"Jebbie... I thought of you today;"

Pedinska put you up to that, didn't she.

She's got her panties all twisted up over the fact that it's now pubic knowledge that she does the floss thing.

  • RMP

Great Countdown link - thanks. The question now is whether Shooter will be giving up golf out of regret for the pain he has inflicted here by spending so much time with us but never learning anything.

  • Mr Snoid

LOL Maybe your should consider changing your screen name to Mr Snark.

  • You'd be surprised

Jebbie, actually, Pedinska and I have never knowingly collaborated on a post, although to a casual observer it might appear that way., because after all great minds do think alike. I just thought of you because, after all this talk of ponies, I found a group with the treasured acronym, and the cause was so funny and unwittingly apropos. Who knew that NY hookers also were wishing for a PONY, perhaps even more fervently than you?

I guess you shoulda been there.

  • @Hugh - media sloth

Getting in late today, but you pretty much nailed it.

    Joe Klein and journalism

or what the rest of us call low hanging fruit. Today's media figures are not paid to be insightful, accurate or professional. They are paid to be distractions, to willingly babble the company line whatever that line is, whatever the company is. Klein is an idiot whose sense of self awareness and personal integrity is somewhere at the invertebrate level. In other words, he has everything it takes nowadays to be a media star.

You capture the defining problem with "liberal" media stars like Klein, Cookie Roberts (click on my name below for the latest!), Thomas "Iran is the new cold war enemy" Friedman, and many others, including Maureen Dowd (even though she at least has a sense of humor).

All these "liberal" media stars have to do is criticize the Administration every once in a while to maintain this farce. They will be predictably provoke "outrage" amongst the drudge crowd, who still “rules their world”, to get their "liberal" credentials certified.

But even their pursuit of "liberal street cred" represents going after the same low hanging fruit that Hugh brings up. It is not hard to take certain strategic (for them) positions to maintain their "amongst the people" regular-folk narrative (Dubai Ports controversy, Katrina, and the treatment of our Veterans are examples off the top of my head). And of course they will always make sure to point these out to defend their "lack of bias".

This is a huge problem and I can't say what to do about it. I think blogs like Glenn's are having some impact, especially because he doesn't really accuse them of being evil, he exposes their sloth (still listed as one of the seven deadly sins!). Along those same lines, we seem to be mobilizing a force that is at least kicking some right-wing ass here in the internets (money raised, networking).

But the temptation remains for creatures like Klein. Look at all the low-hanging fruit available in their world! Reverend Wright, flag pins, bowling, haircuts, breasts, earth tones, wife kissing, windsurfing, tank rides, ....

And don't forget Michael Jackson or the Pope!

Our media has literally de-evolved. They use a "hunting and gathering" approach to an institution that was specifically named in this country's very FIRST amendment. I fear it will take a long time, given the present American culture, for any re-evolving any time soon.

  • Did Scalia Give Advice to Bush Administration on Torture

I was reading through some of the ACLU documents and wondered about this phrase used in State Dept. Cable 3.

"The Detention of an enemy combatant is not an act of punishment but one of security and military necessity."

Remember when Leslie Stahl interviewed Scalia and he told her that torture wasn't punishment.

Stahl: If someone's in custody, as in Abu Ghraib, and they are brutalized by a law enforcement person, if you listen to the expression 'cruel and unusual punishment,' doesn't that apply?" Stahl asks.

    "No, No," Scalia replies.

"Cruel and unusual punishment?" Stahl asks.

"To the contrary," Scalia says. "Has anybody ever referred to torture as punishment? I don't think so."

I just thought it was curious that both the Bush administration and Scalia made this type of argument. I wonder if Scalia gave the Bush administration any "advice" on the issue of torture?

  • @ LWM

You just sound like an idiot bordering on anti-semitism.

Well, aren't you predictable. When you can't argue the merits, bring out the muzzle. Classic.

  • What merits, you moron?

Well, aren't you predictable. When you can't argue the merits, bring out the muzzle. Classic.

    -- Bubbee

You said name one. I named many. Then you went on an ignorant and petulant rant sounding like an idiot bordering on anti-semitism. Why not hook up with the clown peddling the LaRouchian conspiracy theories. You two are made for each other.

  • Oops!

    N/T !!!

  • @Blubberee -The Hysterical record since 1896 will back him up!!!

Zionism, by its definition, demands war, demands racism. How else to explain the expulsions, the demolitions, the lands grabbed via the death of innocents?

I am most definitely not confused, and the historical record, starting with 1896, will back me up. This is not ignorance speaking. Those who agree with Iseroff should perhaps adopt a new moniker in order to avoid the aspersions.

You can't pretend it's benign. It's like putting lipstick on a pig.

The Protocols of the Elders of Zion!!!!

“When people criticize Zionists, they mean Jews. You are talking anti-Semitism.” [ from “The Socialism of Fools: The Left, the Jews and Israel” by Seymour Martin Lipset; in Encounter magazine, December 1969, p. 24. ].

The above is factual. There is a letter that is a hoax, like the Protocols of the Elders of Zion!!!!

    http://www.camera.org/index.asp?x_context=8&x_article=369

    W. E. B. Du Bois was an ardent supporter of Zionism, and the NAACP endorsed the creation of Israel in 1948. Paul Robeson, Bayard Rustin, and Martin Luther King, Jr. also supported zionism... as well as some Muslims and even Christian Arabs.

If you are going to be an idiot, can't you do it some place else?

    Beware of ZOG!!!!

  • Joe Klein: Liar

Joe Klein is a liar who works for the lying TIME magazine.

Don't buy that rag, and don't read it.
