Time for Glenn to file FOI request
Glenn,
Is there anything common about the bulk of the emails you have analyzed? I'm especially wondering if most or all of them appear to have been pulled off .mil server backups. Since Rove relied almost exclusively on RNC servers, it seems they could have omitted emails directly involving him when they collected these documents.
He may also have been a bit more careful with this program since he had to know it was illegal and that someone with principles in DOD could get upset and "out" the program. As such, and given the reference to the "weekly briefings", the case could be made that Rove kept track of the program through weekly meetings with its principals and committed little or nothing to paper himself. I think that an FOI request is in order here, requesting calendar information for Barber, Smith, Lawrence and Rove at least and possibly including the others previously noted to have been involved in the inception and execution of the program.
Once any real connection between the White House political office (Rove) and the DOD sockpuppet program is documented, it becomes much easier to prove a charge of illegal propaganda.

Keep asking the questions....
Keep up the petitions. Insist that the answers are clear to the American People. The way the "highest levels" of government use the the term,., "the American People" is a degrading put-down slur these days...
Bush cares nothing for the troops either. He says "troops" like he'd take a morning dump in the outhouse. Stinkers.
`This Land is Our Land.
People like Rove make everything they "touch" become a pile of filth? The sad-sack GOPS are NOT flourishing anymore. The convergence of a more virtuous, informed citizen, is leading people toward a reality.
Rove's pals are scoundrels.
In the 1770's, as the Revolution approached, the cultural of the day was in a transformation stage. Society was making a transition from fragmented era to a more unified approach to addressing the serious problems. A more integral People will not be yoked to despots, or lay down and sleep under a tyrant.
The connections of crime-cooking in The White House kitchen is a Given. The poison ingrediants are everywhere. This Bush's reign has quickly ruined the Rules of Law etc.,
The GOP, pro-lie, and deplorable bad-conduct, has been perpetual.
Wars! And by name-calling "enemies" (al`Q-tip-ears) ends if they QUIT.
This Land, which is being ruined rapidly.... Remember : It's precious Land.
Keep putting wholesome salt, pepper etc., chives, parsley etc.,into the pot.
The Point? We are are all connected. Given. Even if it is a complicated notion.
The idea that is emerging is that people should elect virtuous leaders, and the virtuous leaders should make decisions that benefit the common good, as well as the individuals' pursuit of happiness.... Glenn/others say it best... But we/me all have a vested stake in 'our' times. If we care at all about a future, and a world where inhabitants are able to feel secure and safe... Ignore the sham responses, Persist like a Brewer and insist citizens are heard. Why? Rove's ilk are busters. A republic will die from lingering, and malingering vices. A Rove is a old time scab.
Rove should be tied to a tomato stake?
Keep him out of the garden. He tramples.

can we just throw Karl in jail as an enemy combatant already..
If the Pres can do it...
-
Why karl?
Far be it from me to question your motives, but I'm curious why you were inspired to search for "karl" in these Pentagon documents. Besides the obvious partisan nature of this should-be-scandal, what intimated to you that this could have his involvement?

TPMmuckraker commenters digging
Hey Glenn,
You have a lot of help sifting the DOD document dump....
I hope you can comment on this gem:
In the exchange, someone (the name is redacted) emails public relations officials in the Pentagon with news that Jed Babbin, who was deputy undersecretary of defense in President George H.W. Bush's administration and a participant in the analyst program ("one of our military analysts," the emailer calls him), would be guest hosting the Michael Medved radio show. And Babbin wanted to interview Gen. George Casey, then the commanding officer in Iraq. Babbin is the editor of Human Events.
But just in case Pentagon officials were worried that the interview might not be worth doing, the emailer made the case: "this would be a softball interview and the show is 8th or 9th in the nation."
Allison Barber, a Public Affairs official at the Pentagon, responded quickly:
Thanks for sending this.
Just fyi, probably wouldn't put "softball" interview in writing. If that got out it would compromise jed and general casey.
Seems that the Pentagon political appointees knew what they were doing was illegal.

Allison Barber
I recall that she was the Pentagon flack who was caught coaching some troops in Iraq immediately prior to a Q&A video teleconference with Bush, which just happened to occur on the same day Rove was making his fourth visit to the Plame grand jury. There was much speculation at the time that Barber wouldn't have made this mistake had Karl not been distracted by his own problems. Barber also cancelled Ed Schultz's show on American Forces Radio after Schultz made light of Barber's faux pas.
It is inconceivable that "karl" is anyone other than Rove. I think it's common knowledge that Barber was nothing more than Rove's sockpuppet in the Pentagon.

I didn't search anything. I've been reading through these documents and posting repeatedly on what I've found. A reporter at a large newspaper emailed me yesterday about this particular entry.
Having said that, even if I had specifically searched for evidence of White House involvement in this program, what would be wrong with that? Far be it from me to question your motives,, but do you actually think we should refrain from trying to find out what our government does? Is it "partisan" to try to find out?
