cheap shot at Hillary by suggesting (yet again) that whereas Obama and Edwards are "gay," Hillary is a Lesbian. "Obviously," Hillary, who is "brawny," is unlike delicate, feminine, lady-like stormtrooper Parker.
