Finding Obama guilty of insufficient devotion to Israel

Has there ever been another country besides Israel to which American politicians are required to vow absolute allegiance?

The letters thread is now closed.

apologies. Yom. not Yon. The Yom Kipper War.

The war when Israel was attacked from the North and the South by Syria and Egypt.

I don't wish to go to a lawyer today or any day with a meat clever stuck in my skull.

I hope computer return to days when a typewriter had a bell, and we had 'Wite-Out'

The scroll-window could be dabbed and smeared with 'Wite-Out' paste. Poor Osama?

If we meant to write:` People hate Osama, and meant Obama... Smear the ice-cream?

@conservativeslayer

Sorry, but couldn't let this one go without a comment. Glenn Greenwald penned:

Yet no politician dares to express these majoritarian views. Right-wing neocons with clearly fringe views have succeeded in making the mainstream views -- the ones held by most Americans -- off-limits to mainstream political leaders

Given that polls show the majoritarian view on 9/11 is that Americans are dissatisfied with past investigations and want a new one:

www.rawstory.com/news/2006/Less_than_half_of_Americans_satisfied_0523.html

it's pretty clear what comments like "take your 9-11 trash/BS elsewhere" are intended to accomplish.

May I offer some advice, as you did to me? Chill the anger, examine the forensic evidence. A good place to begin: WTC 7 and ae911truth.org.

Good luck!

ISRAEL IS A DRAG

Anybody else sick and tired of Israel? Or Iraq? Or Iran? Or Pakistan? Or Saudia Arabia? Or Syria? Or the Palenstinians? Or Hamas? Or Bin Laden? Or Hezabollah?

How about the entire freakin' Middle East? Anybody else sick of them all?

Obama will never do as far as the Israel Lobby is concerned

"“The anxiety on the part of the Jewish Right is that Obama is the Manchurian candidate,” says Joshua Landis, a professor at Oklahoma University, “that he has secret sympathy with Muslims, and the whole war of terror which relies on demonizing Islam isn’t going to float. They hear him undoing everything that’s been done under Bush, the idea that Israel’s war with the Palestinians is America’s war with terrorism. They’ve worked hard to cut out any daylight on these issues. And here is Obama trying to put the daylight back in there.”"

- The American Conservative, http://www.amconmag.com/2008/2008_05_05/article1.html

In other words, Obama may put a stop to, or at least slow down, the massive neocon-engineered push to get America to fight Israel's wars.

Thanks for sharing the e-mail

For those of us not versed in diplomo-speak on issues related to Israel, that was really helpful. Please thank your correspondent.

@ Jestaplero

Y'know, in that it was the Reverend Wright Controversey, not the Mullah Wright Controversy. But I guess a lot of people are just that stupid.

If they ain't RW fundies, YEC, rapture, "perfected Jews", and all that, they're all heathen infidels through and through, and all the same (tools and/or agents of Shatan/Satan/Beetlejuice). Just like the Great Whore, the RCC....

Cheers,

@ Good Celery!

apologies. Yom. not Yon. The Yom Kipper War.

The Yon Kipper War was concerning who on the Upper West side would have to take the tube down to lower Manhattan and pick up the breakfast nosh.

Cheers,

Israel is a foreign country

It really is. And it ought to be treated as such.

Israel is a foreign country. Not the 51st state. Israelis are foreigners. They ought to register as agents of a foreign power like other foreigners working as lobbyists in Washington.

The more you examine the "special relationship" Israel enjoys with the US, the more it resembles a parasite/host relationship.

"Insufficient devotion to Israel"?

I'd find it refreshing for President Obama to review each and every "dual citizenship" type in government. No man may serve two masters. Putting the USA first, second and third is what the order of the day ought to be for every American President. NOT SERVING A FOREIGN COUNTRY'S INTERESTS.

Electro

Is there anything else besides insults and namecalling? I mean I wouldn't want the people who's opinions outnumber mine 100 to 1 to feel persecuted or anything.

Calling people anti-semitic, as you have many times, for voicing opinions that don't even approach anti-semitism is stupid and yes, insulting. Try not to pretend you don't serve up the very same kind biggotry you rail against.

Being persecuted for being stupid is not the same thing as being persecuted for being Jewish. Though, I seriously doubt you have the capacity to reconcile that.

As I suspected

Producing proof in the form of links or examples was simply too much for ElectroDork to manage. And I really was looking forward to it.

Can we count on not seeing it here anymore? Pfft...doubtful when it's getting paid to spam this blog's comment section.

Coward is as coward does.

So now you know. Electro has no opinions, he's only here to shit in the punchbowl, and any feedback to him on these attempts should focus primarily on ridicule, not serious discussion, as his programming doesn't accommodate that.

Further, I would say that the whole worldview that Electro espouses in his own insipid fashion (that liberals want to annihilate the Jews) is on its face completely invalid. As evidence, I point to Electro's attempts to make this argument as the best attempt one could make.

Bill Moyers on Christian Zionism

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Auf-Su-xZVU

Some right-wing "Christians" who believe End Times are nigh sometimes want to actually start wars just to bring it on.

The Jewish folk who don't convert, of course, aren't destined for Heaven once the "Rapture" comes.

[Of course, in the Gospel of Thomas, Christ says "the kingdom of Heaven is spread upon the earth, but men do not see it." What is this Buddhism?]

I think Obama's answer was nuanced and thoughtful. I'm not even remotely against Jewish people or the religious tradition that values peace, justice, dissent and discussion, but when people DEMAND that I refuse to consider the rights or suffering on the Palestine side, I get suspicious.

Many citizens of Israel feel the same way.

Any -ism that demands its adherents refuse to acknowledge someone else's humanity is potentially very dangerous.

No sane person could think that Israel as a political state is Infallible, or that our press and national conversations are balanced.

It's too bad that shameless bigot Jimmy Carter is trying to get people to see thier common humanity and their shared interest in peacefully coexisting. What will he think of next?
