To live in this process is absolutely not to be able to notice it...unless one has a much greater degree of political awareness, acuity, than most of us had ever had occasion to develop. Each step was so small, so inconsequential, so well explained or, on occasion, ‘regretted,’ that, unless one were detached from the whole process from the beginning, unless one understood what the whole thing was in principle, what all these ‘little measures’ that no ‘patriotic German’ could resent must some day lead to, one no more saw it developing from day to day than a farmer in his field sees the corn growing. One day it is over his head.
As much as I agree that we need to get congress to investigate and shame the MSM into at least talking about this issue, in the end it is up to us to develop a "greater degree of political awareness".
Scott Ritter once noted that birds in the spring will run out, grab some worms, fly back to the nest where the nestlings were waiting with thier mouths open. Mom would then puke the worms into their mouths.
He said that is basically America right now. We sit on the couch, click on the MSM so they can vomit this crap and we eat it up. I think blogs are having some effect, but we need a much more political awareness to be able to provide a check on our political and media institutions.
